has anyone had more fixit/repair issues this spring and summer than me because first my water softener went out on me at the beginning of march and just before i could start looking around to getting a new one installed by somebody my washer then goes out and so i had to end up buying a new GE front loader washer and dryer set then spend a lot of money getting my central air unit fixed in june. love being a home owner but hate all fixit issues that go with it and even more so since i'm not a handy guy when it comes to repairs

What a string of bad luck. The good news is you should be set for a while.

You might consider picking up some repair skills. Can save you a lot of money.

Agreed. Youtube can help in nearly all situations if you are unfamiliar with a particular task.
100%. I installed a water softener and a new garbage disposal in the last few months. Also poured some concrete beams under ACamp's old lady's bed to keep it from falling through the floor again.

You'd be surprised how easy installing a water softener is, among other things.
This. I bought a water softener for our new home last year. Lowes sent some dude out that wanted $800 to install it, more than the price of the water softener itself. Fat chance!

Never did one before myself, but with the PEX pipe stuff it's pretty easy. Depending on which style coupling/crimping rings you use you either have to get a $65 crimping tool or a $110 one. I went with the cheaper one, it was easy to use. Once you decide which tool and fittings you plan on using you just need to buy a length of PEX pipe, some elbows, and connectors. Might be good to practice with some extra pipe first before you get into the actual work, but it's really pretty easy.

To add to that, they now have what they call quick couplers. No crimping tool required.

That’s what I used. The Sharkbite connectors were a breeze.
It's almost not fair. People should have to sweat copper pipe when it's cool outside. Then have the bottle freeze up, so they have to keep warm water on the stove to bath the bottle in so it'll work again.

I don't know what the longevity is on the sharkbite connectors but they are the easiest damn thing to use. Expensive but the time savings are worth it for small projects.

That’s hilarious. I’m finishing up our house I’m building on some property. County I’m building in has zero inspections. Only ones I’ve had to do were state level (electrical and septic).

I finally finished the remodel of the master bath. Before, we had the one piece fiberglass tub/shower. When you entered both closets were on the left with the vanity at the back opposite the second closet. Tore out the closets and the ceiling so I could rewire. Moved the vanity up front and used the back space for the walk in closet.

You saved yourself a boat load of money doing that remodel yourself
Looks crisp, clean, and beautiful!
Thanks, I'm happy with it. Yeah, I figured we saved around 20K. Hats off to the wife. It was her design and material selection. I just provided the labor.

P.S. I just realized last night I need to hang the towel bar and toilet paper holder! lol
