WNBA takes aside, wtf is watching Cornhole and the XFL?!
You want to talk about equality? Cheyenne Renner would open a can of whoop ass on every single guy in this thread. She would beat every one of us 21-0.

Dude, people take the professional cornhole stuff seriously.

I stumbled into a Facebook comment section for an ESPN cornhole highlight video, and these people were at war with one another over their favorite cornholers lol. It looked worse than an SEC football message board.

As an avid cornholer, you couldn't pay me to watch it on TV.

The only way to watch cornhole is in the back yard at a bbq with a cold beverage waiting for next game. Any other scenario, you're failing at life.

Holy shit, it feels like we are dangerously close to stepping into a season one episode of Mad Men on here*.

There isn't some grand woke conspiracy to market women's sports over men's sports. Everyone knows where the money is, and everyone knows the local high school boys team could make a run in the WNBA playoffs. It's a simple matter of ESPN marketing their content during the peak of the WNBA season, particularly since they don't have the rights to Thursday Night Football, like @NDPhilly said.

That doesn't mean it's time to tee off on the very idea of women having the audacity to play sports, and the media having the audacity to cover it, regardless of viewership and clicks.

I'll give @Veritate Duce Progredi the benefit of the doubt, that he was verifying it really wasn't some weird media blitz with anti-NFL motives outside of contractual obligations... but maybe let's chill out with the "at least make me a sandwich if you're gonna be playing basketball on my TV" shit.

Haha I get it, Bill Burr is funny and men are better at things. But I'd prefer if IE avoided gender politics, and focused our efforts on higher-priority things, like making fun of scUM and its fans, or threatening to fight each other at the Irsay YMCA over our opinions on Tommy Rees.

*ND football DOES make me want to freight-train cigarettes and drink myself to death, though, so maybe we're already there
It's awfully kind of you to give me the benefit of the doubt. I thought I made my intention very clear. I like talking about gender politics because it's capturing so much attention as of late. Who said women shouldn't have the audacity to play sports? Or the media shouldn't cover it? I'm curious if ESPN does similar things when there is a much lower grade men's event that they promote above the primetime event of the day (if it's not on their network).

It always seems like people want to shutdown the discussion. I knew I'd draw some people in from both camps on this. Some people are certain media organizations aren't engaged in driving political discussions, some people are certain that's all they do. My eye has sharpened as of late because it feels like every organization is promoting a side with every story. That sometimes causes me to lump unnecessary things on the slides under my microscope.

I'm going to to do my best to promote gender politic discussions on here from now on since you asked me to chill out and not do it. I, again, want to make my intentions very clear. I don't make inflammatory statements, I only ask questions when I seriously have a question. Not to incite rage or get a group on my side. If we can't ask questions like this, WTF am I doing here?

Corn hole is fun to throw on in the background during parties. Same with the professional tag they have on ESPN sometimes.

Yes, with pretty much every week of college football.

ESPN won't mention a big ND game in their scheduling rundowns and promos if it's on NBC, even if it's a top-10 matchup.

Do you not watch much ESPN?

They just had college GameDay on a campus that's game was airing on Fox last Saturday.

Disney owns ESPN. Disney has strong political agendas they are pushing through all of their media. Whether you agree with their politics is up to you, but it's not debatable or even refuted whether they are pushing them on their viewers.

They aren't opposed to doing that, because it's about viewers for the GameDay program, and it's a big lead-in for whatever game is on ESPN.

But when they're doing in-game promos, or commercials, they don't advertise NBC/FOX games, just like they wouldn't put an Amazon game on their website's home page.

Somebody already mentioned it, but you need to look no further than how the NHL is covered by ESPN. Up until they acquired the rights recently, ESPN was completely allergic to mentioning the NHL for more than maybe thirty seconds late at night. Of course, now they treat it as a major sport again.

Can you tell me what Disney's political agenda is please? Are they trying to make us all gay? Are they trying to make us all women? Are they trying to make us all darker skinned? Are they trying too get us to eat babies? Or are they just giving more of a platform to typically marginalized people? No, thats not it, they are trying to make us all trans its so obvious now looking back.

Agreed. It's an attempt to normalize the LGBTQ community to the rest of the country.

I don't have cable except when the Irish season starts, then I get a cable subscription to watch and let it lapse in Dec/Jan. I almost never watch TV.

I tried, but I couldn't form a response without a profanity laced tirade, so I thought it better to not say anything at all instead of answering hatred with more hatred.
No hatred here buddy. Just facts. The only two responses you saw as an option in your view, was to spew hatred, or project your hate onto me due to my factual statement.

Hopefully a third way will present itself to you at some point.

Before anyone wants to meet me at the Y, let me preface that I am not opposed one iota to women sports. My oldest Granddaughter was a D3 All American Volleyball player and one of the younger ones is turning into a pretty decent catcher. But the bottom line is women's sports do not attract audiences like men's sports. It's not an equality issue. The play can be entertaining, but it isn't at the same level as men's, thus the discrepancy in viewership.

Now if you want to come at me, I have a 3:15 slot open today. Irsay Y as usual.

This is the common sense logic that seems missing from much of today's dialogues. "Just the facts" please.

The annoying part of today's conversations is the need to express qualifiers like "I'm not a bigot . . . racist . . . a sexist . . . a homophobe" etc, when simply trying to have a logical, factual conversation.

The reason these qualifiers feel needed is those whose broken logic assumes that one must agree with them or you are a racist, bigot, homophobe, sexist, etc.

Many have been rendered braindead due to Marxist ideologies of anti-free speech in the form of "political correctness" and other toxic cultural out-workings of Marxist ideologies such as "cancel culture". Sadly there are many, including many on this board, who do not recognize the influence of the Marxist ideological waters they swim in each day.

Back to the topic at hand. Why would ESPN push content, even making it front and center, that has historically had very low viewership and by all measures will continue to do so? . . . I'll wait for the logical answers to what seems to me a very obvious question.
