I still don’t understand how Scott Frost was so ineffective at Nebraska. He understood the landscape. He was great in prior roles.

Curious where he goes.

Matt Campbell would be OK for Nebraska. However, I think Nebraska needs to eat crow, admit they were wrong, and bring back Bo Pelini.

Frost was enjoying the status of being the head coach at Nebraska a bit too much. Apparently he was very social and partied a lot in the downtown area after games. Something rubs me wrong about a Head Coach that is visiting the bars and yucking it up after a loss.

I think there is a possibility the next coach at Nebraska is Urban Meyer.

That would be interesting.

Was he?

How much offense was he coordinating at Oregon under Chip Kelly and Mark Helfrich? He went to UCF and was an HC for two years, running on George O'Leary recruits at a job that was supposed to go to Dino Babers. When Frost left UCF, they were still very good without him for the next two years.

They weren't wrong about Bo Pelini. He's a jagoff. They were wrong about Frost.

Oddly enough, I saw that Dan Patrick heard from his “inside source” that Meyer’s name has been linked to Nebraska & Arizona St. Putting Urban on campus in Tempe is like putting an alcoholic in an open bar. I’ll link Dan’s segment about Urban below.

Shelley Meyer isn't going to live in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Arizona State or something else PAC 12 seems far more likely.

didnt he play golf to Trumpian levels also around Lincoln? Heard that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

Is it even a real coaching search unless Jon Gruden’s name gets brought up? Before his fall
from grace, it was customary to link him to any and every blue blood and new blood CFB job when it opened.

Urban Meyer would be interesting, and the ultimate test if Nebraska could return to the top of CFB or not.

*I’d rather see that “test” performed here, but we will never see that.

You think she's going to allow him to be around Arizona State coeds though?
I think she's shown she'll put up with anything as long as the money keeps rolling in. She knows he's an untrustworthy cheating shitweasel, but he's HER untrustworthy cheating shitweasel and she accepts it in exchange for a wealthy lifestyle.

Don't think Urban is the sort of guy who would want to test himself by going to the likes of Nebraska, I'd say his mindset is where is the easiest/quickest place to win

Wouldn't touch Gruden and or Meyer. I'd assume go for Freeze at Liberty before either one of those.

Nebraska can ask Aranda, but leaving Baylor for Nebraska is probably not likely. You have to go for the usual suspects at this point: Campbell, Fickell, UK Stoops. Call and ask.

NFL life could be coming to an end soon for Matt Rhule. I think he'd do well in getting NU back on track despite the NFL failures.

Chadwell is interesting but I don't know how much of a fit he really is for the Plains. His entire career to this point has been in the southeast. He's ready for a P5 job but Nebraska is probably not it. If Clawson leaves Wake or UNC makes a change it seems like Chadwell would be a much better fit for something like that.

Patrick's source is probably Dan Dakich since he and Meyer are buds.

She probably gets a massage pretty regularly. Just more discreet.

If Harbaugh left scUM would they have turned coat and taken Meyer? Would Meyer go to Michigan under that scenario? That would have been interesting.

No and No.
Agree w/those who say Meyer will take the job that gives him quickest/easiest road to winning and is willing to ignore past indiscretions in exchange for football relevance.
Michigan, with their self-imposed rules and standards, ain’t that. Neither is Nebraska with its crappy recruiting turf.
He’ll resurface at a second-tier SEC school (Auburn?), a Texas Big 12 or someplace like Arizona State.

This was a rather damning read. Wasn't aware of some of what is laid out here, but the dude was clearly inept.

Too much too soon. Wasn't ready.

But was he better than Freeman? We will know soon enough.

Frost has set a very low bar.

The biggest difference I can tell between the two is that Freeman actually coordinated his defenses. I don't know how much Frost was actually doing at Oregon under Kelly and Helfrich. He certainly fell into the UCF job and interviewed well enough to get it. The circumstances of Freeman's hire is also unique.

If Frost really enjoyed yucking it up off the field and golfing more often than working, I don't think Freeman has that issue.

The attrition here is staggering. 56 transfers out of the program during his tenure, 19 of whom never played a down. Most all ended up at G5 programs.

Definitely one of these. He'd jump at Texas A+M if Jimbo ever got canned for sure

Kind of interesting in relation to the discussion in another thread about how hollowed out our Junior and Senior classes are. From a quick count, we seem to be in the mid to upper 30s over that same time span. But someone else could check that, because I just went over the signing classes quickly. But either way, not a great number for us considering we didn't have the new coach changing the roster excuse like they did. I wonder what other programs are at.
