Wallace seemed sincere with his apology and most forgave him. I'm sorry you'reunable to do so. I hope you receive such in your life for any mistakes you make. I know I certainly hope so for my own mistakes. People change over time and none of us were always perfect.

I'm not religious and not trying to follow any religious leader's example. I wasn't a Wallace fan or apologist. I just know that he was complicated and not all this or all that, and he appears to have genuinely changed and regretted his former ways. Isn't that what we want from those doing wrong? Most of those his actions hurt the most accepted his apology and believed he was sincere. That seems a much better path than remaining bitter about it forever.

So you're saying that even though he apologized, asked for forgiveness, and changed his ways - all of which is what we try to get a person who did wrong to do - you still hope he went to hell?

I don´t think God remains "bitter" after sending someone´s soul to Hell for unforgivable eternity.
That´s Catholic, though...
I am not "bitter" either, just unforgiving and hoping Wallace is in Hell.
Even mortal sins can be forgiven if someone confesses and is truly repentant. There may still be a punishment, but that doesn't mean someone is forever cutoff from God's saving grace.

I know little to nothing of Wallace, so I won't comment on the extent of his sins or any possible pleas for forgiveness.

Man you’re really pushing an agenda for this man. Maybe your pity for him would be better spent on those that suffered under his staunchly segregation and anti enfranchisement policy.

Yea you point out his 1982 election victory, but look at who it was against. Folmer was a gun wielding nut who would perpetuate his own citizens arrest. He was a guy who would bust and raid rock concerts due to their drug and promiscuous atmosphere….. in the damn 1980s!!!

He was a politician to the core. Early on he was much more liberal, losing the 1958 election to a staunch openly racist. So Wallace makes some insane racist quote that I won’t retype here and realizes to win the Bama vote he needs to be more openly racist. When he sees the tide turning in the 70s and 80s he softens his stance and flip flops again. Does he hate backs or love blacks? He doesn’t care he just cares about the vote. Scumbag to the core.

What Wallace did and believed in wasn't a mistake - it was his ideology. A mistake is using salt instead of sugar in your coffee, not advocating for the separation of races to eternity, and using law enforcement and the national guard as a goon squad against people of color. Wallace's actions were pre-determined and based on his ideology - it wasn't a whim, and it was no mistake on his part - it was a deliberate and intended thing.

Splitting grammatical hairs doesn't change the essence of the argument. Read it as "wrongs" instead of "mistakes" if it makes my point clearer for you.

I never agreed with the man's politics before or after his change of heart, and far be it for me to defend any democrat's morals or values. The point is he apologized, seemed sincere in doing so, changed his ways, and asked for forgiveness. Who are you or anyone else to say he didn't deserve it, let alone hoping he went to hell? If you feel that way, you probably shouldn't be judging anyone else.

Bro, it's not for me to decide or judge whether he should be in hell or not. Never took that position. But, to write off a man's ideology that he lived by for the overwhelming majority of his life as casually as you are invites skepticism and push back. Yes, he apologized. Whether it was sincere or not is up to one's interpretation. I couldn't care less whether he ends up in heaven or hell - it's not my decision to make, and I have enough issues of my own to deal with.

But, to call what you stated and were challenged on in my post as splitting grammatical hairs is a laugh riot. You chose the word mistake - it was as intentional as any action taken by Wallace when in a position of power. Don't get bent because you got called on it.

Nonsense. The word mistake is by no means limited to accidental or unintentional errors, nor did I use the word with such in mind. When people say they've made mistakes in their life, they rarely mean unintentional ones. Don't intentionally misinterpret anything I say.

Pruitt is a colossal scumbag. That said, I'll put money on him being the next coach at Liberty after Freeze goes to Auburn.

I really wish nothing but losses for Tennessee football.

Pruitt's a phenomenal DC, but doesn't have the personality or the character to sit in the big corner office. Him getting in trouble at Tennessee surprises absolutely nobody.

He built his resume by being DC for some really good teams. He was at FSU for one year and they won a National Championship, so what impact did he possibly have that wasn't already there for him to turn the key? Was at UGA for Richt's final seasons. Multiple stints under Saban at Bama. I never understood the hype. Then to top it off he's dirty?

He built his reputation as a recruiter and now we know why. Good for him cashing in as I'm sure he made a lot of money but the guy is overrated. That Tennessee fan revolt leading to him being hired as their HC was the perfect marriage. They all deserved exactly what they got and then some.

I'm sure he'll be an analyst in the NFL until his stay in exile blows over and someone will make him a DC or DB coach to have him on a staff.

No arrests reported for what is clearly destruction of property being done in the video show.

For winning a regular season game against Florida?

Hmm. Guess it does mean more.
