Yeah, if they suspend the tax I could see Big Oil just using that as an excuse to move prices to compensate. Even if they didn't move prices artificially by lowering the tax you'd see people start driving more again which in turn will cause price to go up regardless. Best thing to probably do is increase production and tax exports to try and deter from selling abroad. With Russia finally getting sanctioned on their energy again there could be some desperate countries paying a lot more than the US for oil, no sense in sending it overseas when we need it here.

Our President is telling us lies and the media fact check machine is absent.

JFC, do they think people will buy this crap? The war in Ukraine has been going on not even 2 months, but prices were going up long before that. I know all politicians lie, but c'mon...we're talking just 7 weeks ago.

When you've done nothing and don't know what to do, make shit up. When the media works as a protection racket, you can do this sort of thing.

I love how he says "what people don't know is" like hes doing us a favor by giving us privileged or classified data that only exists on his teleprompter.

Umm, do you really need to ask this? Have you not seen some of the ridiculous lies they've told their followers over the years... and their followers gladly believed? Think 'bout who we're talking of here.

This is indeed positive information but there still seems to be something awry. Here in my state, the unemployment rate is under 3%, which is pretty comparable to the pre-pandemic level. The majority of businesses that I have frequented still have an often dire need for employees as most businesses are still understaffed (including the ones I am involved in). Other places I have visited over the past year are seeing the same issues. As we know, quite a number of businesses closed during the pandemic which would have freed up folks for new employment. However, the “understaffed” problem is much more apparent now than prior to when the pandemic began. Have all of these businesses experienced substantial growth as compared to before the pandemic began? I think not and at least not enough to cause significant staff shortages. Many of the restaurants here can only partially fill their tables because there are simply not enough employees to service them. Restaurants here are giving signing bonuses and competitive pay ($14 to $16 per hour even for part time). It’s not just the restaurants either……office, retail, trades, etc. Where are all the workers? Plenty of folks still file for unemployment……..and I’m quite sure our population is not decreasing. I don’t claim to be an economist but I have started and run several businesses and something is not adding up with the statistics.
I am concerned about the issue you raise, and very concerned about the VANISHING of the work ethic.

I find it confusing to include restaurants, not wrong just confusing, because the pandemic taught SOME people that you can get healthier, tastier food at home. So to me that's a tad of a red herring.

But otherwise, what you say is correct.

And I'm not trying to be glib here, but a lot of the under 30's are more concerned about weed, tatoos and cellphones just three hallmarks of a toxically narcissistic generation.

Really glad I didn't spend those monthly child tax credits, ended up having to pay almost the entire amount back yesterday. We make less than $100,000 combined, this is the first time we've ever had to pay taxes instead of getting a refund. I rather dislike giving money back, especially to the government. It should have been an optional opt in, not an opt out.

A little weird. We filed for an extension on our 2020 and 2021 taxes. We just filed our 2020 last week. Filing 2021 next year. 2020 we somehow got money back and then some of the "stimulus" money we would have received for whatever back when they were handing out money.

If you received the monthly checks from July to December last year you may be in for a surprise when you file 2021 then. Keep some money in the bank. It's nice that money helped contribute to the record inflation we're seeing now, and yet for many of us it's getting sent back.

We have 3 different corporations and a lot of property in different parts of the country. Add Covid, add extended family health issues, add the fact that I have lived in a camper the last 9 months while building a house things have been chaotic. That’s the short version I guess.

Filed electronically last Friday. Got a letter from the IRS yesterday. As soon as I saw the envelope my pulse rate went up, thinking we're getting audited or we owe some money. Opened it to find it was a thank you letter for filing electronically. How many millions could be saved and heart attacks avoided if they didn't mail these?

Please keep Vice President Kamala Harris away from the Space Force. Instead of visiting America’s southern border or even Ukraine, Vice President Harris went home to California for a big speech at Vandenberg Air Force Base on Monday.

"Space is exciting!" Harris cooed in that faux-bright tone we use on 6-year-olds confronting broccoli at dinner. "It affects us all and it connects us all," she continued. Spoiler alert: it gets worse.

With Space Force service members arrayed behind her for the big speech, Harris announced the U.S. would halt "destructive satellite tests," where your missile blows up your own, old satellite on orbit. "These tests are dangerous and we will not conduct them," said Harris. Then she called on all nations including China and Russia to join the ban.

Here’s the kicker: the U.S. has no plans to blow up satellites. The only true American anti-satellite test took place in 1985. It was actually a pretty cool event, involving an Air Force F-15 fighter and a special missile. Then in 2008, the U.S. shot down a broken spy satellite, carefully timing the impact so the chunks would burn up in the atmosphere.

But that’s it. That’s the whole U.S. record, two anti-satellite shots. For Harris to make a unilateral pledge, to stop something the U.S. wasn’t doing anyway, was bonkers.
