I wholeheartedly retract my comment made yesterday about my preference being that the staff would backed off Sam and let things play out with others first. I love this kids attitude and perspective. Old school lunch pail mentality. I’ll be pulling for him big time.

Nice write up in his local paper, which includes a few quotes I hadn't seen from the services.

No drama, just Notre Dame for Reagan's Sam Pendleton

Thanks for sharing. Good read. Really confirms what most have been saying in that he is your swing guy; Harry apparently called him a "puzzle piece" guy who could play anywhere. His own coach thinks he could be great in any spot including "really special" at center. Jamie at ISD compared him to Robert Hainsey. That's a whole lot to like.

Coach said he's the best lineman ever to play for his HS.

“He’s definitely a technician, but when he gets his hands on you it’s over. He could be a really good tackle, but he could also come in and be a physical guard, and I think he could be a really special center.”

I understand the sentiment and I very much appreciate where her feelings are, but "commits" taking visits is just how big time recruiting works.

She's lookin out for the team and her son, though. ++

Doesnt make them men of character however. One's word is one's word.
We can ignore that and say it is what it is all we want but the fact it is wrong and just another example of how low our society has dropped when a man, who is supposed to lead the family and our country, word means very little as long as the right paycheck comes along.

"tHey'Re jUSt kIdS"

Appropriate way to proceed is accept more verbal commits at a position than intended--especially if one of them is a 5 star

Then if you do end up getting a LOI fax from Jimmy Five Star and Joey Top 150-- well sorry--Eddie 5.8 is just going to have to find a new school before the second signing day

Its got to start cutting both ways, especially with NIL and the new transfer rules

Once money is involved--nobody is "jUst A kiD" anymore. So is the way of the world

Don't get mad at the Bowens and Keeleys but also don't weep for the Irvin Jrs

OOh fucking vomit. I tend to think grown ass men getting in a snit over football recruiting is a more emphatic statement on the general softness of certain segments of our society.

This isn't about us or our fee fees. Kids and parents will do what they think is best for them and they should. FB programs do, as well.

In fact, the FB program is the one screwing up if they don't recruit with these contingencies in mind...which seems to happen too often at ND.

We're just here for the ride.

That was my first thought too 😂

The ND internet thought that dude was going to win a Heisman for a minute just based on that video.

Shoot, remember thinking Ewell's pool time was a sign for him being a 3 year starter future All American DT?

Vomit all you want. You SHOULD be vomiting regarding the lack of character and morality in our society, not making excuses or openings for it. It is one thing to admit that it is what it is, another thing to make excuses for it when you see it.
I dont care what people call it...what is best for them, etc. At the end of the day, your word is your honor. If you live your life doing what is best for you, then laws and morality is nothing but words on a piece of paper. A concept in the wind.
Unfortunately, honor is a dying concept here in America.
