Should break him a few times on the field over the next couple of years as a fine how do you do

Just to put a bow on this I'm going to reiterate what I said a month or so ago -- there is a near 0% chance that someone who acts how he does is going be successful at Notre Dame. The issue is with recruiting someone like CJ in the first place, not that ND ultimately lost his commitment.
Can't blame Del for this one IMO. Feels like he was always going to end up at SC.
You can definitely blame him for the current state of the WR room, and for the fact that we seemingly don't have any backup options in place even though this has been telegraphed for a while now.
Once he more or less publicly shit on Angeli I figure it was over. He's a 4 star caliber guy, but definitely not a borderline 5 star.
Where's the contingency Del???

I think the heavy coaching staff blame here compared to the Nwankpa recruitment is….odd. Sure putting all eggs in one basket and then losing is not ideal but just recruiting safe kids is also how we consistently lose in the Playoffs.
Hit the portal. Do better in 2023. Show goes on but you gotta keep swinging.
Del doesn't understand "fit." He actually does a decent job of landing highly rated guys, but he is the opposite of Elston in terms of understanding fit. Every guy Elston gets is a hard worker and they rarely bust.
Del signs "five star" guys like Jordan Johnson. The two good players he landed last year -- Styles and Colzie -- both might have a foot out of the door because neither really likes him. He goes after guys from the deep south and west coast for the vast majority of his players. It's ok to take a flier on a couple players from those areas. But you can't be oblivious to what makes someone a fit or likely to stick.
Going to need to hit the portal for at least one and probably two WRs.

I agree with this but I think taking only 3 receivers given the roster situation next year is ludicrous. Should've tried for 4-5.

That’s where the WRs are in larger %s than lineman.
Isn't that like 99% of his coaching career too. He may just not have any feel for recruiting outside of that region. Not saying that it's acceptable.
Have we heard for sure if he's gone/back?
May those who love us, love us;
And for those who don't love us,
May God turn their hearts;
And if He doesn't turn their hearts,
May He turn their ankles,
So we will know them by their limping.
On ND commitment (in November):
“I’m pretty steadfast on that,” he added. “And I’m pretty happy. The situation there is looking good. Hopefully, we can maybe get a quarterback committed, some transfers, and you know, make it solidified. … I’m pretty locked in there. You know, being that I’m a few months since I stepped foot on campus, I am pretty locked in."
Just remember that this is the kid we are losing.
Please do not fall under the brownerfry influence and speak in riddles.Was hoping Freeman could lock this one up and Del could have another year working with Tommy, Dre Brown under MF da Closer... with Bayou Brian out of the picture. I believe BK was much of the problem when it came to how many prospects were in each coach's funnel. Everyone on O outside of TE has struggled with filling their funnels with the proper # of prospects. It's an organizational problem.
I'm confident MF will fix this.
If Del's gone, give Bailey the job assuming not even MF can close his old roommate, Hartline.

I’m hoping there has been some behind the scenes work going on with some other WRs and possibly nothing has leaked out (or the media is keeping it under wraps). I realize that this thought process may be blind optimism but it seems I read some buzz that there might be some positive surprises on signing day. I guess we’ll see soon enough. Will be interesting to watch what happens with Walker since this could push him closer to playing time (I also think he has a higher ceiling than CJ Williams).
