Loy putting in more over time trying to get this QB recruiting narrative right.

A small yet important nugget from this VIP article is that, apparently, Moore's ultimate destination will no longer play a role in CJ's decision. Basically, he could end up at the same school as Moore, if it's the right fit for CJ.

You do know that maybe, just maybe, teenagers change their minds on things, right?

Recruits shouldn’t base their decisions off competition in the portal era. Particularly good ones.

Read a few different places that there was discussion within UM that if they lost on Moore, they would push Carr to reclassify to 2022. Not sure if that is an option at ND or not.

It would probably depend a lot on Carr's academic background. I can't imagine it'd be easy to reclassify at Notre Dame.

Regardless, it's cute at this point that Michigan fans think "if" they lose on Moore, they'll have any say in what Carr does/doesn't do. Seems like they're getting beat hard on both in-state five-star QBs at the moment.

Just goes to show we should always take recruiting insight with a grain of salt. It's always skewed to drive clicks from the team's fan base. Granted, I do believe ND's beat is slightly better at being objective, but the slant is still there. Michigan fans don't feel this way because they live on a peninsula. They feel this way because this is what their "insiders" are pushing.

This seems to be "the sound of one hand clapping" by Wiltfong.

Was it a legitimate Crystal Ball or just click bait, like his shameful, fawning, desperate CB of Amon Ra St. Brown from the stands during a USC ND game?

Whether it is in the 2023 or 2024 class, I think the staff needs to make a move at the QB position. The Dante Moor storyline seems to change daily and I don't trust it at all.

I think Freeman/Rees can get a 2024 QB in June if they play their cards right.

I agree tell Sayin and Carr whoever wants in first go ahead. Lock up 2024. Then the staff can just wait out Moore

Despite what either of them say I think they'll both wait and see what happens with Moore before truly deciding.

I'm sorry but I still have a hard time seeing Carr go anywhere other than Michigan in the end. And I'd be wary of a commit this early in the cycle, especially given the likelihood Rees is elsewhere by the time the '24s sign.
If Carr wants to commit, great, but I don't think you let up on Moore.

Idk if it's really that crazy that a legacy skunkbear isn't that sold on a football staff that dipped their toes in the NFL waters, assumed they got the job and basically packed their bags, only to come crawling back after he got passed up for the position.

That's why scUM is struggling so hard on the trail after their most successful season in over a decade.

Harbaugh is a strange cat; I know several people who have met him and that's not just a tv persona, he's as strange as you likely imagine. I can see why HS players, even legacy ones, aren't ready to hitch a ride on that wagon.

SAYIN > Carr > Moore ;)
This is my opinion as well. Carr is at Notre Dame this weekend. I am quite weary of putting too many chips in his basket. Sayin is very good and doesn't live 50 ft from The Big House and have the last name Carr. If we miss on Dante and then miss on a '24 kid with the same all in strategy, what then?

If ND wants to win a national championship they need to be in on any 5 star QB in the Midwest. Those happen to be from Michigan in 2023 and 2024 and maybe 2025 too. Not gonna win a Natty being scared of Michigan.

We also don’t know how CJs family likely feels about Harbaugh these days.

Regardless of where they come from, we need to get in on 2 or 3 every year instead of pushing for one and then waiting

Yes, the key is not going all in. The kids don't feel extra special and choose you because you go all in. All it does is screw you over when they find a better fit.

Julian Sayin has been to campus 3 times before his junior year in HS, was our first QB offer (something Rees takes seriously to a fault), and has discussed commitment timeline with the staff as well as post Rees. He’s not taking a backseat IMO.

Perhaps CJ Carr throwing for Rees on Sunday will help him gather a bit more data about who he wants the most. Although, again, I go all in on both this round. I'd take the first to commit and not look back. Sayin is every bit as good as Dante as a passer and a far better runner. There's been a lot of talk about the Dante effect on recruiting. Honestly, nothing would make people settle down about Dante and excite recruits like an early commitment from a 5 star '24 kid.

We were in on 2-3. We recruited Arnold and Vizzina for months before pushing for one.

We may not even lead for Moore if he wasn’t from the Midwest, so while certainly I agree ND should be going coast to coast to find the right kid, you have to pursue the built in advantages when you can get them

I cannot help but assume that if Notre Dame leads for both Sayin and Carr (which by all accounts they do), and it is also known that Sayin is closer to a decision than Carr, that as it stands right now, Julian Sayin is our QB, not CJ Carr. It is much nicer having two quarterbacks of this caliber that we lead for because it puts a bit of pressure on them to make a decision.
