The above all seems moot if Freeman says he's welcome back for a 7th year. Of course that's up to AD and the NCAA. If he's played 6+ games in 4 seasons then he technically could still get another season if one year is counted as a medical, right?

COVID year in '23?
Wouldn’t the 20 season be eliminated from the formula due to Covid? I thought no one lost a season of eligibility that year.

I guess that's the question. Players were getting a 5th playing year cause of COVID. If a player misses out due to medical, do they still get that 5th year?

There's nothing preventing AD from playing at ND next year from a scholarship standpoint. Kids will graduate and get drafted, there will be spots. Like I said, Freeman says he's welcome. It's just a matter of whether the NCAA gives him a medical for this year and accepts next year for COVID, and of course AD would have to be on board too.
Not true. Medical schlorships are irreversible

What if a player on a medical scholarship transfers out and transfers back in? We've had one of two players that took a medical and ended up playing somewhere else. Just spitballin'.
Wouldn't he then have to sit a year in between the transfers? Can you grad transfer twice?

Grad transfer with immediate eligibility is a one time exception to having sit out a year. If someone were to grad transfer to an institution and use that exception, he would then have to sit out a year on any subsequent transfers.

You don't even need to grad transfer for immediate eligibility anymore, right? Didn't they grant a waiver for all first time transfers going forward regardless of when you decide to change schools?

Davis will enter a crowded competition at wide receiver. While Detroit likely has its top four receivers (not including suspended Jameson Williams) in Amon-Ra St. Brown, Josh Reynolds, Marvin Jones Jr., and Kalif Raymond, the battle for the fifth and sixth spots are wide open. Davis will compete with the likes of rookies Antoine Green, Dylan Drummond and Chase Cota, along with veterans Maurice Alexander and Denzel Mims. The Lions also recently signed former USFL receiver Trey Quinn.
