Venturing over the Ridder’s side. His TTT (Time till throw) was 1.78 secs when KEPT CLEAN. That is very quick for a clean pocket and points at what I was thinking they were getting it out of his hands before the DL even had a chance to cause issues. Put it this way. Ridder ranks second in this stat IN THE COUNTRY on the season, that mark this week beats who is first. Obviously a underrated point of emphasis for them to combat their OL.

Ill post the D PFF stuff later but preview, they targeted the hell out of Bertrand in the pass game. Denbrock had a very basic and proving effective enough plan.

Interesting and a very important part of the QB position. To me, that's Coan's biggest problem. Everything is slow and he doesn't seem to be very good at making pre-snap decisions. Of the 3, Pyne seems by far the best at getting rid of the ball quickly. It's why he is easily the best choice going forward.

Was at the game with a couple of IE brothers. This was what it looks like when a top 10 team has two weeks to prepare and the other is coming off a big win.

UC did a great job of planning their offense to take Hamilton out of the game. They spread to force him into one on one coverage and then went away from him to minimize his impact.

it came down to turnovers.

This is the offensive equivalent of the 2014-16 defense. Nepotistic hires, embarrassing performances, utter incompetence. It should not fall on the hapless AD to threaten the coach to fix this sort of thing. No serious, elite program would do anything like this.

Coan’s was 2.53 to Pyne 2.74. Last week 2.53 to 2.98.

Under pressure Coan 2.94 to Pyne 4.41. Last week 3.52 to 3.25.

Pyne holds it longer and will extend, which may avoid sacks and give him cleaner footwork for a throw but he is not getting it out quicker

Since when can Tyler Buchner not throw a football? Dude was slinging it all over the place in his highlight video and we play him like a wildcat.

We definitely win that game if Pyne starts.

But everyone who's been paying attention knows we aren't playoff caliber this year, and Cinci is definitely the best team on our schedule this year, so it may be a disguised blessing to just get the loss out of the way.

Start Pyne and work on developing Buchner here on out. Move on from Austin and Lenzy in favor of Styles and Colzie. Might as well bench Lugg and Madden in favor of younger guys too. Time to play for the future.

This post x100. Time to start building for 2022 and 2023. This isn't a playoff team, and there's no real difference between playing in the Taxslayer bowl over the Citrus bowl.

The blame has to be spread around... Everyone is making mistakes.
Tyree... Botched return.
Mayer... Key drops in prior weeks.
Austin... Drops.
Kyren... I love the dude, but he has fumbled more thus year than prior.
Lenzy... Drops.
O-line... All have played poor at times.
Bertrand... Gamer, but he has missed pays at times.
Kizer... Played a bad game.

All these kids have talent and have played well at times, but lack consistency.

Common thread... Coaching.

This team could end up 9-3 or 8-4 if this stubbornness to trot Coan out there continues. Pyne and Buchner have to be front and center the rest of the way. There is better energy with them and it’s so obvious.

After what we’ve seen thus far I think assuming 8 wins is a mistake. Despite starting 4-0 the season can still go off the rails.

That’s Kelly and Ree’s for you. They think they are so much smart than everyone else. Everyone knows that when he comes in the game 8 out 10 times it’s gonna be a run. The out 2 are going to be short throws. This is why he needs to come in a take some chances down the field make the other team at least 50/50 in the thinking.

Critique Book however you want but you cannot say Book didn’t do at least what Ridder does. We literally had better than Ridder last year.

Doing some looking, Book and Ridder will have very similar college careers from a statistical standpoint.

I will retract my statement to reflect Books name instead of Ridder.

“We need someone like Book every year. That should be the bare minimum for this program. Someone who can play 4 quarters without wetting the bed.”

The one caveat here being that Buchner has to have more of the playbook available to him. Can't keep using him as a one-trick pony unless the end game here is to absolutely derail his development.

