I mean, this is basically one hell of a sentence for both it's length and content.

THEY: "May you live in interesting times."

ME: "F*ck you."

Fun fact: There were over 5 million people in both 2016 and 2020 who didn’t vote for Trump but voted for at least 1 Republican down the ballot.

I think the knock against your 2nd point is that 2024 is Ron’s time. If he waits until 2028 he won’t be in office anymore, as his 2nd term as Governor would end in January of 2027. There also might be someone else who gains popularity between 2024 and 2028.

I also think Ron is too big of a star to be saddled with Trump’s baggage by agreeing to be his VP. He is much smarter, far more articulate, and a better debater than Trump, and he has nowhere near the baggage. He also won’t alienate the suburban wine moms like Trump did. We saw this with Youngkin in Virginia. When Trump was off the ballot and not the biggest issue, Youngkin was able to win over voters, particularly women voters, who hated Trump and voted for Biden.
All good points - a Trump vs. Desantis primary would be epic. If they have to work through a dozen other candidates it would help Trump but head-to-head Iowa and New Hampshire could build some bigly momentum for Desantis.

You could argue ending his second term in January 2027 sets up perfectly to focus on running for the 2028 presidency. Dude is only 43.

I ultimately think he’ll run in 2024. Apparently his wife is pushing him to run and the DailyWire crew, which is very plugged in when it comes to conservative politics, is convinced that Ron will run.

If the field is just DeSantis and Trump or them plus a few others, my guess is Trump will start out with a 20-30 point lead, especially since the former doesn’t have the name ID nation-wide. But after a few debates, I think there will be a fairly significant amount of GOP voters who will switch. They’ll see DeSantis as a much better debater who gives more articulate and knowledgeable answers and say “Trump had a great run, but it’s tiring and time for a change.“ His message discipline is also vastly superior. He’ll be focusing on the issues that are at hand as opposed to spending the majority of the debates trying to relitigate the 2020 election. It’s time to move on. Georgia GOP voters overwhelmingly decided they wanted to move on when they backed Kemp over Perdue. Perdue’s entire campaign was repeating a lie that he didn’t even really believe and was just saying in order to get Trump’s endorsement.

No matter how you slice it, Trump running in the primaries is very bad for the Republicans. Bad if he wins, bad if he loses. If he loses, you know he will go all scorched earth and try to burn the whole mf down. He will certainly convince some of his most devoted followers to not vote at all in the general election and some of the crap that gets slung will result in independents getting turned off.

DeSantis is the type of guy who can beat Trump. He is popular among normal GOP types and MAGA types. Would do well with women. Etc. All he needs is others to drop out before the Trump train gets rolling too fast in the primaries.

Media has tried their best to vilify him and they've failed miserably. The "Gay" bill in Florida is popular across the board, even if it might be poorly written.

Trump destroyed Jeb Bush. Just obliterated him.

Then, after a few others Trump destroyed Marco Rubio

The Trump cadre will destroy Ron DeSantis.

Florida is also the home of the Proud Boys. They will not stand down. they will be at DeSantis rallies. Biff! Pow!

There are a lot of people who are today, and may yet be, in need of pardons. and Trump need not wait, he can do it on the day after his inauguration in 2025.

It's hilarious to watch traditional Republicans ignore the carnage of
Jeb Bush
ted Cruz
Marco Rubio
Carly Fiorina
Christ Christie
Mike Huckabee
Rick Perry
Rick Santorum
Scott Walker
Rand Paul

Trump never asked Reince Preibus or his minions for permission. He just rolled them all.

and others who were tossed into the Trump woodchipper and came out as sawdust.

Young DeSantis, the Ivy leaguer, has no idea what is about to befall him.

The thing is, those guys are all cordial or doofus types.

Ronny D is not just an ivy leaguer. Hes a D1 team captain. A Navy JAG. And he's pretty good at punching/counterpunching.

To me, he's equipped to handle The Don. Whether he will succeed is another matter. But who else can jump in a cage with DJT? None of those guys wanted to wrestle with DJT.

Absolutely. Unlike Trump, DeSantis doesn’t fall into nearly every single “gotcha” trap set by Democratic politicians and left-leaning media outlets, and he can persuade better than Trump could ever hope to.

