I don’t usually get invested in a kid choosing a school but if we lose this one it’s gonna sting.

Yeah. They don't lose kids like this with Mom's like this.

BUT

I saw this guy live & unfiltered in the element and if I didn't know who he was and had been told he was from Miami & heading to the U... I woulda said of course.

Also: Mom & Stepdad rocking the green while X remains neutral. Maybe nothing.

Maybe a plus: KHam going down gave X a view of what is AA play, what's not AA play and how he would've been the man last night... which is exactly what the 2022 season is: year one of the post KH era or as it could be known: year 1 of 3 of the X factor.

Can you elaborate? Were you at a game and he's just cocky or what? If so IDC about that. Kyren gives off the same vibes and I think he's a good kid.

Cocky is not a negative.

They pulled out all the stops. Claypool. The other commits. The interaction with Hamilton and Woodard. The recruiting machine gave it their best shot.

Sucks cuz I think we are going to get clipped by the random every 5 years perceived “good” Iowa season even though they are a fraud, they got enough momentum to convince him to stay home. Hope I’m wrong

ND is in-between Iowa and Ohio State, that's the weird part. OSU will sell football, football, football... Iowa will sell immediate PT and being a homegrown star... ND basically has to goldilocks this thing to pull it off. Seems like a difficult sell, but weirder things have happened.

Gotta hope Freeman can come through again.

Why in the world, and I speak from experience, would anyone stay in Iowa if they didn't have to?! Anywhere else in the world, including South Bend, is better than anywhere in Iowa (edit: Ames. I respect Iowa State).

This is a horrible take. Iowa is his HOME STATE! His family is there, and his friends are there. Also, as a native of Iowa and having lived in numerous other states, there is no place better IMO. Wouldn't blame the guy at all for sticking around to play football for Iowa.

I understand people standing up for their home state, but it’s a stretch saying there is no place better. I’m originally from Indiana and I know there are better places. I also lived in two different places in Iowa funny enough, Ames & Spirit Lake, & I have nothing against Iowa, and don’t think anybody should be badmouthing any state. All have good & bad. I for example, hated the west coast more than anywhere I lived, but realize why people love it.

I was not fond of the west coast either, but I wouldn't ever say I have no idea why someone would want to live somewhere. I've lived on the east coast, west coast, Indiana and was born and raised in the midwest. Every place has its positive and negatives. To me, however, nowhere felt like home more than Iowa because that is where I am from, and it's where my family resides. Basically, I would never blame a kid for staying home if it fits his values.

Well, I never lived in Iowa, but RAGBRAI'd it three times.

First, I like Pork and those 16 ounce Iowa Pork Chops!!!!!!!!!!!!

Second, I am convinced, without evidence that Iowans corral the best pork for themselves and ship the rest to the unsuspecting goyim.

Third, of the states where iI've lived or spent time, Iowa has the healthiest balance between the agricultural portion of the economy and the urban/industrrial.

Corn and cow and pig, sure, but Pella, Deere and those rascals in Red and
Black from Burlington!

And there is not the SICK rivalry between Chicagoland and downstate Illinois that is the bete noir of Illinois politics.

In Iowa, you have the Quads, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Des ;Moines and Sioux city, so you have REAL cities dotting the map.

After all, though, it is Xavier Nwankpa's life
choice
and freedom.

He will make the correct decision by the only scoreboard that counts, his.

Let X be X!

Just a heads up, but he's not choosing a school based on anything you or I write, think, or wish. I'll take Gary and it's Federal Superfund Toxic Waste Cleanup sites over Iowa City any day of the week.

Iowa is where the field of dreams is right? I want to go there some time.
I hope we get Nwankpa but I highly doubt he is going to be the next Hamilton.
Hamilton was rated high and was under rated. He just kept getting better which is the rare thing probably.

LOL, oh you're a tough guy because you're from Gary? What a clown. Let me guess, you're from there but aren't there any longer? Why, because it's so awesome or did you run out of the tougher stuff?

BTW, I'm also a Region Rat as I'm from East Chicago until we moved to Iowa in middle school. Give me Iowa all day over NW Indiana.

Apparently the toxic waste must have made its way into your water supply.

He’s selecting between universities and football programs, not who produces the better variety of corn.

This is a pretty closed minded viewpoint. Many schools get picked for other reasons than the two you have posed. Location plays a huge part for some recruits, whether that should come into play or not. Additionally, the university and football program may be great, but if the kid doesn't get along with, or bond with, the other players it may not be the place they choose. My posts weren't intended to say this guy SHOULD pick Iowa, or even that he will pick them. It was more a statement of how I can understand why someone would stay home and go to the in state school. I am hopeful that's not the decision he makes, because he would be an integral part of the class and go along way in furthering Notre Dame's future success.

FWIW, Iowa has opened as 3.5 point dogs to Wisconsin.

Another loss this weekend to take some of the shine off their magical season would be a welcome development here.

How is this even possible. Wisconsin is garbage. Is Iowa really that bad and that much of a paper tiger?
