idk but some of you ELITE'S need to get off your high horses...whatever a kid and family choose is their choice to make...500k is life changing...never know what the circumstances are and even if they aren't in line w/ what you would steer your kid to, doesn't make THEIR decision wrong

Hell 500K would change my life. Couple that with a free education and the kid, if he plays his cards right, will graduate college debt free and maybe without a house and/or car payment.

If we're going to be bitter to anyone, it should be to the system and/or ND for not adapting to the change in times. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

But ND has adapted to the changes; enter FUND. The difference is they're staying in this side of the rules and avoiding pay for play which is what's happening here with WVU.

This 100% correct. Imo they should se a limit such as the plays can't make more than 150,000 dollars during their time in college. That is still going to be life changing as well.

Should set a similar limit how many millions these non profit institutions make then too.

It'll take a few years but at some level the market will take care of this. Paying a high school kid $500,000 to come play for your favorite college football team is - most of the time - not going to be a good investment.

Definitely market correct when it’s both not worth it and when kids don’t get what was promised. This is one I’m surprised by the overall reaction (not anything about your post and if even true), which surely is because we’re on the losing end. The “hometown hero” getting a deal to stay home for the little guy and spurn the big bad Penn St, Notre Dame etc is likely a story outsiders will look at as one of the NIL success stories.

Until he transfers to USC in 3 years.

Feels like a few months ago Singer and Loy got everybody all worked up in here about ND's chances. Things obviously didn't go the way most of the people here wanted.

Just a few snippets I've heard via back channels, I'm not too perturbed about this guy not coming to ND.

Don’t do that. It was dirty pool when stuff like that was posted on Clemson’s 247 board in reference Absher. Unless you’re willing to grab your stones and share what you’ve got, just don't.

I know three people who saw him play in person multiple times and based on that sample size of performances didn't think he was a superstar. Not that they know more than college coaches, obviously, but if you're going to see a four star recruit play live you would expect if not at least hope for some big play type of excitement. This didn't happen on multiple viewings from three different guys I know who played college ball and coach.

Being from that area, they also seemed to be keyed in on the idea that WVU was more of a front runner than ND was despite what Loy and Singer were saying back in late winter/early spring. There was genuine interest, but RG came to conclude that ND wasn't really going to be for him. Which is fine, right? Why force the issue?

That's really all I have here. I hope that's satisfactory.

If you or locals just doubted his skill, it’d have just said that from the jump haha. The cloak and dagger seemed to imply other things. I somewhat agree, and posted as such, in that I don’t agree with his ranking, but the loss here is the skill set. We aren’t littered with shifty slot playmakers which even if a tad inflated on his ranking, Gallagher is.

You know, I have to remind myself that often times you have to walk on egg shells in a lot of these threads.

I'll be certain to be more succinct moving forward.

I vote to let it rip my spats that seem to take up the drama here used to be called a normal Monday when past members were here

There’s talent here and enough P5 coaches believe that. I happen to know a few guys who think he’s okay and lean toward him being a better fit at WVU.

Not arsed about him going elsewhere. WVU is a good opportunity for him.

Ok, we r all Nd fans here so for those who havent been to wvu for school, parties, games etc, you wouldnt get it. What was Lou’s quote? “For those that know ND, no explanation is necessary. Those who dont, no explanation will suffice.” Its a lot like that…but very different haha! Wvu is badass and for a local kid getting NIL loot, makes sense.

I would be for setting some rule you cannot make money off your likeness until at least game 1 of your freshman season.

They'd just sign agreements where payment is deferred until then. It's simple, the NCAA can set any rules they want but the same old schools will break those rules and the NCAA won't enforce them.

Even deferred. Wouldn’t any payment to the kid for their likeness destroy their HS eligibility? Or do HS not have these restrictions?

Not sure. I’ve not heard that come up. I would think most would be paid after their senior season ended (November) anyway.

Seems like it depends a lot on the state. Rules are all over the map, and quickly-changing.

Young man could do he and his family a big favor by avoiding that bowl of mediocrity.
