Gerad Parker is a name to watch to fill TE coach per Loy. Co-offensive coordinator and receivers coach at West Virginia. Him and Freeman have worked together at Purdue and Cincy.

Definitely liking the Deland McCullough hire. . . Any truth to his sons coming to ND?

Dasan the best one , 4 star incoming freshman, just tweeted he's home at IU. So I don't think so. Good on him honoring his letter of intent.

As offensive coordinator for WVU, TEs had 17 catches for 116 yards in 2021. In 2020, they had 20 catches for 180 yards.

He has a good resume overall, but very little experience with TEs. He also has a DUI under his belt which cost him a job at ECU in 2017. Not sure how I feel abut this being one of the first names to watch

Time will tell as far as his honoring his intent, lol. Wouldn't blame the kids for leaving. Obviously the main reason he was going to IU was his dad being on staff there and his brother going to IU for the same reason. His brother (lesser talented) may not have an option other than ND. But the two younger ones clearly have better options as far as football is concerned.

If Dad leaves = kids leave, I see no moral or ethical issue with that, especially in today's NCAA world.

This seems pretty strong that he's staying at least for 2022.

I am pretty sold on Al Golden as DC and Tim Brewster as TE coach. If Brewster is still out there looking, scoop him up while you can. He left Billy Napier some pretty talented depth at UF. One guy is in the portal to UCF I believe.

I was a big Belk fan, but so it goes. Al Golden fresh off of a Super Bowl works for me.

Vince Marrow - Kentucky
Kevin Cummings - Arizona
Tim Brewster - Florida
Chad Savage - Colorado State
Kevin Wright - Indiana
George McDonald - Illinois
Steve Shimko - Boston College
Morgan Turner - Stanford TE coach

This is perhaps a dumb question, but...

How much does experience coaching TEs really matter for a TE coach?

I've been a little surprised that Tight End Coach is even a thing. There are only four or five scholarship tight ends on the roster to begin with. A small room.

Parker is a very odd name to me unless MF is helping a former colleague out here. Hasn’t coached TEs since 2013 and he is a WRs coach for 99% of his resume. Co-OC currently. He does fill the McNulty void of increased experience but are we going full on Air Raid then? That’s Parker’s possible expertise to lend. Idk, just wouldn’t be what I’d expect the hire to end up as. Does reveal an intent to have more than a position coach be the hire.

Agreed I would rather have a specialist QB coach.

I doubt he's forgotten how to coach TE's.

When you are coaching TE's like Michael Mayer it should be an easy hire.

no but to Dale's point, if were bringing him in to be more of an offensive consultant (not a true TE coach), then , does his experience fit with what we want to do? i.e. Air Raid vs our more traditional "heavy spread"

I would imagine he would have to be co-oc as well. I have a hard time seeing someone going from Co-OC to positional coach, or in his case an 8-9 year reverse in his resume.

I like Morgan Turner, Faris and Miller from this group. I doubt Turner or Faris are available though.

From the list @Rogue219 posted above.

Hard to say Marrow wouldnt be a great snag, but is he in the Turner Faris group, I think so.

I agree Brewster needs to be targeted. Available, Experienced, has something to sell in recruiting.

Shimko is an interesting coach. was a QB has coached qbs before, currently TE coach. If we missed on any of the above he is intriguing.

Ask Scott Booker...or any of the TEs that didn't hit their potential under his tutelage.
He's been with the Tennessee Titans for the last four years. Been a while since I've seen anyone take a shot at him. Didn't have that on the 2022 bingo card.

ND fans absolutely hated that cat and blamed him for whatever they possibly could. So he's in the League now for four years. LOL.

James Shibest is floating around too I believe, we already have a special teams dude but he couldn't hurt. Also would add some lovely grey hair, which is nice.

Perhaps it's an indication of where ND wants to take it's offense moving forward.

Lemming is reporting that Brewster is interested in the ND job Per his Twitter. Says the ball is in ND's court to make the move.

It very well could be, which is ultimately what I think Dale is pointing out. It doesnt make any sense for ND, UNLESS....

What tight ends from 2012-16 did he screw up so badly?

Wasn't it Brian Kelly who said that they coached special teams collectively as a staff with Booker as coordinator? Notre Dame special teams have been icky even before Kelly.

Scott Booker was a punching bag for the fan base. Never got it then and I don't get it now. Glad he's in the League as a safety coach where hardly anyone even knows who he is.

Wow. They absolutely need to get this done if that's the case, provided there are no red flags and all of the money, etc. can be agreed upon. LFG.
