Even if you're not a Rees fan, I'm not sure how you can watch his first few season as an OC and come to that conclusion, unless maybe he slept with a significant other of yours along the way.

I watched the games and his offense mirrors Kelly's grab bag shit. Maybe he will come out with his own version. But up to this point in his career I am NOT impressed.
You can be unhappy with his style of offense, but to say it sucks is ridiculous. They've been top 20 in offensive FEI both years and were 21st in SP+ last season. Like come on man

We hung 47 points on #1 Clemson in 2021, which was an elite team any way you slice it. And we regularly score 30+ against "good" teams. No one is doing that regularly against elite teams (including us!)

Clemson was missing key defensive players. What happened when we played again and they were around? We got clubbed. Your other point I will have to break it down game by game. But what do you consider good? Looking at schedule last year just reminds me how pathetic it truly was. Ouch. Our best win was over a overrated Wisconsin team (9-4 record).

You don't like Rees because "his offense mirrors Kelly's grab bag shit," which implies a schematic problem. What is it? You want him to RTDB like Stanford? You want to run Leach's Air Raid?
We have fallen short against elite competition because of the talent gap, not because of any deficiency in our defensive structure or offensive scheme. How is that Rees' fault? Kelly seems to have been handicapping us there.
Go check out how Sagarin ranked our schedule over the last 5-6 years. 2nd in 2017, 17th in 2015, and usually something in the 30-40th range other years, which is similar to several other perennial top-10 teams. We don't play soft schedules.

It was softer than expected, but similar in difficulty to the schedule Clemson and Oklahoma played.
That Cincinnati team was almost entirely 4th and 5th-year seniors, and they had the 3rd most players selected in the 2022 draft (9) behind only Georgia (15) and LSU (9). So no, if you take seniority into account, I'm not willing to concede that we had more talent than them. They also had a better QB in Ridder, and Kelly's mismanagement of our own QB room really came back to bite us in that game.
I'm not sure what your point is with the Fiesta Bowl loss. Okie State had the 2nd best defense in the nation, and Rees' game plan saw Coan break several Fiesta Bowl records and gave us a 3 TD lead with 1:06 left to go in the 1st half. Our offense did more than enough for us to win that game, but Mike Elston shit the bed in his tryout for the DC job and Freeman didn't step in the take the wheel from him soon enough.
Miami offered Rees huge money to move to Coral Gables, and Kelly tried to make him the highest paid OC in CFB at LSU. It's only a matter of time before he ends up on McVey's staff in LA. Those guys are a lot better at evaluating offensive coaching talent than you are.

I didn't say "top 20 is the best and all we should aspire for". I said top 20 was pretty good for a first time OC and definitely shows the potential to get better
