Also there are a couple Benfica players that are absolute stars in waiting. Nunez for sure would be a great get for anyone.
Reddit boards seem to believe that Nunez is ETH/United's top target this off season (thank God it's not Kane). Followed closely by Rice. I think Rice is more of a need, but perhaps with ETH's system, Fred/McTominay can make it work. Either way, it'll be a few years of Europa League I think.

While I agree completely with you, I’m not sure what I wouldn’t do to make the next round and all the ones that comes with it. Liverpool have made like $80 mil so far in CL. Have to think I’d time waste and take some yellow cards to get in MCs heads a bit.
It was no surprise to anyone how Athleti played yeseterday. That manager, those players, that cauldron of a stadium. Their plan was going to be as overly physical on City as they could and then hope to pip one. They didn't get the goal in the end.

I'll give City a ton of credit because a few years ago they probably wilt under that kind of pressure. Especially in Champions League. They withstood everything those thugs threw at them and moved forward. Guardiola has a good record against Simeone.

Livperpool kicked Athleti's ass in the group stage. I'm still beaming over that.

Nunez and Rice will probably be two of the most expensive players on the transfer market this summer not named Halaand. Nunez's release clause is something outrageous like $150M. Liverpool just played two matches against him so I am reluctant to fall in love with a player that just played well against the team I support. I have honestly not seen him play apart from that. For $150M, a smart director of football could buy you an entire new front three.

Rice, is English, so if West Ham sell him to another club in the Prem I think about what City just paid for Grealish and have to assume that West Ham is going to ask for the moon in addition to having to pay the English tax for a media darling. You are right about him being more of a need for United, but you could get Neves from Wolves for a lot more value. Rice doesn't have a release clause as far as I know.

There are a couple of different ways to skin a cat. If United is going to spend all that money on two guys, that's certainly one way.

As a City fan I found the game extremely entertaining. Total clash of styles. Felt like watching the Steph Curry Warriors take on the old 90’s Knicks. City is more mentally tough for having gone through it, I worry about the physical toll it may have taken on them. Gonna be a fun final 6 weeks.

It's been reported that about 70M will get the Nunez deal done. Apparently he just switched agents to an England friendly Mendes also.

I'd imagine it'll cost around 100M for Rice, and that'll depend on if West Ham finish top four or not. However, I agree Neves would fill the role fine.

With the hopeful sellings, I'd imagine 150M would get the two done.

The Pat Riley 90 Knicks were EXACTLY in my mind yesterday.

Nunez seems like he plays in the same spaces as Sancho, Rashford, Ronaldo, Elanga, and Martial. Somebody is going to have to go, otherwise you're just bringing in another player that likely won't be able to work with the ones you already have.

The bidding on Nunez STARTS at $70M. He has City, PSG and Chelsea (they were prior to Ukraine invasion anyway) sniffing around as well. If this release clause is really nine figures, that's pretty steep.

Rice is $100M regardless. Englishman playing in England. You could get Kalvin Phillips and Neves both for that or pretty close.

As far as defensive midfielders go, everyone stay off Tchouameni at Monaco. He's Anfield bound. LOL.

Martial is gone. Ronaldo has one year left. Nunez would be playing up top, the others would be wingers. Rashford can play up top, but he's at his best on the wing.

City is getting Haaland, Chelsea can't do anything currently. Not sure about PSG honestly.

I have heard Tchouameni is goign to Madrid or Barca (I think it was Madrid), but we'll see.

Again, what's more important? The midfield and back four are glaring areas for that club. Spending all that money on another attacker just seems like business as usual.

Probably ture on Haaland, thought I'm curious to see how they will play with him in the fold. They're pretty good as it is with what feels like 15 midfielders running around at once. His wages are going to be insane.

PSG has no issues as far as anyone knows, and FFP is basically dead, so they can probably do whatever the hell they want.

I still can't comprehend how Madrid and Barca are still rumored for all these players when they have financial issues. Is it habit or did something change?

Again, how can Real Madrid afford this?

And aren't City signing a striker from River Plate?

If City can sign Haaland, I'm not listening to another person call the SPFL a pub league. City and Liverpool are miles ahead of the rest down there.

Did Jesus make it known last offseason he wanted to leave, or am I just being hopefuly?

Not entirely sure how Barca and Madrid can buy people. You know they couldn't make up their debts from last season, the same debts that led Messi to get out of there.

Someone reported City are going to give him 30M Euro salary, 70M in agent fees, and 75M in transfer fees. Insane.

Liverpool are the only reason the Premier League isn't a pub league already. If City sign Haaland, it probably moves closer to happening. Maybe if they manage to win Champions League Guardiola rolls out to take the Brazil job or something, but as long as he's there the money isn't going anywhere and they will be a force in Europe. I honestly don't know who replaces him once he's gone.

He misses matches with injuries, and nobody knows how he's going to stand up to the physicality of England versus Germany, but I think it makes the margin for error for everyone else that much more. If you have any hope of winning the title in this era, you can't drop points. Like drawing away is bad if you want to pace City.

I think the days of drawing 10 times and finishing with 80 points being enough are long gone. 80 points might get you fifth or sixth.

His contract is up in June 2023. I don't know the situation there as it pertains to why he isn't the main man in their attack. He seems more than capable of being able to handle being in the middle of a front three there. Scores against big teams in big games.

Imagine City winning a treble this year and Haaland becomes their highest paid player with a German Cup listed to his name. I don't deny his talent, but that makes for an interesting culture in the dressing room.

Steffen needs to leave City. He's had a rough day today. I would think he needs to go somewhere he is gonna play every week?

Trent won 100% of his defensive ground duels today against Foden, Silva and Grealish.

He was absolutely rock solid today.

@ACamp1900 are you a Celtic CSC member for your local chapter? I went to my first game at one when I was in Chicago and might be going to the one in Philly for tomorrow’s game. Pretty psyched way to start off Easter morning.

Would def one if I lived closer to the city, as of now I’m about an hour and 15 from down town.

Nah,… the one in Cali was on the other side of LA from me and I’m not aware of one here,…

I’m also a total introvert who detests interacting with people if I’m being honest lol

This is a 12 team league and the last time not one of those two won was like 1984. I am not a screaming for parody guy but thats the definition of a bullshit league

Until a team other than City or Liverpool win the league going forward, I wont hear it.

Horrible performance from us today. Jota completely off it. Carter Vickers was my MOTM but if he makes that sitter it's 2-0 and we win comfortably.

I’d put Chelsea in there too.

Hate to hear your thoughts on the Bundesliga
When I started paying attention to Bundesliga they had several recent random winners. I like Bayern but the league would be a lot more fun if other clubs won or even kept it close.

City apparently agreed terms with Haaland (500k/week), just have to trigger the release clause with Dortmund.

Pub league. I'll be watching Celtic and Serie A.
