He has named so many managers.. Nightengale has zero credibility on most of his reporting. I'll wait on Passan, Olney etc.

He broke the LaRussa news about both the hiring and the leaving. Nightengale is Jerry Reinsdorf's boy, so in this instance, he has credibility. Jerry gave him the story that LaRussa would be the hire a few years ago.

What's the story with shildt at STL? Was he just let go or was there more to it?
More to it. Philosophical differences. The word "toxic" got thrown around in terms of the environment he supposedly sowed.

LaRussa likes him. Shildt was with the Cardinal organization for about 20 years.

Nightengale is the person which has stated that Ozzie was the favorite on multiple occasions. Trust me, I hope that’s just his feelings and not coming down from Reinsdorf but… I’m still in favor of going outside of the organization.

It's hard to say anymore. Nightengale has access to Reinsdorf and he gets information. Whether or not what he's getting now is accurate we'll know soon enough. Frankly, a list of Bochy, Shildt and Washington seems like spot on White Sox of the Gore/Bush Century. It makes total sense as they're still one of the last franchises left in MLB who are clinging to this old school pre-Moneyball mentality they don't ever want to shake.

I could see them bringing back Ozzie because they would feel it is what the majority of the fan base would want (it isn't) and it would sell tickets (it will to a very small extent). They don't seem to have a pulse on what is happening around the game and within their own fan base. Any success they have had in recent years (2000, 2005, 2008, 2021) has been due to a lot of luck and has never been sustained.

Yordan Alvarez is 25 years old. So is Eloy Jimenez.

Alvarez is what I want Jimenez to be, somehow.

I can't believe we are going to allow Abreu to walk to the cubs.
The cubbies are about to sign three of the top 20 international players, he'd be very useful especially when you look at their heavy-Central American minors. But... the Sox should've made it possible for him to retire as a White Sox not cubby.

I would have let Abreu walk the first time, and I was incorrect at that time. I'd rather they not let him walk again. I'm not sure I understand their logic. His presence and production are needed now more than ever before if they are going to make a last gasp run while their window remains slightly open.

If DeGromm actually becomes a free agent, I’d love to see him on the SouthSide. I wonder if the Sox would be in play for Contreras at catcher? The Sox have young talent in the minors and I hope that now with a change of management, they’ll start bringing some up and figure out the massive injury bug problem

They won't make either of those signings.

Also, the Jim Thome for manager campaign is starting to pick up steam. Evidently, all we deserve as fans are former players who have never won anything to manage our team that never wins anything.

Jerry in all likelihood probably thinks this is what people want and the meatballs will buy tickets to see Thome exhange the lineup card.

So un-Sox-like
Well, so was AJ Hinch, but the crypt keeper chairman ruined that one.

This is a good hire if they see it until the end. Next is getting him the resources to compete like it's 2023, which would require a major front office overhaul.

My fear is Espada comes from Houton to the White Sox and realizes that he's gone from vanilla ice cream to horse crap when it comes to organizational philosophy.

Mind you, he was NOT at Houston during the trash can bit and it turns out that Houston is still pretty damn good since then. Their front office has been second to none.

I think I’d like him to keep Katz and axe everyone else. We’ll see how much Papa Jerry gives him and Rick to work with. I wish Hahn would’ve been given walking papers, but it’s always so hard to know how much of the current woes are actually his fault…or Jerry’s/Tony’s/Kenny’s

I don't see Joe McEwing going anywhere if Jerry has a say. He's been with the organization since 2012.

I would tend to agree with you, however, that keeping Katz and getting rid of everyone else is the way to go. Espada has connections with the Yankees and Astros. If he can bring his own people with him, let him do it.
