But how are the Rees haters going to spin this???
If you think Rees recruited poorly before, you have to give him credit. I do. If you think it was Kelly’s fault for the poor qb recruiting then you have to give Freeman props.

Can someone give a reasonable explanation as to why ND fans are so enamored with Card? This a recruiting rankings thing? He was the backup to a Qb that had a worse season than Pyne and most Texas fans I've talked to are baffled we are interested in him.

He cost them the Bama game, cost them the game against tech, and was pretty good against a couple bad defenses.

There are proven options out there

I don’t think he’s the best possible choice. But he clears the bar of accomplishment

He's an athlete with a good arm. Many think he looked better than Ewers but was screwed over for political reasons.

With Sark's reputation of being an offensive genius, that Texas Offense looked horrible all season. From what I watched, Card outplayed Ewers.

2022 stats:

Card - 75/108 (69.4%), 928 yards (8.6 Y/A), 6 TD, 1 INT
Ewers - 141/249 (56.6%), 1808 yards (7.3 Y/A), 14 TD, 6 INT

EDIT: And apart from 6 passing attempts in other games, Card compiled his numbers against Alabama, UTSA, Texas Tech, and West Virginia. He didn't just feast on a couple of punching bags.

What reputation? He put up points with Uber talented offenses at USC and Bama. So did everyone. He’s sucked as a HC.

Are all positive reputations duly earned? I don't disagree with what you're saying, but he does have a positive reputation for being an offensive coach.

Since we're playing the game apparently, can he bring Xavier Worthy with him?

He may be an above average OC (maybe) but I don’t think anyone says he’s an offensive genius.

I think for ND the tough thing is going to be that there are multiple options and they need to pick the "right" guy and they need admissions to get out of the way. Getting Brandon Joseph in was tough and he was at freaking Northwestern.

This board was nutting over his play calls vs Bama. He’s a good opening script writer and when he’s got elite weapons like Bama gets WRs open on long drawn out plays, but alll he needs to do those are an elite QB, WRs and OL…..

He’s not a HC and repeatedly abandons the run in 2Hs. Shout out him though being the only reason I was up gambling this year. Went like 5 - 1 on Texas 1H and then flipping it at half.

Don't want to give too much away, but it was confirmed on one of the premium sites that Card is graduating next month, so he'll have his degree before he enrolls at his next college.

Card was first-team Academic All Big 12 in 2021. I would think he's probably a much easier sell to admissions than some other options.

Yep. At least Kiffin has shown he can put up good offenses from the HC position. Sarks’ teams have been typically poor. The talent level on those Bama offenses were ridiculous.

Card who was awarded 2017 District 25-6-A Offensive Newcomer of the Year as a Sophomore

vs

2022 Spring Game Shaved Dad Tummy Award Winner.........
I was thinking more of the 6-2, #2 Dual threat QB from the 2020 class whose numbers were better than the starter at Texas

Yeah. Saw that on a Texas forum. They all seemed to have good things to say about him.

Anybody complaining about his numbers should go look at Burrow's stats before he transferred. Oh look, here:

7-11 (63.6%), 61 yards (5.5 avg), 0 TD, 0 INT
