Yeah, Morrison was REALLY impressive. I was expecting Mickey to be the Love that emerges from this class, and while Mickey did some good things on Saturday, Morrison was a complete stud in the making.

The secondary and LB's the next 2-3 years should be studs for us, I'm concerned about the DL/DE's going forward.

The portal will be well stocked this off season.
yeah the 3 corners in their 2nd year have been passed. And Bracy's the only corner out of eligibility so not much of a path for Barnes, Riley and Tucker.

3 of the 5 safeties are probably done this year so there will be an easier path there.

Barnes was doing some cross training at safety during camp. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets moved over to counteract the losses.

Except ND's safety hauls in '23 & '24 will be next level... with or without Bowen.

Does Cam Hart come back next year?
He’s got another season to play, but should graduate and have seen him projected as a second-day pick (before the season anyway)

Tucker was always a long term project and is a high level student. I don't think he's necessarily behind schedule and he'll probably want to stay for his degree at the least.

Barnes could move to safety or if Hart leaves after this season (seeming more up in the air) we could really use the size. But with the transfer insanity maybe none of that would be enough.

Riley seems lost in no man's land. Unless he just wants to put his head down and stay one more season to get his degree, seems a likely portal candidate.

(Sorry to speculate about transfers but it happens)

He’s also good friends with the Salerno’s, could see him staying.

Barnes with the safety aspect+ND dreamer I could see staying as well

Played 49 snaps to Lewis’ 10. Was only targeted twice.

Pretty officially official your starting CB.
I’m fully confident that neither Mickey or Morrison get toasted the way Clarence and Hart did yesterday. Hart’s mistake in quarters coverage was especially egregious.

Clarence might be a good fit at safety next year. Good ball skills and decent tackler. Assuming we lose Griffith, Joseph, and Brown, we’ll need some veteran depth there.

I had high hopes for Ryan Barnes, with Mickey and Morrison I dunno how he gets on the field unless he moves to safety

Lewis and Hart both make huge mistakes that give up big plays. I’m sure Morrison and Mickey will both make their share, but right now you’ve got to roll with upside.

The difference is 2 of them have college experience and 2 of them are freshman.

A few obvious (and hopefully fixable) mistakes aside, the whole defensive backfield played well yesterday. Held Downs to five catches/32 yards. Solid tackling.

This is the way. Lewis is a pretty big CB. He’s 5’11 1/2”, 203. For comparison, Cam Hart is 6’2 1/2” 198.

Bracy did a really good job on him most of the day. Even the first TD catch was good coverage, he just didn’t get his hands up and/or head around.

Speaking of coverage. Can we not put Kiser on a player like Downs 1on1 from the 5yl ever again. Thats freebies

On that 2nd touchdown, Bracy originally was lined up on Downs. Then Bracy got caught up by the “pick” play. Kiser noticed Downs had the space, so he reacted and tried to close the difference. I don’t think that’s on Kiser.

That play is so common that they really need to, obviously, rep up whether they’re going to switch that rub and pass it off, or try and stick with their original assignment. It’s like communicating a screen in basketball. You can switch it or you can try to hedge and recover, but what you can’t do is be unsure between the two defenders on how you’re going to play it.
