Watch him become the all time winningest QB in ND history. And win 2 Heisman's while he is at it.

Brady Quinn - WHO?
Ian Book - Never heard of her
RPIII - LEGEND
Dude! Beano was right all along that Powlus would win 2 Heismans! He just saw too far into the future.

Not surprising to anyone who saw him at All-Star games, IMO. Dude has all the ability you need, if anything he just needs to fill out a little more to be game ready.

The WR situation looks really different if you assume Thomas/Merriweather are ready to be big time players. I'm not sure that they are, but IF they are, then your passing attack can be dynamic with Styles+Mayer+one other WR that can get separation. Virtually no one in CFB has three DBs that can cover an elite WR/TE 1v1. A lot have one guy, some have two.
I’ll take Meyer versus any Lb all day.

Baller. He's darn near a unicorn. Probably a half step from being the best WR in the last class and full on the next AJ Green. Heck, he just might get there with Balis.

Very happy to open this and see this report and not that he missed practice with an injury. Is it bad that was what I expected?

He is getting more buzz than we are use to out of really any freshman WR in my memory (which is only 5 minutes admittedly).

At some point this year I think he has the potential to be a starter. I've enjoyed what I've read about him so far. A shame that CJ Williams didn't join him in this class.

Merriweather still needs to add weight/strength and all freshmen WRs tend to struggle a bit with consistency and route running.

Sampson's friday practice report was a little down on Merriweather tbf
Maybe Sampson took it upon himself to knock the young man down a peg, keep him humble.

But in all honesty, he's a freshman and I think mistakes are to be expected. It took Styles a few games to get rolling last year but he was our best WR by the bowl game. If we can get some early contributions (1-2 catches and evidence he's a competent blocker on the perimeter in the run game), I'm confident we'll see his role expand by October/Nov.

Why can’t anyone be as dominant as Michael Floyd?

Dude was a unicorn.
I think 99% of freshman will have rough days. Even though wildly talented there is still a significant jump in the effort required day in and day out at the collegiate level. I have zero concerns with Tobias.
Agree 100%. The speed of the game, the more complicated playbooks, etc. I just hope that MF and TR are a little more patient if the talented youngsters make mistakes on Saturday afternoons.

BK always seemed quick to put a guy in the dog house (see Kyren Williams @ L'ville after a drop in the flat in 2019). Mistakes will happen, if they're not detrimental to the outcome of the game, hopefully the young men have short memories and bounce back quickly.

Floyd also had Clausen. Which while he wasn’t great that year is still arm talent that we’d love to know Buchner has in him for sure.

Agree with all of this

Just having exact routes and then throwing in sight adjustments based on the coverages is a lot for wide outs

A unicorn, but a dumbass unicorn. Cousin was good friends with him, both were freshmen. She tried getting him a number of times to wise up with the drinking and driving, ended up ruining his career and their friendship.

The night he broke his collar bone he went out to eat with the family. Gramps tried to pay for his meal, but he wouldn't take it because he was afraid he could get dinged for a compliance infraction. He knew to follow some rules, but not others I guess.

You'll have to excuse me, some of us have been around for a minute. I post on other boards too, not just IE, gets to be hard to keep track. I'll be happy to post it again if you liked it so much.
So your real name is Andy Cross? …I just thought it was strange that you would repost the story. Like…are you declining mentally or trying to remind/impress people that Michael Floyd ate dinner with your family? Whatever the reason, I’m glad you took the opportunity to put down a guy who ruined his career due to alcoholism.

 That's right, I'm ACross from ND Nation, you got me! I'm playin' the long game, I've been here over a decade just bidding my time.

Many people tried to help him, he wasn't very kind to all of them. He made poor choices and he paid for them during his career. If you have something to share, feel free. He was a great player, but he's no victim if that's what you're getting at. He got second chances and squandered them, and he wasn't always kind to those that cared about him.
