I canceled my room and didn’t buy the game tickets I planned to after the Marshall game. It would have cost me thousands to get a room, tickets, and food for the family for the weekend. Hopefully, they are good by then and I regret not going.

Hall is going to be a pain
I’m a friend of his (we literally have dinner every couple of months) so I say this with the utmost respect for him:

Hit him hard early on a sack, and he will spiral. The dude has had a concussion every year while at BYU, and he is terrified of getting another. If you dont get to him and he can sit back there then yeah, he will kill us. We hit him consistently and he cant get comfortable, he is not good.

I trust that with 2 weeks Golden will have schemed for the game properly.

One of the few things I think Freeman is doing right is not giving the team the week off during the bye. Kelly always let the players go home.

Psssssssssh wouldnt take them even if he had offered. No way I’m sitting on the BYU side.

I got tickets to the game though from some family friends with Raiders Season tickets. So I will be on the ND sideline.

Hall is a good QB. Eludes the rush and extends the play, then finds a receiver.
We can beat their OL. Need to secure the QB after we do, which has been a problem so far this year

Given the context of the season, I’m glad we have a bye going into this game. They’re all big games from here on out—but to reel off a three game win streak after the Marshall loss would be a pretty huge feather in MFMF’s cap in terms of keeping the locker room together.

^ This is what I came ask...
There's a company advertising a $150 all you can eat/drink tailgate, which seems steep.

The Alimni party on Fri seems as steep given what you get

Legends has the same thing on game days for $100.

Used to be like $25 (without alcohol) just a few years ago. It's too bad they don't do just the food anymore. Was a fun way to chill and watch the early games before heading into the stadium. Can't justify $100 if you're not planning on getting plastered.

Should have said the Friday before the game, they normally do a concert the night before for shamrock series games. I do see they are having a drum circle in front of the new york new york casino

BYU was piss pounded by Oregon. I know every week is a season, but that alone is tangible proof they bleed and if it bleeds you can kill it.

I thought the Irish D did a much better job after the opening drive of containing Maye, who was much more elusive than Plummer. Really encouraging sign of being able to adjust mid-game, right of the get.

That gives me hope that they'll be able to keep Hall in check outside of the pocket. You're right, he's a very talented QB and is a very good playmaker.

BYU has a much better OL than UNC though. And Hall isn't a true freshman.

They were talking during the broadcast that UNC was much improved on the O-Line? Is BYU that much better up front? I haven't watched them much I see they're on Thursday night, I may have to take a peek for awhile.

Incidentally, I've been to several ND games over the years--making the pilgrimage from NEPA (and once from Alaska) to South Bend. By far, the most obnoxious opposing fans I've ever encountered were those during the 2012 BYU game in South Bend. This was unexpected. I almost got into it with one because he had elbowed my ex-fiancee twice. Anecdote, I know.

I think they started mixing in a spy (Marist Liufau in most cases) on some of the obvious opportunities for it. It helped and I though Liufau actually did a great job at it.

Really?! I was actually at that same game and I thought their fans were pretty okay. Maybe I got lucky; I was sitting next to a man and his son, and they were both pretty quiet. Saw some folks tailgating too and they seemed okay. Maybe I got lucky with my section. That was a very tense game. The week before we hit the road to Norman and we just looked sluggish, like we were looking ahead to Oklahoma.

They did spy Liufau quite a bit, unsuccessfully on that opening TD drive but he did a much better job as the game went along. I have to keep reminding myself that he's recovering from a season ending injury, but I'm hoping he is starting to hit his stride after a pretty slow start to the season.

According to PFF, Jaren Hall was pressured 21% of his drop backs vs USF, 33% vs Baylor, 15% vs Oregon, 22% vs Wyoming. I think this is going to be a much stiffer test for our DL than UNC was. And by far. That being said.....they are BAD against the run.

Ha I fumbled the joke there, but I was attempting to provide an example of something that bleeds that u can’t kill. Let’s run it back and I’ll try that one again..
Gunner Romney wouldn't, but Puka Nacua might. UNC has one of the best WR rooms in the country, so that doesn't necessarily mean much. Since Hall is experienced and has a much better OL than the Maye does, he may be more dangerous even with less athletic receivers.

Right. If the offense can maintain what they showed last Saturday, we're going to score a lot of points. Whether or not our DL can pressure Hall and our LBs can contain his scrambling is a different question though. Hopefully we can jump out to an early lead and then grind out the game by running Estime.

You would have loved some of the Michigan games 15ish years ago. They used to walk around like they owned the place, but at that time they were in their descent into mediocrity. I'd commonly see some fist fights or heated arguments on campus before the game. They've been tamer in recent years, but we don't play as often either.

Most fan bases have been pretty good in the last few decades. I thought Nebraska, Utah, and military academies have always had the nicest fans. Didn't really have a problem with BYU. Georgia fans were a mixed bag. Most were super southern polite, but some were loud and threw out a lot of language, didn't see any violence though. Georgia fans by far were the messiest fanbase I've ever seen in South Bend though, they completely desecrated campus with beer cans and broken glass everywhere. It was kind of depressing tbh.
