This is best case scenario here. It shows that Carr is doing whatever he needs to do to help ND get the best players. He knows it's Moore or bust for '23. Now, it's "If not Moore '23, then Carr '23. Focus on '24" It sounds like he wants two five star QBs for ND in '23 and '24 and that's amazing.
I’m not sure that’s the case because I think CJ thinks he is good enough to beat him. My personal opinion is that CJ is the perfect fit for the 2023 class. He is mature, everybody likes him, he is 17, he is a good student, he is taking online classes to prepare, he would benefit tremendously by being in the system for an extra year before he starts, it would tremendously help the 2023 class to have him in it. I think our chances with Julian are better than our chances with Dante.

I am very unsure of what Dante wants. I am starting to think it’s not money, but simply that he always was going to go to Michigan he just wanted to play out the recruiting process and make them beg for him. Maybe it is money. I think his indecisiveness and if he actually told the staff he was in, shows his lack of maturity. As another poster mentioned, is he a kid you worry about leaving every year to a higher bidder? Do we want that kind of kid? I think he’ll have success, but possibly at the expense of everyone around him. Even if he always wanted Michigan, he did 0 to help their ‘23 class by playing games. If he chooses TAMU, we know why and he totally wasted our time and frankly everyone else’s too. Regardless of him being a big time recruit, there are some red flags. In a perfect world, Dante commits to ND, we have Carr the next year. If I could have him I’d take him. Even if he is just chasing money and left after a year, we’d still have CJ.

Sounds a bit like last year. June seemed a bit disappointing relative to the hype, but by July/August things were looking much nicer.
Next week you have Jagusah, Bell & Greathouse, who I think will all choose ND, just not right after the weekend.

Bell will on July 1st.
Jagusah said end of month he will start the process.
Greathouse is taking other visits too.

Not sure if Wagoner has the green light?
Love & Hamilton are a ways away from deciding unless something changes.

I don't mean a fit from a class numbers/makeup perspective. I just wonder if he's even a fit from a cultural level. If all this NIL talk is to be believed the kid is more interested in chasing the bag than his future. I think he's a pass and won't work out even if he does get to campus.
If all he cares about is the bag (which I do not know if that is true), and other programs are offering him more than ND, then he won't come to ND. He knows what he's getting in to if he comes here (and if we offer less than the other programs he is considering).

I thought the latest theory was that Dante wants what Notre Dame has to offer and told the staff he's coming here, but then Dad saw the package Tennessee put up for Nico Imaleva and decided to shop his son around to known high bidders.

Now, maybe Freeman & co. don't want that Dad drama, which is fair. But Dante himself is by all accounts a stand-up kid, and in general maybe let's not cast aspersions on a 17-year-old none of us have ever met because he's not making the biggest decision of his life on the preferred timeline of a bunch of message board randos. If the staff wants to keep pushing for him, I'll trust them.

Essentially what you just said is that dad controls his life. If that's the case now, it usually doesn't change when you turn 18.

FWIW, Kyle Kelly at rivals put future casts in for Gray, Flores and Hanafin.

He also did for Cam Williams and Jack Larsen in 2024.

Out of all the guys Notre Dame looks to lead for- J Moore, Hanafin, Gray, Flores, etc- I think Flores is the one that could slip away.

Two really big OVs coming up for him. I hope we can survive those.

I think OSU could take him if they want.
But a small part of me almost believes he decided to go ahead & commit to ND & that’s why all the picks.
But is going to wait until the 3rd as planned to announce.
I just can’t see all the picks for ND with the analysts all knowing he is visiting OSU still unless something happened.

I hope so too. Not only is he a good prospect but I think he's ready to contribute right away which is huge for ND's depth situation.

Greathouse says he is moving his decision back to the fall.
Says he can’t decide between his top 4 right now.
Says he needs to see them all play in the fall since they have new staff.

So I guess he wasn’t a silent like different people suggested.
Not good.

Where are you seeing this?

