Would the Pirate return to the Westcoast?

DeBoer would be an interesting choice.

I wonder if they would go after a Matt Campbell type here? Or if they call Patterson since he just got canned at TCU.

Patterson would do well there. What’s the upside for Campbell?

Washington should go for Sitake at BYU. Big time hire. DeBoer at Fresno State is another option.

Jeff Choate was with Petersen at Boise and UW. Maybe he wants to get out of Texas seeing as how that's going.

Honestly give props to Washington AD for just calling it. Unless there is more to the stuff levied against Lake and it’s serious like fireable issues, which the buyout language suggests not unless they just don’t want things out in the public, I like to see them just recognizing man this is not gonna work. You certainly have to consider Sitake. If you’re willing to cut a check probably see if Aranda picks up the phone. Both might like where they currently sit too much.

The real question is where does Washington see themself? Do they wanna spend a bunch and directly compete with Oregon? Or do they as a school believe that BS Lake was spewing about Stanford, ND, Cal, Washington is their pool.

(Another job Campbell should take if his phone rings)

I love seeing comments about the UW board. That place is amazing. I think UW is in a tough spot given the amount of job openings. Send Ken N. up there and bring the option to the Pac

Washington is a bigger program then Iowa State. Would be easier to recruit and they can probably pay him more.

In terms of where both are now, ISU is pretty much on par with UW IMO. UW has been a mess for quite a while now. I'm not sure the school is really committed to fielding a winning program. They had three good seasons under Peterson and one back in 2001 under Neuheisel. You then need to go back to 1991 with James.

Wow I did not know that Florida gave up 52 points to Samford...

How do you celebrate beating an FCS school? I think I'm meeting with my staff as soon as the game is over rather than dancing with the team. Mullin has to be toast when the season's over.

With how many openings there are already, I feel like Marcus Freeman is probably going to get an offer that will be really hard to turn down. Maybe the only saving grace is that no good midwest jobs have opened yet.

I think you can def say they are on par at this exact moment. But one has reached it's ceiling and one is at a "low" point. Washington is still the better job IMO.

You will get your recycled coaches too. Then you assistant coaches from Bama will get a look.

Virginia Tech is a really good job. They need to make a good hire here so that conference can be more balanced. You figure Clemson will be back soon enough and those coordinators aren't going anywhere.

Bob Stoops isn't coming back.

I am not going to worry about Marcus Freeman leaving. He just got here but if he goes, hey, it's part of the damn business. You move on. Elko and Lea were home run hires. Freeman looks like a good one too. I don't think he's going anywhere just yet. Still a little bit more to prove.

Is Va Tech a big enough upgrade over BC for Hafley to leave?

Yeah Fickell moves on to Penn State this cycle or is gonna wait.

I've been hearing Dave Clawsen finally as a candidate for jobs. Not sure if he'd leave, but he'd do well at a lot of places, given time.

I think he will get offers but from his POV, the career arc of Jimmy Lake has to be a cautionary tale.

How's that exactly, specifically as it relates to Freeman?

A good assistant with a bright future got a job before he was ready. The program was in great shape when he inherited it but dealing with the press, managing the locker room and general program building aspects ate him alive.

I don't think Lake makes it through the year even if he didn't shove that player.
