The thing that sucks is Rees will likely put us behind the 8-ball with 2024 QB's.
The thing is we can't assume that any of them will be "the guy", regardless if they are 5*. The staff needs to do whatever they can to bring in the best possible QB every cycle. Otherwise, if Carr busts and the rest of the QB room is filled with clipboard holders (Clark, RP III) and "safe" game-manager types with limited upside then we could be in trouble, particularly against the top teams. Get a quality QB with upside each year and then let them battle it out.Yeah sucks when we land 5 star QBs.
I’m sure Tommy and Marcus havent thought of this…The thing is we can't assume that any of them will be "the guy", regardless if they are 5*. My fear is I don't think the former is capable of executing such a plan.I’m sure Tommy and Marcus havent thought of this…

No. His motion is beautiful.are there question marks about his throwing action?
creepyNo. His motion is beautiful.
To be fair, Saban won 3 of his national titles with Greg McElroy, Jake Coker and Mac Jones, all of which were 3-star QB recruits.I agree on Tommy… it’s not like Lincoln Riley, Dabo Sweeney, and Nick Saban weren’t winning with average talent.
They were winning with obscure guys like DeShaun Watson, Trevor Lawrence, Jalen Hurts, and Tua. It was only after they proved that they could develop kids like that they started getting better QB recruits.
Very much, and it's looking more and more like a probability with each passing day.Not surprised by this, but good to see Tommy visiting. With CJ being close to ND that gives ND the opportunity to visit often (which I think they should).
Is Carr reclassifying still an option?
You realize body and age wise he should be a senior this year and took a year off when he was younger to go study abroad. That he initially brought the possibility of reclassifying up before ND even knew that they weren’t getting Dante.Reclassifying is dumb. Sorry to say but I would be mad if he did, your basically forcing him into this position because you can’t recruit a different option in 23. Hopefully this doesn’t happen and if it does we get someone in the portal. Playing a high school senior should never be an option. The truly annoying part about this is that if he does reclassify all the fans will call for him to play and make him and the team uncomfortable. I know I’m rambling but I’m getting major Jimmy Clauson freshman year vibes.
This post is dumb. He's the best QB we can get in '23. He's got the grades and coursework to enroll early. Getting him on campus ASAP is what's best for both him and NDFB. Doing so will allow the staff to focus further QB recruiting efforts on '24 rather than scrambling for scraps in '23.Reclassifying is dumb. You know he is the same age as Dante Moore right? He was held back in school.Reclassifying is dumb. He’s like three days younger than Dante. No one would care about Dante EEing and pushing for playing time next year.Reclassifying is dumb. Not sure our current QB room is all that much better then 2007.This post is dumb. He's the best QB we can get in '23. He's got the grades and coursework to enroll early. Our QB room in 2007 was Evan Sharpley, Demetrius Jones, Zach Frazer and Jimmy Clausen. For as frustrating as our QB situation is right now (at least compared to the rest of the team,) it's still much better than it was 15 years ago.

You're discounting enrolling and getting college level training / coaching without the expectation of starting next year, so he gets at least a season of college life under his belt before he's expected to start.Agree that another year at Saline probably isn't worth it, but I think the ideal situation developmentally would be a senior year of high level HS reps. The baseball analogy would be that there's a reason you don't drop your 1st round mlb draft picks into AAA. He's certainly older than most juniors, and so I can hear the argument to the contrary, but I don't think it's dumb either way.
Like I said, I can see it both ways. Is there a slam dunk example of a QB that reclassified to skip their SR year and killed it in college? I'm sure there's a few I just can't think of any. You're discounting enrolling and getting college level training / coaching without the expectation of starting next year, so he gets at least a season of college life under his belt before he's expected to start.
And everyone is missing the biggest individual benefit - there is NO guarantee the NIL rules are going to stay as is for another 2 years. Reclassifying gives him the opportunity to get NIL money a year sooner. Who knows what happens with regulation in the next 2 years.
TBH there are very few examples of QBs who walked in as true freshmen and killed it. Even fewer - if any - who reclassified.Like I said, I can see it both ways. The frustrating thing is why aren’t they pushing hard and working to set up visits for other solid 2024 QB’s since it’s obvious that their eggs are in the Carr reclassification basket.I get the impression he intends to reclassify. If he didn't, it would be easy to put all speculation to bed. They're probably waiting for his summer/fall transcripts to clear and get the official admissions OK, as opposed to announcing it then the embarrassment of reversing if Admissions says no.
If you look at the (lack of) '23 QB recruiting effort & read between the lines with Avery Johnson's recruitment, it seems to me the plan is for CJ to reclassify.
How do you know they're not? They do not answer to us.The frustrating thing is why aren’t they pushing hard and working to set up visits for other solid 2024 QB’s since it’s obvious that their eggs are in the Carr reclassification basket.
What does 2007 have to do with this year? Is this just a “it could always be worse” type post? Not understanding the correlation. This post is dumb. He's the best QB we can get in '23.
