Wow - doesn't take much for the Kool-Aid to start flowing around here. OT win vs GT who shot 22% from three. Kentucky and UNC are not the UK/UNC that took on Pat and Jerian.

UNC no, but Kentucky is a good win that will likely finish in the top 15. For whatever reason, Brey has them figured out.

No Kool Aid for me but we are playing much better than we were earlier. Learning how to play with Wesley who can break down every defense. Guys like Goodwin are getting layups. This never happened previously.

The league is really down again this year. Duke is the only team even getting votes in the AP poll and they just lost to Miami at Cameron. We could easily be top four in the league. Not sure if its even a four bid league this year however.

That's the key. It's fools gold IMO. Brey has a history of having everyone question what he's doing, then he gets a couple of wins where you think he's got it figured out and then they stumble again. This is a rinse and repeat every year. I would love to see them run the table, but Brey's time has come and gone.

Exactly - my fear is he does good enough to stick around. Flash in the pan early January and then fall apart by conference tourney time - they will blame an injury or something b/c who could possibly imagine only playing 7 and having no depth might lead to late season problems when they get gassed or our bigs get in foul trouble. Wesley makes this team watchable.

I’m not drinking the kool aid either, but like I said, the way this team played at the beginning of the year I would never have believed we’d be fourth in the league but here we are. Wesley is a super star in the making, and having a player like him in the floor means you can be competitive in just about every game. Atkinson has found his stride on offense and both Hubb and Laz have played better as of late.

But I’m not optimistic as some have said because we have no depth and we basically have a six man rotation as Wertz has had his minutes cut dramatically. So I expect fatigue to start creeping in and we’re definitely one injury away from being completely in trouble depth wise. And I have to think that coaches are going to start game planning to take away Wesley from the offense.

Looking good right now in the 1st half against Clemson. They've been a scrappy team lately, and I hate that they have me thinking possible tourney birth

Don’t fall for it. They won’t make the tourney. But I can see the temptation w/ the ACC being so down this year.

I’ll be pleasantly surprised if Wesley is back next year. Guy is a ton of fun to watch. Don’t think we’ve ever had an athlete like him.

We are making the college students who we forced to get vaccinated and boostered to wear masks at games lol. Thank God I graduated 2 years before Covid.

NotreDomer23,

Curious what you might know about Wesley not coming back next year. Are you talking about him transferring or going to the League? What are your thoughts.

I’d appreciate understanding, because that would be a huge loss.

Why? He could play himself into a lottery pick. Wesley is great but he still makes the freshman mistakes but I agree, I can’t remember an athlete like him on NDs roster.

I think he wants to play with JJ. IMO, I’ll bet he stays 1 more.

I hope you’re right and agreed that he makes freshman mistakes but they’re becoming less and less frequent.
The last two games especially, he has been dominant. He really struggled in the first half against Clemson with only 4 points and still managed to drop 20. I worry with it being a down year in the ACC, his skills are only going to be highlighted more helping him move up the board. I have seen a few mock drafts with him going in the low 20s. Hopefully that isn’t too enticing for him because he can easily be a top 10 pick if he comes back next year.

Funny thing about Wesley, someone told me that he thought Wesley’s dad was better. His dad is in the ring of honor at Ball St.

While that’s impressive, Wesley is a sure fire NBA pick and a potential one and done.

Prister said on most recent II pod that he was staying another year. Of course, things change but it would be awesome to have him & JJ on the court at the same time.

Still believe in this team but that is just an awful lose. Brey getting a T gave them the lead and momentum and then Ryan missing 2 FT to tie is just absolutely embarrassing

Atkinson fouling out didn't help.

Wesley going pro after this season...don't see it happening, he still has room to grow. His mom works in education here in South Bend; listen to mama; the NBA is going nowhere.

So is freaking Justin Mutts unstoppable vs anyone else but us? I seem to recall this happening last year too.

And Allayne? 32% on the year before tonight’s 8-10.

Its just one game, one we were expected to lose (7 point dogs) VT has our number it seems

A couple of good wins followed by a head scratcher. At least Brey is consistent.

We have been winning these types of games on our 6 game win streak but tonight it came to a crashing halt. Disappointing but we will bounce back

Amusing note in today's SBT. There is a group of "Prominent Ivy league parents" pushing for the league to reverse its decision to not allow a COVID year of extra eligibility for Ivy athletes. Atkinson could benefit.

One of those parents is none other than Jim Boeheim. Son Jimmy is a Cornell transfer.

That would be a very interesting development

ND and Atkinson would benefit. Atkinson reminds me of a quicker John Mooney.
