Rees officially just put his nuts on the table and is taking a big time gamble. If he doesn’t land Moore, I’ll pack his bags for him.
Comments like this are strange to me. ND's top QB target is a heavy ND lean at worst. Is Rees supposed to tell his #2 target, "No you're not allowed to commit to a school until we're comfortable with you committing somewhere"?

Exactly, who is to say that Rees didn't said "You can commit, but you have to be okay with Dante Moore possibly committing also."? Maybe Vizz wasn't okay with that and moved on.

With Moore we are basically past trying to decipher if Rees played this right or wrong IMO. If Moore is Irish and we learn or hear the reason why they were so confident all along, he was right. If he’s not Irish, it’s probably his biggest mistake to date. We’ll know at some point, just in a torture, I mean waiting pattern till then.

Right! Based on the ND beat's collective confidence (and my own speculation), perhaps Dante Moore has told ND when he's going to announce, and that he just wants to take OVs because it's a once in a lifetime chance to take them.

Definitely. I just cannot remember a time where the entire ND beat was confident that ND was landing a prospect, from Loy, to Singer, to Prister, to Sampson, and ND didn't land him.

The chances that Moore is head and shoulders the best QB in this cycle is quite small. It is far more likely that there are a handful of guys, that we look back on and think of as a group of elite signal callers. Rees trimming his board to 1 doesn't make Moore better, it just narrows Rees's chances of landing one of the handful. It's completely unnecessary.

Rees sent out 7 QB offers this cycle, and had ND strongly involved with 4: Moore, Arnold, Vizzina, Avery Johnson. Avery Johnson is a freak athlete but not polished enough to be a take. Arnold committed to OU on a visit early. He recruited both Moore and Vizzina until ND was in an extremely strong position to land Moore, his number 1 target and a top 5 overall recruit in the country, and Vizzina decided to commit to Clemson. That's not bad recruiting, that's just.....recruiting lol. And if the nightmare scenario happens, Rees can 1. attempt to flip Arnold 2. Attempt to flip Vizzina 3. Send out new QB offers.

Dabo has a knack for finding and developing elite QBs, so the odds of Vizzina blowing up and making us all hate ourselves just increased substantially.
Maybe.

Boyd, Watson, and Lawrence were all great coming in. Watson and Lawrence both tops for their position in class. DJ Uie... (whatever) was probably ranked higher than 2 of the 3 on the list but has been awful.

They have also signed Hunter Johnson #2 QB #30 Overall, you could maybe throw a Chad Kelly in there. Kelly Bryant was rated low and did meh...

Anyone remember Grubl? Old school troll on this board. He replied to that tweet. Holding form.
Bang Bang Notre Dame Gang FB group still exists. Its just called "The Grotto" now. Not sure how active they are. Ol Peter Zabrewski or whatever kicked me off the page years ago.

We could also try to get him in a couple years if he gets recruited over and is tired of watching Klubnik abuse the ACC.

Yeah, because an undergrad from Clemson is going to clear admissions...

There are a few programs that Clemson is very good in and I’d see on the same level as ND (engineering for example) but as an undergrad I’d expect their core requirements to be a significant departure from that of ND.

Is there a reason we’re so convinced Vizzina even wanted to come to Notre Dame?
Yeah he had a visit scheduled but he’d never come previously. Southern kid. Looking at a bunch of Southern schools.
Not sure why we act like he was Rees’ to lose. Or that he’ll jump to transfer here in two years when Tommy’s coaching on Sundays.

From Northwestern and highly rated.
Sure. But you're missing the point - ND limits itself because of the small pool of schools it allows UG transfers from. What happens when NW, Duke, Stan, Vandy, etc don't have any quality UG transfers next season? Back to grad students only...

Well aware of the current dynamics. My point was they are there regardless of the school. The amount of kids that enter the portal in the FBS is over 1,400, so I'm not worried about the well drying up.

Agree. Hard to believe that a kid at a Christian school in Birmingham Alabama was a Notre Dame lean.

a lot of missing the forest for the tree here with Chris.

It isnt about if he was likely to end up here or not. Or even that it was Chris from the South visiting Southern schools. It could have been Tom from the West or Eric from the East.

It's that we didnt even give it a chance for what appears to be no reason at all.

There's no reason for a early March visit cancellation when our #1 target wasnt/isnt even close to a decision timeline.

I think in a equal way you’re missing it though and asking for ND to just be something it isnt. Brandon Joseph was the top safety in the portal and one of the overall top players in the portal. He chose ND because it’s ND, academically in part. I saw Georgia, the defending national champs, fans complain they didn’t get him. Is NDs academics going to keep us from some kids? Sure. But are others choosing us because of it? Yes. Are others not transferring because of it? Yes, just as important.
