Card looked good against Alabama honestly

He made some bad passes. Too much air on a few, some bad placements, had some incompletions because he threw off of his back foot.

Not going to crucify him. He did what he could and Texas almost one. Bama swarmed him a lot that game, too. Tough to come off the bench to take on that defense with those athletes at every level.

Texas would be in the Big 12 Championship if Sark had gone to Card. He was stuck with Ewers clearly for whatever promises/reasons.

Conner Bazelak from IU is entering the portal. I have no idea how good he is.

Just from the clips I have watched I think Leary throws a better ball than Card. But does the injury allow him to make a full recovery?

I think we probably should assume ND could possibly compete for playoffs next year, but a NY6 is needed to keep momentum going. In that case, I would go with Card. He will be a sure thing to come in and compete immediately in spring ball. Leary may be able to get you to playoffs, but his injury could also mean a higher probability of missing NY6. Bird in the hand and all that. Just my .02.

He is the summary of the very very long transfer QB post on IB
Hudson Card
Mutual interest on both sides. The rumbling of him visiting are coming from Cards side since ND can't talk to him officially yet
Jeff Sims
No interest at this point on NDs end
Cade McNamara
Some sources like some don't at ND. Kinda made it seem like a back burner option
Devin Leary
if he enters the portal he would be "very very" interested in ND. BD is concerned he had both a LB and UB injury
Michael Pratt from Tulane, If he enters the portal there would be legitimate interest on both sides but not sure he would be the top of NDs board.

Other QBs to watch Tyler Van Duke and Tanner McKee

I don't think there is going to be a lot of competition for the starter next year if we land Card. He starts period. More talented and experienced than any other qb we'd have on the roster. Highly doubt that Buchner could make it through a whole year injury free, and Card is an upgrade over Pyne. Think he's a great fit prior to Minchey and Carr getting going.

Honestly looking at the list of teams that could be looking for a QB transfer we should have our pick of the litter. We're easily the most desirable destination.

Yes. Strong oline, great backs, strong tight ends, and young up and coming receivers. National tv every weekend and a coach that all the players love. Players wanting to be at ND now is no coincidence. Let's go Irish!

From those, my pick is Card. I think it's a bit of a risk in terms of limited experience, but IMO, he's the most talented of the bunch.

Sims, I'm very skeptical about his ability to throw it consistently.

McNamara, pass. Matt from ISD basically summed up my thoughts. He's not the talent to get ND to the next level. His numbers were Pyne-esque in '21.

Leary would probably be my pick if not for the injury. I just don't think the staff can trust he'll be ready to compete in spring and get things rolling.

Pratt may be a little intriguing, but his numbers don't really stand out too much against some poor competition.

TVD, nah. It's telling that a majority of his best numbers came against UNC, Virginia Tech and Bethune Cookman. Rest of his film is very poor.

McKee could also be interesting. His numbers weren't impressive, but it's kind of hard to stand out when the rest of your offense is just horrible.

Since there seems to be mutual interest, here’s to praying they get Card asap.

All respect in the world to Leary but injuries to QBs has me in the no thank you category.

All the rest are meh.

Card just needs playing time. He was sacrificed because of Ewers lofty expectations and the fact he transferred back to Texas after initially committing then going to OSU. Unless he was on track for the Heisman in the handful of games he played in, it was always going to be a short leash.

Card for 2 years is an absolutely steal at this point. Give him 2 years with this WR corps?

Too early for all this speculation. Don’t even know who is entering the portal let alone who else will go after whom. And who’s injury is how bad, etc.
At least all the pundits think we will be in the market for one guy unlike last year

So come August, they're going to have six scholarship QBs in the room? Pyne, Buchner, Agneli, Powlus, Minchey and the Transfer Savior.

6 scholarship QBs out of 85 total you have to give seems rather....excessive? I would expect a couple guys to leave. Or this is going to have to be run like an NFL training camp where actual cuts get made. Or make it like The Bachelor or Survivor or something. Stream it live.

"Drew you will not get a rose. Jimmy McGinty, MAC transfer from Grand Rapids, MI that can't hit an 8 yard out, you have immunity."

(I think I just combined the two shows.)

Notre Dame is almost never at the 85 scholarship limit anyway. They’ll have transfers out, medical scholarships, etc..

But, yes, I’m sure 1, maybe 2, quarterbacks leave. Idk where Pyne is at with his school credit hours. But maybe he get his degree in the summer and transfers? Maybe Buchner takes his ball and goes home if he loses the starting job?

You have to keep Powlus on scholarship, if for nothing else, righting the wrong of Lou Holtz having his father running the option.
