Angeli for QB 2022...no italics.I'm ready to change my Title.

I think we crush Cal next week and then get wacked by UNC and BYU.
Cal
UNLV
NAVY
STANFORD?
Will be our wins. Could really spiral if we lose to Cal. Buchner is likey out.
It's still baffling that we didn't grab a couple of receivers and a qb.
That would be grounds for termination at any other top program. Not at good ol Notre Dame thoughUSC, BYU, Clemson, and UNC are all losses. Wouldn't surprise me if they lost to a Syracuse or BC. My guess is 5-7 or 6-6.
BK averaged 11 wins a season, and played for the National Championship with high academic standards. It can be done if the right HC is brought inHoping they lose every game. Clean house from top to bottom. Rethink NIL strategy and academic admissions.
It's still baffling to me why we hired Marcus Freeman as HCIt's still baffling that we didn't grab a couple of receivers and a qb.
But we may have just lost our QB. Buchner may not be a world beater, but he is the best we got.We will know next week how the rest of the season will go with how ND responds IMO. I remember in 2007, Michigan opened with App State and Oregon losses. They went on to win 8 straight games and beat Tebow in their bowl. ND has the talent that they should be able to physically bully the rest of the schedule besides BYU and Clemson. Obviously, we haven’t seen that bully ball to date and it’s really been softness not seen since Charlie.

I said 9-3 going in was probably likely with 10-2 being a pipe dream. The only thing we can’t do now is go 11-1. Beat BYU and get some neat Independent Conference Champs swag.Really depends on what we see on Saturday. If we see the same personnel with the same play calling, it’s going to be a tough year. But, I don’t believe we’ll see that on Saturday. I’m deciding to take a half glass full approach because the alternative is a miserable way to live and we all deserve to be happy in life.
They can right the ship if they come out with a condensed playbook on offense with new personnel on OL including JP back at center. No more long shots to Lenzy, more balls to Zo and Tyree in space. Essentially, simplify the attack.
Defense has been enough. Is it perfect? No. But they’ve played well enough to be 2-0. No shock the unit with an incredibly experienced coordinator is holding their own but I digress. They still need to create a more consistent pash rush and force turnovers but the offense having failed as bad as they have has put more pressure on the defense to be perfect and that’s not good.
I can see a shock win against Clemson. BYU is a toss-up and I don’t see a USC win (to be fair, I never predicted a USC win this season). I think 9-3 is still possible but will settle with an 8-4 season which I don’t think is horrible considering a young staff and a young team.
Just like BK, I agree Freeman’s hands are tied, and I applied ND for the high academic standards. I also believe that 10/11 wins a season is good enough, but I just don’t see that happening with this current coaching staff. I hope I’m wrong thoughLearning on the job is incredibly difficult. Is Freeman probably over his head a little bit? Yeah. I think he’d even admit that. He might even have a little impostor syndrome going on at the moment.
But, we know what the ceiling was for BK. We had a super high floor, but a really low ceiling. And, when we made the call to go with Freeman, I think we knew that the floor would probably be lower, but that the ceiling could potentially be higher if he could recruit at another level (which he’s proven thus far he can do) and also manage the team in the season and on gameday (which thus far he’s not proven he can do).
I just want to see progress from now until SC. Progress means that he’s learning and growing as an HC. Progress means that he’s coming into his own. Progress includes not being loyal to staff or players who have proven that they cannot do the job at the requisite level.
MFMF is going to be learning and wading all through this on maybe the most public stage in college football. I’m going to choose to believe he can do it, because as Grahambo said, to root against him or actively believe every week that he can’t get the job done is such a miserable perspective to live within.
I remember 2007 and how ND was that year and I feel like that’s more likely to be the case for us. We seem to lack the talent that can compete just like we did in 07.We will know next week how the rest of the season will go with how ND responds IMO. This is another 03 at best. I don’t think we have the talent to pull something together and turn this into an ok year like like we did in 2010 or have a few big wins like we did in 04 or 08. Honestly I don’t know if we can ever turn this around given how we can’t recruit the same as the rest of the nation. Maybe the BK years were the last good years this program was capable of.I get your point cuz of the offense, but this is two entirely different things. 2007 had zero talent or depth in the junior or senior class at any position. The worst part of the 2022 team has been the offensive line where there is more talent and depth than any other position group. Are there holes on offense (on paper) this year, sure, but not even in the same universe as 2007.
A lot of people forget that 2007 was certainly on Charlie, but a lot of it was on Willingham's recruiting. The upperclassmen on that team were the players Ty did (Or didn't) recruit, and by dropping the ball in recruiting Ty set us up for failure in 2007.I remember 2007 and how ND was that year and I feel like that’s more likely to be the case for us. We seem to lack the talent that can compete just like we did in 07.

. NIL isn't a selling point to the 5 stars as evidenced by by Dante Moore and Keon Keeley going elsewhere because ND is behind the times. Championship ain't happening until 1 or both of those things become a strength not an opponent of the Football program
No, Buchner was a project not the best we got. I think the offense should improve with Pyne. By improve, I mean become slightly more consistent. Opposing defenses will not be able to sell out against the run like they have...there will be a credible passing attack. Will it be enough to ease the pressure on the defense? I guess we will find out, but I hope so.But we may have just lost our QB. Buchner may not be a world beater, but he is the best we got.
We had the #7 recruiting class in the country last year. We will - at absolute worst - repeat that this year. Next year looking good so far, too.
Maybe we can’t recruit quite like Bama/Georgia/Ohio State. And yes Freeman needs to deliver on the field if he hopes to maintain his recruiting success so far.
But recruiting really isn’t the problem, even now with NIL. We’re bringing in the talent to win 10 games and hang in the Top 10 of the rankings. The sun will come out tomorrow.
0-12. Rip the bandage off. Hire Fickell or someone better than Fickell, he retains Carr and builds a connection. We go all out NIL.Hoping they lose every game. Clean house from top to bottom. Rethink NIL strategy and academic admissions.
Freeman has been the coach all offseason. He has seen how bad his Quarterbacks have been in practice. You are facing OSU in game 1. If your QB stinks, the #2 stinks, and then the #3 stinks even more... this is the free agent era of college football. Buchner must be a really nice guy to not want to hurt his feelings. At the end of the day who is evaluating talent? Cannot ride on "he was a 5 star" that one time.the last 5 years of the Kelly era, mediocre QB play was bailed out by a great offensive line, which kept the O on time and moving the ball down the field against average opponents. While Buchner isn’t as good as Coan or 5th year senior Book, this is the biggest problem with the team. Not sure how much of that is on Freeman.
9.5 wins is Kelly’s averageBK averaged 11 wins a season, and played for the National Championship with high academic standards. It can be done if the right HC is brought in
