When these guys list is like 10-12 schools, it would be nice if the gave them some type rating. You know the interest in some is stronger than others.

They should rank them by NIL $ amount and add all bids received by Jan will be considered. Winner will be announced at halftime of All American Bowl.

The OU 247 board moderator said that the A&M figures were $25-30M for the last class. They arranged deals worth $25-30M. What the actual F is going on out there, lol.

ND should aim for 50 million. Money should never be a factor.

I get the general feeling here but the money wouldn't be coming from ND, just like it's not coming from A&M. It's coming from donors. A&M is just lining up the deals. Which is the part that apparently ND is not doing and which I also think is not within the rules. What ND needs is some boosters to pony up some dough and start getting some kids signed, lol.

In fact, I'd love for us to get involved in some way, and I can do my annual NIL contribution to ND's recruiting class.

The issues is NIL is driven by boosters, not the school. And I have a feeling that the graduates/boosters of schools like A&M and the like have far different views than ND alumni on how they would like to spend their millions.

Was thinking about this when seeing all of the swag on Foskeys page sold out. Can't we make a page with shirts/jerseys of all the players and/or commits where they receive the proceeds?

a&m also has a much bigger alumni base than ND. Of course ND has many more subway alums than a&m, but non-alumi aren't really known for ponying up dough to their non-Alma Mater. Parents of students and alums are another big base for donations, and yet again, a&m has a big edge on ND in numbers. Plus, not sure how many parents are overly anxious to send extra cash on top of the 300k they're already forking over to ND for their child's tuition and room and board.

We can obviously substitute most D-1 schools for a&m in the above scenario. ND is at a big disadvantage with NIL.

ND treating their student athletes like just that, actual student athletes, can be another disadvantage for ND when it comes to NIL. I know Lucky just mentioned it above, and others on here as well, but I think the chance to get great training and coaching and to GRADUATE from ND is already a pretty big advantage in life. I do pretty well, but I'll keep donating my money to actual worthy causes and those in need, rather than an 18 year old who is about to get a free ride to ND AND great coaching and training...and who may end up being a diva and leaving the school anyway. I'm sure many other subway's like me feel the same way. Whereas at most of the other schools, nobody really cares one way or another whether the kid gets a degree- parents, teachers, coaches, administrators, and kid himself, all included.

I'm a lifelong ND football fan (grandpa, parents, sister are grads) and an A&M grad. The A&M alumni network is insanely dedicated to ensuring the success of other Aggies. The culture and traditions really feel like being in an enormous cult. It's a level of devotion to a university that I have not seen within any other student/alumni base, Notre Dame included. I got my first job offered to me on the spot when the alumni owner saw I had worn my Aggie ring to the interview. The entire main office was was covered in maroon carpet. This wasn't a small company either, they had 1,000+ employees.

And when you talk about the traditions and culture, everything is built around the football team. Thursdays standing in line outside the stadium for two hours to get the best student tickets available, Friday night yell at the football stadium, Saturday games, and the rest of the week spent talking about how the ol fightin Aggies played and who they play next Saturday. They even have a word for students who don't participate in the traditions - 2 percenters. I'd say it's more like 10%, but even so, you're probably looking at an alumni base where 90% of students/alumni from a university that had an enrollment of 72,000 this year are DYING for a football championship and absolutely will spend the money to make it happen.

All that to say, I don't think trying to essentially buy players is a battle that ND is going to win in this new landscape. I'd prefer to see them try to stand out with the creativity of their marketing of their players, while enhancing their place as the school to pick if you're an elite football player who wants a true college experience and not a semi-pro football career.

Keep swinging for the fences.... Eventually gonna hit a HR
If ND can continue to win 10 or 11 games this year and prove there will be no drop off in on field production during what is just the start of recruiting top 5 classes, recruiting could go to the moon.
Brian Kelly gets a LOT of credit for being a program builder everywhere he has gone, but if Freeman’s coaching acumen matches his ability to bring the community, alumni base and high end recruits together around the football program he will truly take this program to the next level.

While I agree with you completely, I think it is very unrealistic to expect Freeman to be as good in year one as Kelly is in year 30 when it comes to on field coaching. The hope is that Freeman eventually becomes great, and combined with his recruiting prowess makes us a powerhouse. However, I am sure there will be growing pains along the way. Kelly was very good at winning games.