Very true. Stanford is playing well and we struggle against them even when they aren’t. I don’t know that another game we can say is a given. I would say that about Navy but this defense scares me against them. Yes I know Freeman coached against them before. Still scares me.

Honestly? Once he got to ND and started getting coached by Kelly and Rees.

Wont be popular with some but history says it's the truth

Postgame Thoughts:
1) The offensive line continues to be the downfall for the offense.
2) In the 2nd quarter Pyne should've went in instead of Buchner, if he goes in the game I think he gives us a better chance at coming back.
3) QB depth: 1) Pyne 2) Coan 3) Buchner
4) When Pyne came in during the 3rd quarter the crowd went nuts. With this offense he give us the best chance at winning.
5) Sit Buchner for the rest of the season unless if you are going to expand his "package." Don't forget he only played 1 year of high school football, I don't think he is ready, and don't rush him.
6) Mayer was the only bright spot on the offense.
7) What if Austin makes that catch in the 4th quarter?? Not only was he wide open he had room to run.
8) Hard to knock on the defense- those 2 interceptions we threw were right to Cincy, our offense put our defense in bad field position.
9) Cincy is a very beatable team, they had 1 job to do yesterday and that was to be the better team than ND.
10) It pisses me off when the opposing fanbase takes over the stadium with their chants- Toledo and Cincy did it yesterday.

Go Irish!

I was worried about this game especially while being it confirmed that Wisconsin is trash this year.

Most of us thought this would be a down year but with a manageable schedule.

Kelly has done a very good job but I just don't think he gets us a title, I could be wrong if recruiting ticks up.

I think the alumni maybe should make a couple calls w urban squirming in jaxville

Book is the winningest QB in NDFB history. That's probably not a realistic floor.

We all expected this to be a rebuilding year coming in. After watching the OL against FSU, we all knew this team isn't playoff caliber. And we just lost a very winnable game against what could be the toughest out on our schedule. There's no reason we can't win 10+ games this season and an excellent recruiting class.

This year is chaos. Only two of the traditional powers are as good as advertised. Lots of teams used to strong line play are struggling behind weak OLs. If you think this feels bad for us, look at Clemson. That's the team we're trying to close the gap on, and they're even more inept on offense than we are.

Cannot believe the game after BK becomes the winningest coach in history people are calling for his firing again…during what we knew would be a rebuilding year. Anyone who brings up Urban again should be banned. HE IS NOT AN OPTION AT ND. How many times do people have to say that?

Good grief. He also has the most losses in ND history.

Forget about Urban, how about Fickell? We were utterly embarrassed by a program with far fewer resources and less talent on paper, but plainly superior coaching.

When will the tweet of congratulations for being the record holder of most losses be sent?

BK hit his peak, and from here comes the fall. His inability to give up offensive control ( hiring friends or past players), and lazy ass offensive recruiting is his downfall.

You’re missing the point. You’re stressing the desire for UC to want the tickets. The problem is the opportunity to even have them.

I could have bought tickets to those games yesterday all the way up to kickoff. What do you mean not available?

i think that’s his point. Most fan bases wouldn’t be making their tickets available to people right up until kickoff especially when it’s a matchup of two top 10 teams.

I also heard the price dropped to $60 for tickets…at least that’s what someone posted

I want a coach for whom losing hurts more than winning pleases. I'm not sure that Kelly's instincts are aligned with most of ours. He seems to give up complex advantages during the game (field position, momentum, etc) far too easily trying to outsmart the other team's staff -who are also really smart and can see Kelly coming a mile away.

For all the expected and tiring talk of who needs to go and what is and isn't acceptable - we have a team who all knew wasn't the same quality as the last few years that was playing the best team on it's schedule and we're still saying we had opportunities to win.

From that level hard to say coaching is an issue.

the game came down to this Bad interception that took 3 points off the board
Bad interception leading to touchdown.
really bad muffed KO leading to a FG.

We lost by 11.
