TIFWIW, but Oklahomas 247 staff writer says that Bowen isn't sticking with Notre Dame. He said he doesn't know if OU is getting him, but still.
I don’t buy it based on recent comments that Bowen has made. Did he say what his reasoning was to make that statement?

Doesn't specifically say, but he follows that up with a "no shot" he sticks with ND. Then he later states that there are "reasons" he hasn't put in a crystal ball pick for OU yet.

Well that is pretty bold. Is he saying this in a public on the record way or a sneaking on a fan board behind a paywall kind of way?

More sneaky-ish way. If was in response to a thread a poster started about getting remaining targets on their board. Seems like someone is getting played hard here.

You have to continue to let him do his thing, but man this recruitment is getting old.

I think continuing to do his thing can mean different things to different people. I continue to recruit him like he's uncommitted, until the day he stops responding or signs elsewhere. But, I do not think we should be holding this spot for him. I think we should be recruiting other S's.

I'm a huge Shuler fan. And, I think Bellamy and Minich are quality additions. But, that still leaves us with 3 S's over 2 years. And it's even worse when you include 2021 which only has Walters at S. Now, could we see Riley or Barnes move to S?

Riley is 5'11 1/2, 202. He's a healthy season away from Sniper status. Dude's rocked up and physical. Would make total sense for the change. But, until that happens, we're at real risk of signing 4 S's over 3 cycles. Not a risk worth taking, IMO.

When he says all the right things to reporters particularly nd reporters it does have that leading the witness appearance. Maybe he is just real uncomfortable giving interviews across the board. But definitely does not give me the warm fuzzies.

i'm trusting what irish insiders are saying about him not leaving. one insider said today that his mom loves nd and basically raves about the place and that Peyton not only recruits hard for the team but is part of the reason why we got Grey to verbal

So, I went over there to see what else, if anything, Parker Thune posted. He literally said that there is "no shot" he sticks with ND. Then went on to take a page from Loy's Dante Moore playbook and said that PERHAPS, there are reasons he hasn't put in a CB to OU for Bowen. And, maybe it's not simply a case of him not being confident enough to make the pick.

Clearly there is something being said behind the scenes here. Maybe Bowen is just telling a lot of people what they want to here but this starts to get to a point where you simply cannot "plan" on him being in the class.

Would be nice to have Jake Pope on campus right now…

Nice to see someone else corroborate my "reporting."

I say he sticks. If he is indeed recruiting for ND and taking visits the other schools would have to accept him to visit, right? Tell them what they want to hear to get the trojan horse through the gates? Anyone else as optimistic as me?

There gets to a point even with the finest tail, that it has pulled so much shit before you locked it down that it is always kind of gross and ruined. The vast vast majority of recruits that got there for me either didn’t stick or were here for a very short time.

No

Historically, where there’s smoke there’s usually fire and the kid ends up flipping. Not a 100% of the time but recent history has pointed to a flip.

I’ve been in the camp that I’m just expecting Bowen is gonna flip ever since he allegedly visited OU the week after his ND OV.

But FWIW, Thune isn’t as good as Drumm on the OU site. Drumm said he has the best relationship with Peyton and knows why he’s still committed and those forces are still present. I’m guessing that is that his parents want him at ND. The OU site also seemed surprised and to backtrack a bit when talk he’ll visit A&M not OU at the end of the month emerged. Again it’d still guess OU but just context.

You absolutely hold a spot for ANY 5 star. This kid was clocked 22mph in a game last year. That speed doesn't come around often. They offered Ben Minich as a take no matter what as a good back up plan. Bowen is a game changer, We can get 3 star safeties all day.

Absolutely. I think the depth of the getting played by Amorion Walker has us all gun shy.

I agree that in past regimes that was usually the case. This staff has recruiting momentum that we haven't seen in a long time. A lot of time to go here but if there is one thing that we should be confident in, it's that this staff has been relentless. I'm sure they are even more relentless with players with this type of ability.

I also get Dante Moore vibes from Loy that he thinks he’s protecting Peyton for god knows what reason. He’s knowingly not reported some of Peyton’s visits to OU and it takes scouring the pages of the OU board to find them.

I may not be Driskells biggest fan, but at least he gave us an idea of what he was thinking after Moores recruitment ended. The Loy puff piece on Dante reaked of CYA so he didn't hurt recruit relations going forward. He really needs to start reporting on some of this shit. It's his job.

This has a little of the 2010 lynch tuitt etc… vibes. A lot does come down to when you are fighting for top 50 and players it is Katy bar the door. It also is real fucking annoying.

But that is Loy's job. Building relationships with these young men and reporting that info. If he hurts those relationships, what good is he? We know what happend with Dante Moore, he committed and then he burned us.

This is an industry dependant on teenagers. If a recruit is telling everyone he is going to Notre Dame and then wakes up on his announcement day and decides to go to Alabama, is that the reporters fault or just the nature of the business?

All they can do is report what they know currently. All we can do is hope it works out. Hopefully in Bowens case, it works out for us.

Because if your not value added and burn your subscribers then you don’t have a job. I get it is a fine line but there does have to be the big honest reveal when enough time has passed. If my $100 a year never gets me what Devante did or the weird ass Jalen Guyton story then why should I pay for anything. Loy was crap. Loy worked hard and built one of the better if not best reps on the beat. Loy shit the bed with Moore, Moore, and maybe now Bowen.
