If they just start hitting some of the wide open shots they're getting they can make some noise. Laszewski and Hubb need to figure out how to be factors. Wesley looks like the real deal and took over down the stretch.

So sitting at 3-4, needing a big win. This game has huge potential to kick start a good season for the Irish.

It was a special night. Laphonso Ellis inducted into the Ring of Honor pregame. He was one of my favorites as a kids, played from the time I was 12-16 yrs old.
Then Marcus Freeman was introduced. The place looked and sounded electric upon his intro. Can't help but wonder if the team feed off of that energy. The Freeman Effect

And then they win in the fashion they do. The kid hits a jumper with 12 seconds left to take the lead, and then a defensive stop, followed by a breakaway dunk as regulation ends!

It felt like an upset in the making, a key game for the Men's Basketball Program. Big Win

This team needed a big win, they got it yesterday, and I think it can be a momentum builder:

Whoever the last 5 starters were on the floor-- start them. I don't remember who they were, it was an exciting game to be at. They really jived and I thought they played well together.

They rebounded yesterday.

They double teamed Kentucky's big man at the right time.

Kudos to the coaching staff for trusting Blake Wesley: he throws the ball out of bounds under a minute left and on the next possession he hit the go ahead basket in the same spot.

Laphonso being inducted...such a humble person.

Freeman speaking pumped up the crowd.

I think Wesley can be as good as Jaden Ivey for Purdue.

I don't know where to find the minutes for each game, but I felt like they mixed it up more against Kentucky than they did against others like A&M. I felt like I saw less Hubb on the court and was OK with that.

Hubb has been so bad that I'm like genuinely concerned for him. What the hell is up with him.

What I saw with Hubb yesterday is that he is accepting whatever role he needs to play. Yesterday he was a backseat guy.

Wesley is definitely legit and he will have better talent around him next year.

BC lost last night, at home, to Albany. Our loss to them is going to hang on us in the "bad loss" category if we put together a decent year and are on the NCAA bubble.

And no, Albany isn't any good.

No shit. He was supposed to be a big upgrade over Durham, and he isn't. He's one half of a Ross twin. Has one move (dribblespin) and one shot (two foot banker).

We might as well start playing the two soph big men. The two who play are no damn good.

I went. Too late to help you, but the ticket was for both games.

Purdue is the real deal. Butler had three starters out but it wouldn’t have made a difference. I think IU finally found its coach.

ND…needs players and a coach. I watched him a lot and Brey was totally disinterested. Jack has to do something after this season.

Nice win today in a weird Weds afternoon game vs Texas A &M Corpus Christi. Irish seem to be figuring it out using Wesley to penetrate and kick it back out for open threes. TAMCC was surprisingly good 10-2 with good shooters and tough defense. Damn game wouldn't have been so close if we hadn't played 5 on 7. The refs seemed convinced that they had to call an equal number of fouls on both teams even tho they were obviously way more aggressive than us. There was a near fight in the first half after on of their guys threw Goodwin to the ground and then stood over him after shoving him. They called it on Goodwin. In the second half Ryan got elbowed in the face, drawing blood. No call for the flagerant foul. Then they called a technical on Hubb for flopping which was ludicrious considering all the non calls with guys on the ground all game.

I guess if you want the good refs don't play on a Wednesday afternoon.

Prentiss Hubb with a fadeaway to win the game. Team is starting to show some signs. I don’t think we have good enough interior defense to make a run at an ncaa tourney but it looks like we’ll have some entertainment the rest of the way.

Gutty win. Nice to see Hubb starting to hit shots. Last play was a pretty easy look for Pitt surprised it didn’t go in

What happened to Nate L? He plays significant minutes and takes hardly any shots. I’m assuming he can’t create his own shot. He’s scored in double figures only 3 times all year and averages less than 8 PPG.

What a disappointment. Seems like the only one in that class that’s a star is Goodwin. This was supposed to be a great ND year, unfortunately, we are very mediocre. I can’t see us making the tourney.

On the other 2 in that class; Hubb is shooting 33%, although a little better now than at the beginning of the year; Carmody just can’t seem to get healthy.

Thank goodness for Blake Wesley or this year would be embarrassing.

He has developed some but still very clumsy going to the basket with the ball.

Hubb has found his shot. That 33% is caused by him shooting in the high teens thru the first 8 games or so.

I disagree that him or Atkinson are playing good defense. Anytime we play a major five program, their post player is able to do anything they want without much resistance. Just because they’re giving effort doesn’t mean they’re actually playing good.

I didn’t say good, just “some”, as in better. Still not good. Another four years in the program and he still won’t be good he just doesn’t have the talent

The effort is there but he's just over matched physically by most bigs inside.

Offensively he hasn't developed much of his game from his freshman year and he hasn't shot it well at all this year. He was getting/taking open looks earlier but recently it seems of he's lost confidence because of how poorly he's been shooting. Hopefully he can get one of those nights where the shots fall and he's back to his old self.
