And if I understand the situation correctly, Donte Williams will be part of the new staff regardless of who is hired.

That's not good news . . .also I am not sure Moorehead wants to be A) on the west coast anymore B) on Franklin's staff. Morehead thinks Franklin is a total dipshit, from what I've been told . . . But if they do team up again it won't be good news.

Moorhead might be a candidate for the PSU job anyways.

PSU is extremely well positioned to get a new HC if Franklin leaves. They are the ultimate well Michigan/ND/OSU is better but PSU is to good to pass up on given the opportunity. Fickell, Hafley, Moorhead (think better OC than HC still but gets mention), Elko, Pry, Campbell. Lot of guys at the ready and if you’re Fickell or Campbell I think you’d be dumb to pass on PSU at the chance you get one of the Big 3

Agreed completely on the last 2 posts.

Summary from article in the Athletic written by a PSU beat writer:

1) Singleton did love ND and was close to committing.

2) Franklin reminded the kid and the family how expensive it would be for them to travel to his games if he didn't go to PSU. Read between the lines there.

3) Rees and Taylor are still in contact with Singleton.

4) The kid is 17 and maxed out with a 415 bench, 520 squat, and 365 power clean. So PSU is telling him he's the next Saquon. And they're telling him the PSU run game is struggling because they don't have him in the backfield. Haha.

Those numbers are insane for a 17 year old if they’re accurate.

Might want to give Kenn Ricci a call. I'm sure he could organize an NIL deal with one of his aviation companies to help facilitate travel.

His dad also made the comment in the athletic article re: Penn State vs. ND.

“Even before we went on officials, Franklin kind of hit on every bull’s-eye of why he should come to Penn State, and it was like you couldn’t argue with any of it,” Tim said.“Close to home, you can’t tell me the degree will be any different. … I think with Notre Dame, Nicholas just got caught up in it. … Coach Taylor was great. Everybody there was great. … It leaked out that he was gonna commit there and it kind of went haywire at that point.”

Just a really disappointing lack of perspective from his dad regarding the value of the degree. I'm totally fine with a parent wanting his kid to go to a place nearby, and I'm not going to pretend that a state university degree won't serve a person just fine in life (I'm a great example of that myself), but yeah Tim, the degree can be "different."

Dad being a fan derailed this, sounds like may with Amorion Walker too. A michigan man is a punchline to a sick joke that too often starts with domestic abuse and institutional cover ups and pedo state lets you shower where child rapes occurred so ‍♂️ enjoy

Think there is a greater than 50% chance Franklin moves on after this season so wouldn't say that we are dead yet here.

There's a lot I want to say but I want to wait until after signing day to do it so someone please remind me to come back to this thread. There are a few recruitments -- this one, Schrauth, Rice -- where the conduct of people around them is so self-serving that it makes you want to pull your hair out. With Walker I feel differently because I think that waffling is actually driven by the prospect as much or more so than people around them.

This is what is so frustrating with recruiting. We have top prospects that want to come here but the parents try to control these players.

Wal Mart is full of parents who make stupid decisions.

I wouldn't make too many generalizations about parents since we have probably been helped out by pushy parents as much as we have been hurt by them.

My parents are Boomers. I'm inclined to disagree with you, relatively speaking, but I get what you're saying here.

ND has won plenty of signatures because mom and or dad were on board. Everyone here knows recruiting at the upper tier of P5 is a blood sport. You live and die by the same sword.

Yeah but our pushy parents have Jesus on their side.

Why the italics?

Remember when PSU recruits were tweeting about NC’s? That was fun. Now 6-4, lol.

I feel gross even saying this but probably 20% of me wanted to see Michigan win that one. PSU burning on Franklin’s way out of town seems like a good option.

Will be very interesting to see what happens in the next month up in Happy Valley. There's plenty of talent on the roster and Franklin is an outstanding recruiter, but he's average with X's and O's. Reminds me of Florida with Zook right before Urban got there.

Franklin has lost something like 8 or 9 in a row to top 10 teams. Time to flip young man.
