How is this even possible. Wisconsin is garbage. Is Iowa really that bad and that much of a paper tiger?

Wisconsin's defense is alright, I think the line is banking on them being able to run the ball on Iowa successfully enough that they never need to pass the ball. Point granted that the Big 10 west is pretty sucky this year.

Wisconsin is playing much better on O than early in the season and Iowa's offense is dog water.

FWIW, Iowa has opened as 3.5 point dogs to Wisconsin.

Another loss this weekend to take some of the shine off their magical season would be a welcome development here.

Wisconsin improving and Iowa crapping out the remainder of the season would be phenomenal.

Wisconsin has an impossibly bad turnover margin for a very good defensive team that doesn't throw the ball very much.

Iowa is getting three turnovers per game and is second in the country in turnover margin.

Advanced stats systems tend to regress turnover outliers to the mean. Wisconsin is still 7th in the country in SP+, 21st in FEI, 11th in F+. By those systems Iowa is slightly better so I'm a bit surprised by the line, even with Wisconsin's home field advantage.

Iowa is basically (first half of season) ND without the players on offense to right the ship with better coaching. Good defense, shitty line/horrible offense/unpopular QB.

It seems like just 3 weeks ago when the Iowa line was held up as a standard for Notre Dame to aspire to, life comes at you fast.

They were?

Perhaps they were referring to the traditional Iowa standard and not the current Iowa product, because the current Iowa product is WOEFULLY below the traditional Iowa standard.

Iowa is ranked 117th in yards per play, and while a lot of that has to do with their non-existent passing game, their run game is also quite bad. They're 110th in yards per rush attempt with 3.1. This is slightly higher than ND's 3.0, however, keep in mind that ND's run game has slowly progressed and the numbers have improved, while Iowa's have slowly regressed. 3 weeks ago, ND was averaging 2.4 yards per rush while Iowa was at 3.4.

LOL, oh you're a tough guy because you're from Gary? What a clown. Let me guess, you're from there but aren't there any longer? Why, because it's so awesome or did you run out of the tougher stuff?

BTW, I'm also a Region Rat as I'm from East Chicago until we moved to Iowa in middle school. Give me Iowa all day over NW Indiana.

Keyboard mashing and snot bubbles coming out your nose is no way to talk to a fellow ND alum, Region Rat, and XXXX (redacted).

They are bad and have been pretty much all year, but our own ulukinatme was all for poaching Iowa's o-line coach on September 15th if we didn't see improvement. CALL OUT TIME

This is a pretty closed minded viewpoint. Many schools get picked for other reasons than the two you have posed. Location plays a huge part for some recruits, whether that should come into play or not. Additionally, the university and football program may be great, but if the kid doesn't get along with, or bond with, the other players it may not be the place they choose. My posts weren't intended to say this guy SHOULD pick Iowa, or even that he will pick them. It was more a statement of how I can understand why someone would stay home and go to the in state school. I am hopeful that's not the decision he makes, because he would be an integral part of the class and go along way in furthering Notre Dame's future success.

It was a joke. Relax.

This thread makes me sad. Region on Region crime is why we left Miller Beach.

Union Station. So sad. You can see it crumble from the Skyway / I-90.

I am in court in Gary 2-3 times a month. It is great now total quiet ghost town. Just hope genesis center doesn’t collapse on me walking down the sidewalk.

Depends on the time. There was a time it was the jewel of the midwest. Why it has all the amazing buildings now left to crumble

Gotcha, White flight had nothing to do with crime.

Had everything to do with fellow Michigan City native and Valpo alum, Richard Hatcher.

Was a time when Gary was the door to success for blue collar hard working folk. Get a job in the mill, work hard, make a pension. Remnants of that dream are still here but harder to find

Well that’s a hell of a place to go with it. As I am sitting here eating Wanna Pizza (which is the full of extent of my region bona fides) im gonna disengage from whatever the hell that pseudo race bating was before we can’t be friends anymore.

One wonders if Xavier will go through the Schrauth apotheosis.

Realizing that after Iowa's two losses and the way they lost them, that the Hawkeyes are not elite, and while Xavier can find comfort in Iowa city, when it comes to the playoffs, he and his fellow Hawkeyes will always be on the outside looking in.

Different teenagers have different priorities, but I'll bet Nwankpa's doubt factor has increased after Iowa has been exposed the last two weeks.....

Meanwhile ND was expected to be in virtual tossup games against UC, UNC, USC, and VT we won all of them except the game we spotted the #2 team in the country three red zone opportunities and 17 points. Bitch all you want about the d or Tommy but this team is now a team that fundamentally knows how to win and can get it done. I was begging for this type of team with its depth, drive, edge, chill and moxie under CW and Pre 2013 BK

This is a really weird recruitment because I think the player loves the school but ND has no bragging rights when it comes to the secondary play. Its only Harrison Smith and Kyle Hamilton, everybody else was nowhere near that kind of play where CFB is very easy for them.
