Why go from Auburn to Oklahoma State? Is that even a lateral move? It almost seems like a little bit of a step back.

he was basically relieved of his duties....him and the head coach had a "difference of philosophy" for both on and off the field....this was from a report i read somewhere on twitter from a reporter

Good. He was never going to work at Notre Dame, I never got the fascination with him. Aside from different scheme (which to his credit he teaches and runs well), Derrick Mason is a guy who you make head coach of the defense and leave him alone; that’s how he operates. It was never going to work with Marcus Freeman as our head coach.

For those wanting Marcus Freeman to be a program manager CEO, I’m sorry I respectfully don’t get it. Marcus Freeman as soley a program manager would such a waste of coaching talent.

Rossi went to Pittsburgh Central Catholic and his boys are named Nico and Luca so I’m in.

Isn’t one of Freeman’s kids named Nico?

Tbh Auburn is one of the worst jobs in CFB. Completely unrealistic expectations, insane fanbase, and your measuring stick is Alabama. Good luck with that.

Even though it's delaying Al Golden, I've been pulling for the Bengals. Always liked them.

Apparently Rossi just signed an extension in December.

joe rossi gophers contract - Bing

Do assistant coach contracts generally include a buy out? Or assistant coaches free to resign at any time. Sorry, I don't know what is traditional. thanks Daniel

You’re gonna ruffle some feathers with that politeness ‘round these parts, Daniel. Names Irish317, pleasure to be respond to your question. Assistants’ salaries are made up. Urban legends. They accept any crumbles their superiors are willing to give them. Gotta earn them crumbles. Next question Daniel…

Saw a figure his salary is now $850K. ND will pay more than that. I think it would be unusual for someone like Rossi to have a buy out.

The more I've thought about it, I really like Al Golden as an option. Veteran, experienced at both levels, good coach. Great collaboration opportunity for Freeman to keep his hands on the defense. Not a quintessential "home run" but it's a great fit for what the program needs.

Yeah im at point where, if it's those two, take Al and let's get it moving. He's a dog and he built his teams around toughness.

I am pretty pumped at this point for either Golden or Rossi. The more I read about both (could be propaganda since a lot of it is sunshine pumpin 247 lol) the better they sound.

I think Golden would be perfect for ND and MF specidically given where he's at in his career/position.

I think I'm board with the consensus here -- either one of Golden or Rossi appears it would be a great fit and both SHOULD help maintain/improve recruiting and culture. I'm very excited! Now who we got coming in at RB coach???