That’s my concern as well. The Democrats had no business winning those GA Senate seats. Instead of keeping his mouth shut after he had already LOST, he kept crying and promoting conspiracy theories. He even sent Lin Wood and Sidney Powell to GA to talk about Dominion machines and tell GOP voters to boycott the runoffs. This angered and mobilized Independents who otherwise would’ve voted Republican, and Democrats who otherwise would’ve been complacent and not voted since Biden had won, to vote Democrat in the runoff. These voters didn’t see David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler on the ballot in January, they saw Donald Trump.

You can say gay whenever you want to.
I wouldn't be discussing human sensuality with so.eone in kindergarten though. That would be pretty creepy.
Nothing creepy about it. I explained to my son why my sister and her wife kiss and live together when he was in First grade. Absolutely no problems at all. He loves them just like anyone else. Seems to me it’s just flat out discriminatory and teaches hate rather love and acceptance. Fuck off with that shit. I’ll teach my kid love and acceptance and grace.

Cancel culture is ok when in the GOP though. Lol.

Oh and guess what else … he has several friends that are fluid at school and he has zero problems with that. Treats them the same and uses their pronouns and everything. Accepts them for who they are. Imagine that.

Inb4 - What if I raise my kids to think being gay is wrong? You want to cancel me or call me a bigot?!

I don’t trust the gov to do just about anything right,… at the top of the list of things I have zero confidence in them is teaching sex and sexuality to grade schoolers. Good lord, again if we can’t agree of pretty basic level shit like don’t sexualize 1st graders then we need to go with God and divorce because ST is right… some random guy teaching my daughters this mess in k-5 is peak level creepy and a huge hill I’m willing to die on. Like we covered this earlier,… a how to book deatailing boy on boy bjs in a school library accessible to 1st graders??? That should be the king of all no brainers

Inb4 I think your sister is a second class citizen. Fight me.
Well she is,...I don't have a problem with it,...I just don't want her to be allowed in polite society. It's just weird,..

It's great because the idea of "sexualization" is that by saying some people have partners who are the same sex as them is way too much and oversexualizing them. I'm sure they don't tell their kids why mom and dad live in the same house and sleep in the same bed, cuz that's not sexualization. It's like the whole Disney fiasco when nobody could justify why there wasn't uproar about sexualization for kids in movies like little mermaid.

It is a no brainer. For kids who see stuff and ask questions like my son did at the same age an age appropriate answer is no problem. Not even being able to answer a question at the single most important place of learning outside of home almost all kids go to is one of the places it should be able to be answered. Lol. What the actual fuck? It’s literally a no brainer for a kids teacher to answer questions. It’s just a bigoted bill and makes gays subordinate to other “normal” kids. I got no problems not teaching sex and sex Ed but a teacher not being able to discuss a kid or explain his friends identity to a kid who asks is bigotry and promotes hate undermines a healthy mental state at school where most kids spend the majority of their day.

I’ll let you speak with sister so she can explain what her day to day life was like in the closet for her entire school career. Not nice. Lots and bad baggage. Growing up Catholic and couldn’t be who she should have been. Lives everyday with the thought she is going to hell. Still dealing with it after 50 years. I don’t wish that on anyone.

All it takes is a bit of training on the situations which teachers get all the time on all kinds of things. Refer the kid to the guidance counselor. Refer the kid to someone more qualified if you don’t want to answer but to outright ban any discussions is wrong. 100% wrong. And it’s not limited to instruction. It’s meant to stop discussion.

Well when you choose to be gay this is what happens. Why should my straight personhood be diminished to make some one who chooses to be different have the same rights I’m entitled to.

I’m perfectly entitled to stuff these un-normal people in the political locker and take away their rights. I’ll sleep just fine…. Until I discover my daughter is gay….

This was the sort of thing that prompted the bill.

People can argue about whether it went too far or is sloppily drafted or whatever. But teachers/librarians/admits fucked around and found out.

I'm sympathetic to the gay community (particularly of yesteryear) because I'm sure it ain't easy. But parents should be able to send their kids to school without worrying their kid is going to be marched around in a mini Pride parade or stumble on a graphic sex novel in the library.
