I'll take under five snaps for Purdue's QB to leave with an undisclosed injury because of Jordan Botelho.

Just as likely is Jordan takes a targeting penalty and gets ejected lol
chopper, sick balls.
If he's coming off COVID protocol I wouldn't expect to see him getting tons of snaps. I don't think we know what his conditioning is, and Kelly has him listed as an and/or 2nd string I think on the depth chart. I'd expect they work him back in slowly.
I was in the house today kept looking for him but only saw him on special teams. Forgot he switched to #12

Anyone else think he looks smaller than last year? IDK if the staff wanted him to be more mobile or what. Looks like he should gain 15+ pounds IMO but I guess i'm not a strength coach.
Jamie U echoed the same concern I have. Botelho is a SAM in a D with no SAM. One point I will push back on though is while we don’t play Wisconsin weekly, there are games and downs/distances where he can very much be an asset, and that might be one of Freeman/Goldens biggest tasks to properly figure out.
Just working the board into spring practice shape lolAppreciate the info but man do I hate these bumps
66% chance of it being bad news during this time of year:
-Transferring
-Injured
-Excelling

Maybe at Mike since Bauer and Bertrand are both Seniors? Not sure why things didn't work out for him at vyperwith 3 years of eligibility remaining i'd love to see botelho get a shot a LB.
I think the staff (old one) really may have just projected wrong, positionally, on Jordan.
And if so, kind of a major boner. Would be nice to have JB entering his 3rd year as true LB, if that is the path he is on now.
Has he been able to get on the field, with all his flexibility and disruptiveness that he showed in the spring, at whatever position he's been playing?I think we have exactly what they recruited. Lea recruited versatile players that projected to multiple spots and did so for a reason. He liked position versatility and was big on having differing skillsets in "the room".
Botelho was a very versatile player in HS playing both edge and ILB spots and doing so in-game. For all the talk about players coach. Freeman was a scheme coach last season. He didn't adjust his scheme to his players. He forced players to fit his scheme. Lea would've had a completely different take for Botelho to utilize the skillset they recruited.
Keep in mind, Botelho was insanely disruptive in Spring/Summer practice, playing from the edge while being moved around, and Freeman noted as much. So much, in fact, that the concern was, what happened to Foskey?
Freeman had a full Spring, Summer, and Fall season but couldn't find a fit for him while running Bertrand into the ground, playing Foskey at LB, and playing a converted DT at a 7T to 9T in the 3DL.
The decision to utilize the 3DL without substitutions essentially destroyed all chances that Botelho had of getting sub package work. We chose to put 3 DT's (MTA is not a 7T/9T) on the DL and move Foskey back to LB versus putting Foskey down, sliding MTA inside, taking a DT off the field and adding Botelho.
Edit: I'll add Nick Herbig played opposite Jordan is HS and is a straight killer at Wisconsin. Very similar profile to Botelho, he just gets to play.
Foskey was usually with the 1s against Blake Fisher. Botelho was against the 2s or 3s even which we now know was a mess of a OL.Keep in mind, Botelho was insanely disruptive in Spring/Summer practice, playing from the edge while being moved around, and Freeman noted as much. No and that's the point. We clearly have a disruptive and versatile player that Freeman couldn't get involved. I think the old staff projected this one quite well. I mean, the Elko/Lea Wake Forest model is all about versatility. That's what the Vyper and Rover defenders are. Hybrid players. Freeman just didn't seem to embrace that much last year.Has he been able to get on the field, with all his flexibility and disruptiveness that he showed in the spring, at whatever position he's been playing?
