I don't but it's going to be interesting to see how ND plays this. Do they go all out for a Hudson Card when there is surely more to hit the portal?
When does the portal start, December 5th?

I suspect that Hudson Card will have a very good idea where he is heading by that date. If he prioritizes a pay check someone will give it to him.

I wouldnt put too much weight on this since its just some random poster on IB but he said he was at the gym with two Polynesian guys that are close with DJU and they told him that if Notre Dame offers then DJ he would commit to Notre Dame and bring his brother Matayo Uiagalelei as a package deal. They also told him that their father loves Notre Dame.

Edit: he said it was a family member from the Uiagalelei's

Auburn?

Their QB play was not great this year, and Holden Geriner may be the future guy but he's still just a freshman.

Lol. On so many levels.

That will certainly explode on IB boards. Those lads are like flies on honey to every little thing.

There might be a slight bit of credibility to that. I seem to recall some talk about DJ frustrated he didn't get an ND offer and he would have looked at them pretty hard if he did. Where it loses credibility is Matayo is only concerned about the bag.

I’d take DJ U over Armstrong or a lot of other names. DJ is like the anti Armstrong, Hartman etc. Those guys I’d be concerned what they look like outside their scheme (ex 2021 v 2022 Armstrong). DJ needs an actual real scheme to be in.

That would certainly be Tommy betting on himself.

Being so close to so many Clemson fans I want nothing to do with DJ. They have all said the same thing - physical tools are fantastic but he is a total head case. The smallest thing goes wrong and he is mentally gone...

People have opinions on Rees, but I think part of that could be he has zero coaching. The Clemson staff is a joke of former GAs and analysts all cut from the same cloth.

DJ would be not a Top 5 choice for me but if it was him I would hop on for the ride.

I agree, there are 4 guys that should be in the portal the ND should immediately focus on but I would definitely take him if those guys aren't going to show interest. He would improve the QB room. I would take him over Cade McNamara

i think with current qb situation we get to change how we approach the transfer portal.

before landing minchey, we needed at minimum a high floor guy. think pyne + some better physical tools.

now i think they can be a lil more selective and/or shoot for someone high ceiling.

Let's be honest, unless there truly is drastic change in our approach to NIL/portal, the BEST qb to hit the portal is likely going elsewhere.

Agree and I would also add that before Minchey was added to the class we really needed a transfer QB with multiple years of eligibly left. With Minchey in the class we don't need to focus on that as much

It helps to have a one year fix, but a second year from Card allows Minchey to battle for the backup role in 2024, which would help him more for the QB opening in 2025. It's always better to have your next QB with some sort of playing experience, even if it's just mop-up duty.

well hes in the protal and didnt we already know this?

I don't believe any other media outlet had said anything beyond speculation that he was probably going to be available. Driskell just went a step further and alluded to ND's interest in him IF he was to enter the portal

Loy indicated Card, Leary and Pratt seem to be a trio to keep an eye on.

Haven’t caught a Tulane game so don’t know much about Pratt tbh.

Is the Pratt speculation just based on the assumption Fritz was leaving or is there some other reason to think Pratt will transfer?

I like Pratt. I watched the OU/Tulane game last season where he took the Sooners down to the wire. But, his play, really hasn't made much progression since his freshman year. His stats are nearly identical across all three seasons. Stats dont tell the whole picture, though.