Regardless, his OV is in a few days, that’s the staffs jobs to close, don’t think anyone thought it was completely over ahead of that.

Ryan Roberts interviewed him a little while ago.

“I’m pushing my commitment back to the fall but Notre Dame is definitely a top school for me for sure. I don’t feel ready yet and with my top 4 schools having new coaches I want to see what the on field product looks like.”

Meh. Don't hate it but we will see after this next visit. With a kid so close to UT, wouldn't be the worst if he waited longer to see how dysfunctional they are yet again. Will have a lot of pressure to stay home.

One school is promising Arch Manning, the other no longer is getting Dante Moore. Could have spooked him. It sounds like Jaden basically took that quote from Dante lol.

Isn't Arch back to trending towards UGA/Bama recently?

Wiltfong is reporting that Bama is looking to get two of Arch Manning, Eli Holstein and Dylan Lonergan. They are expecting Bryce to go pro after next season and want one of the other two to pair with Eli.

Should ND push some recruits’ OV’s yo the fall like they did with MPemba if they have said they are waiting to commit?

Should ND have Greathouse OV Clemson weekend instead?

what idiot would enroll at QB somewhere in the same class as Manning? What's the pitch, you'll only have to wait 4 years to play?

I have always wondered what the heck a player was thinking. Sure, maybe they have the "Im superior to anyone" way of thinking but why go somewhere that one screw up could set you on the bench but you could go somewhere else and be a hero to the team. Makes no sense. And trust me when I tell you, short of the babes, Bama is nothing special campus/college wise.

If you can manage to beat him out, it's the easiest gig in CFB. Near guaranteed national title, high NFL pick, etc.

The thing about getting Arch Manning is letting him rot on the bench is going to cause you a bunch of issues with the CFB public. He's going to get every second/third/fourth chance to succeed.

Arch Manning has a better name, but not a better skill set than those other two. If his name was Arch Mansfield, he’d be a low four star guy. No cap. No italics. Arch is beyond overrated because granddaddy and his uncles are who they are.

That is just plain ridiculous.

If his name wasn’t Manning you wouldn’t be saying that.

You think Nick Saban & others care about the name or getting the best players?

He’s just under 6’4 and still growing, has a great arm, very accurate, athletic, and is considered very intelligent with super high football IQ. Then it turns out he has elite genetics…

That paragraph above, without naming him, is a 5 Star QB.

Having those genetics should be a bonus, not a negative.

So Ken Griffey Jr. turns out to have a borderline HOF brother, along with his All Star dad, & they have a nephew who is a great hitter, elite fielder, elite speed, super high baseball IQ, endless worker, with elite genetics… But yeah, no one would draft him because it’s just his last name…LOL

This was my thinking too. He could be the best thing that ever happened to your team or the worst. I can't see a Manning as a backup. I could be wrong, but I think there'll be a lot of pressure to get him on the field. At a place like Bama, that could become an issue when you land 5 star QB's every year. I think I'd rather have a Dante or Nico just for the fact that nobody would be expecting anything unreasonable (at least from Bama's point of view). Either way, he's a damn good QB and I'm sure he'll be great. I see a bit of CJ Carr in him.

I think Arch is overrated but also think he’s still a 5 star QB. I think if you’re rating on potential which most of the services do, it doesn’t make sense any/all that have Nico I and Malachi Nelson below Arch Manning. If you haven’t watched, you don’t realize how often he bailed himself out with his legs. TON of running highlights and comes off some throws when he does stand in. Doesn’t possess Trevor or Fields like athleticism at the next level though.

Tier A: Malachi Nelson or Nico I
Tier B: Chris Vizzina, Dante Moore, Arch Manning (and CJ Carr)
Tier C: Jackson Arnold, Jaden Rashada, Eli Holstein (and Drew Allar, Cade Klubnik)

A deserves the eventual #1 pick type potential hype. B are 5 star prospects. C are high 4 star type.

He didn’t have the same hype, but Mac Jones was the same class as Tua who was a 5 star. Can work out if you buy in and know you need a couple years to develop.
