Whether you are a Vizzina guy or not... i think some people need to stop assuming that we could have landed Vizzina easily, if we wanted him. Or that we were Vizzina's favorite. There has been a lottt of talk that Clemson would have had him regardless of how hard we pushed. Of course that could be wrong, who knows......... but it seems like many here think it was a slam dunk, and i dont believe that was the case at all

Could it be that the ND staff knows more than we do about who we should go for and which kid is favoring which school?!!?!?!?! (or is that insane to think about)

I think Arch would actually be lower, if not for his last name.
So, if anything Arch is catching a break with his name.

He is great, but I do not see how he is better than the rest of the top 4.
With that said, I would never bet against a Manning.

Wut? If Avery Johnson is a sure bet, then Moore is a surer bet.

I certainly have zero "hate" for him. He has the measurables and film of a 3-star QB. He's being projected as the #1 overall player based squarely on his perceived intangibles.

If anything, he is getting "love" because of his name.

Some of the decisions with regards to Arnold and Vizzina are getting stretched what the decision and mistake were IMO.

On Arnold, I don’t believe we turned down a commitment from him, unless I have missed something. ND may have led, but Ole Miss was very much in it and then bang, local and much better program OU has Jeff Lebby. ND had discussed with Arnold if he was going to pledge his commitment he’d have to shut it down, as I assume they discussed with all three. Arnold was not prepared to do that, as he likely saw his teammate visiting OU and OU as a very possibly destination for him, the rest is history.

The question then becomes could you have pressed for a commitment and then withstood Arnold visiting elsewhere? Could you have pressed for a commitment and then convinced him not to? Given he committed on the spot to OU and has visited there like 8 times since, I am not too confident in the answer being Yes.

Vizzina I’ll keep it shorter, Dante Moore told the staff in some way or another he was committing shortly after his visit. This has been repeated multiple times by Loy that they were under that expectation. So the only question with him to me is, what made that “commitment” from Moore so strong and what would be the worst possible scenario letting Vizzina still visit? They end up with 2 commits? Is there a scenario where Moore “decommits” and Vizzina still chooses Clemson? I suppose. But we still don’t know what exactly Moore told ND is the issue.

With Dante Moore -- he had the lowest upside and worst underclass film of any of the "5 star" guys ND went after. Does not have a huge arm or great athleticism, you are banking on size + accuracy + polish to make him a top tier QB. And that might work out fine! Sometimes those guys turn out to be Rodgers or Mahomes after a little development. But he's closer to a Josh Rosen than a Cam Newton in terms of having the skills or athletic ability to take over a game by himself.

At least he's not as laughably overrated as Arch Manning.

I watched Moore's highlights and there's plenty of passing of him being accurate between 30-40 yards, he is good at throwing through windows and throwing on the run.

still haven't heard a rebuttal to my post from yesterday evening; what's the concern if we DONT get Moore but do land Carr or Sayin next cycle? Of course that's a hypothetical, but Moore, at this point, seems like a very nice luxury, not a need. SWING. FOR. THE. FENCES.

Not that big of a deal. Just makes landing one of them all the more important. Sayin and Carr aren't exactly ND locks. Assuming they will pick ND is again, swinging for the fences. Adding depth in '23 is the most important thing. Dante recruitment is a threat to that potential depth. Some don't want to admit that there is a legitimate chance we add nobody to this class at QB. That's a bigger issue than missing on Dante Moore.

If all you want is depth.
Then why not swing for Dante, and get a 3 start backup replacement? Or a transfer?
Getting depth is not hard buddy.

We will get someone this year. We just don’t know who yet.
If Moore goes elsewhere, some three-star with high intangibles who is currently committed to some other team will happily flip to Notre Dame in the fall. Worked out well for Ian Book.

this is what plenty of us have been saying, I concur wholeheartedly.

Plan B: Identify the 3 or 4 star guys you are comfortable developing, this class.

Plan C: transfer portal.

But the sky is falling if we don't land one player in the #1 class.

Maybe some of us are being too rational *gasp* but until I hear the beat express that there is a legitimate threat to ND, I'm not going to panic and I'm placing my trust in Freeman/Rees.

point was made on II podcast you have to agree with. If ND lands Moore then basically Moore or Buchner won't finish their careers at ND cos neither of them is gonna wanna be a backup

Or we could get stuck with Pyne transferring, Buchner not being that good, Angeli not being power 5 quality. Way too many unknowns which is what makes Moore's recruitment so important.
