Ozzie is currently the favorite but Bruce Bochy, Sandy Alomar and Joe Girardi are the likeliest to be considered smart choice unless you want to include Willie Harris and AJ. as options due to their baseball history with the Sox and Jerry
All of those options outside of Alomar, who is probably waiting for the Cleveland job, are trash.

Give me one good reason why AJ and Willie Harris should manage the White Sox other than "2005." There isn't one. Ozzie, Bochy and Girardi are all retreads. Don Mattingly is a retread. Joe Maddon is a retread.

Can we maybe once shop down the nice aisle instead of digging in the recycling bin?

Ozzie isn't a favorite and I highly doubt he is even being considered.
I agree, but with Jerry, who the hell knows. I'm certain Kenny and Rick want nothing to do with it, not that it matters because they should both be gone too.

Way too many masses in this fan base have been programmed to want to "keep it in the family." This family doesn't win things much at all. Maybe it's time to get smart and try something different. That means skipping the former White Sox player bin and the guys with "experience."

I agree about Alomar but they need fresh blood that is out of the family.

But, I wouldn't be against Omar Vazquel

Vizquel has a lot of baggage. Domestic abuse and sexual harrassment accusations hovering over him.

A franchise that in it's history which spans over a century has never been to the playoffs in back to back seasons. Maybe it is time to hire people from somewhere else.

Biggest offseason things that need to be done.
1. Find a young hispanic manager, previous player and coaching experience.
2. Figure out the Abreu/ Vaughn Situation. You can't keep both.
3. Find a left handed starting pitcher. Either via trade or FA market.
4. Find a left handed outfield bat. Nimmo or Conforto?
5. Trade a bullpen piece or two, maybe trade Giolito?

I think Giolito is going to get traded.. I think they will try to trade Moncada and Yas to anyone who will listen or eat their salaries.

Okay, good points.

I think it is 10 losing seasons out of 12 and he still has his job. It's totally unfathomable in sports today.

They're going for Bochy. Zero doubt in my mind. Maddon and Girardi are probably next on the list.

I don't think it's Bochy. I think they make a hard run at Espada.

Which is why they’ll fuck it up and hire Maddon.
Right. You can see it coming.

I could care less about the Sox-Cubs thing, but to hire Renteria AND Maddon would be an absolute nightmare for the organization when you consider how pissed off fans are and how many tickets are not being renewed for 2023 after what we just saw. That's not what they want to do. I'd take a hard pass on Girardi too.

The glimmer of hope I have is that Kenny and Rick were going to hire AJ Hinch until Jerry stepped on their heads and stuck them with LaRussa. Still doesn't change the fact that both Kenny and Rick should be gone and shouldn't be making the hire in the first place.

I am coming around to the thought of Carlos Beltran as well.

Exactly my thought...
How ridiculous is it that we would REMOTELY believe they'd actually do it?

As soon as I saw this Tweet, my mind immediately went to Jerry hiring Abreu as manager. That's jaded cynicism and then some.

It's the Reinsdorf way. I can imagine him saying this: "I always liked when Pete Rose did the player manager thing, Jose is a perfect fit for the job"

Bochy is known as an "old school" manager. I'm fully convinced the job will be his if he wants it. My guess if Hahn wanted Hinch, Jerry and Kenny want Bochy.

This would be the second hire in a row they've made dragging a former WS winning manager out of retirement. Evidently that's the only way they feel they can win.

From Hahn's interview the other day it would seem impossible to me they would a manager who would be 68 the first week of the season.. Sounded like they wanted younger and not another guy who's been out of the league for 3 seasons. It is LaRussa all over again if they do this.

I assume he'll get backlash, though not nearly as bad as the LaRussa hire, if he goes for Beltran. Especially after it was Hinch he wanted two years ago.

Anyone involved in the Astros fiasco might as well be steroid users. No one is going to forget.

Beltran is very highly thought of. If the White Sox don't hire him, someone will. Hinch proved that.

Chicago NBC is reporting that the White Sox will allow José Abreu to sign with another team during the off-season.

Jerry Reinsdorf's nephew Bob Nightengale is reporting that the manager job is down to Bruce Bochy, Mike Shildt and Ron Washington.

Out of those three, it's Ron Washington by a mile for me.

He has named so many managers.. Nightengale has zero credibility on most of his reporting. I'll wait on Passan, Olney etc.
