2025 Beat: Carr takes too many risks, turns it over in practice, Minchey will start

2026 Beat: he’s just testing things out, next year is gonna be movie
You mean the news pushes narratives not facts?!

Color me shocked!!!

spring practice is the time to try things; not in a game. Take chances; etc. The way some react is bizarre

I didn’t say anything about Carr himself. I’ve always been find with the occasional INT. Said the same last year. Being overly risk averse is not good.

The beat pissed their pants with every INT they saw last year in camp. Now they are writing articles about how next year is gonna be a movie because they watched Carr throw INTs in camp. It’s hilarious.

Practice is all about seeing what you can and can’t do. Aaron Rodgers talked about this.

Was CJ really that bad throwing to Fields?

I mean, its gotta be a pretty small sample. Fields only had 36 targets total. Also, considering he averaged over 17 yards per catch while also getting several screens and quick outs, several of that low number of his deep targets probably came a good amount past 15 yards, and every yard further will obviously make an off target throw more likely. And then there were also a couple that probably count that were just Carr throwing up a go ball after the defense jumped offsides.

The tweet even shows how this number isn't a totally accurate description of QB play. The two teammates being compared had massively different percentages with the same QB. Really the stat is a way to add context to WR numbers, but does so in a way that actually makes you ask more questions instead of answering questions.

I think the issue would be 1/3 targets were deep balls.

He didn’t have a lot of easy targets to offset the naturally occurring inaccuracy that comes with deep balls. Like comparing to Chris Bell when Louisville runs a bunch of drags is a useless feat. Would be curious how they graded some of the fades Carr threw. Carr’s deep ball isn’t the most accurate to be fair.

Whatever scout has Sorsby over Carr should probably begin looking for a job because this career isn’t for them

Also LOL at the Arch domination. Same scouts probably wanted to take him 1.1 this season.

Irrelevant remark by me, but what little I've seen, and what huge LOT has been hyped, about Manning, jr. I can't honestly tell yet if he is more than a modestly above average QB. Sometimes he looks very "pedestrian" and even nervously outside the play call. ... but what the heck do I know?

The verdict on him is still out for me. He did show improvement from the start of the year. I'm guessing they are basing this off of the latter part of the season.

So I missed the SG,... was it as bad as it's being made out?

This is misleading as a "ranking" because the scouts only picked 3. A better way to describe the result is:
All 10 scouts had Dante Moore in their top 3, most had Arch Manning. The 3rd spot was spread across these 7 guys. This basically reflects the opinion the CFB media at this point in the cycle too. ESPN and their "rankings"... gobbling up those sweet social media clicks.

15. New York Jets (from IND): CJ Carr, QB, Notre Dame

The Jets are set to pick three times in next year’s first round, and there’s an extremely high probability they use one of those picks on a quarterback. Carr produced promising tape as a redshirt freshman. If he takes the next step in 2026, we might be talking about him this early.
