.........I think the issue here was that he was MIA to the point other world leaders couldn't get in touch with him while the stuff in Afghanistan was happening.

It looks bad. It is bad. But whatever I guess.

man, that was 4 or 5 days ago!!!

It's interesting how Biden goes away for the weekend and suddenly that's a big deal. Four years of weekend golf trips to Mar A Lago didn't seem to bother a large portion of people.

I for one don't understand how the POTUS can leave the White House every single weekend. Then again, we're electing guys in their 70s, so maybe I CAN understand it.

To me, with the services POTUS is provided and the amount of stuff that actually gets pushed off to the cabinet members day in and day out, I have a really hard time stomaching the fact that both Trump and Biden leave the White House nearly every single weekend. On tax payer money at that. BOTH doing it actually bothers me equally.

All presidents go away occasionally to their ranch, personal home, Camp David, etc. No problem. You don't do it during the middle of a major international crisis that's of your own doing and an epic embarrassment and foreign policy disaster. It's tone deaf to the nth degree. You roll up your sleeves and at least give the appearance that you're burning the midnight oil in the Oval Office and care about dealing with the situation. The optics are extraordinarily bad.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Tells Biden in Video, ‘You’re Not a President, You’re a Piece of Sh*t’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) posted a video on social media on Wednesday in which she called President Joe Biden “a piece of shit.”

The video was posted on Gettr, a new social media platform launched by former Donald Trump adviser Jason Miller.

“Joe Biden, you’re not a president,” she said in the 17-second video filmed at a gym. “You’re a piece of shit. Thousands of Americans are stuck over there in Afghanistan and you’re letting the Taliban kick your ass while you’re lecturing governors about masks and vaccines. Do your job. Bring these Americans home.”

The Biden administration is facing fallout over the rapid deterioration of Afghan security forces in the face of a Taliban resurgence. Kabul, the capital city, fell to Taliban forces this week and with it, the country.

Gettr was launched in July as a conservative alternative to platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, which many conservatives complain are biased against liberals. After her account was temporarily suspended by Twitter last month, Greene railed against the company.

She said, “Twitter, who is playing a big part and a role with Big Tech and Facebook and the White House – apparently the Joe and the Biden administration – in censoring Americans, along with the communist cities in communist California who doesn’t [sic] believe that America first represents their values.”

Greene has perhaps been the most unfiltered member of congress since taking her seat in January. She has compared Covid-19 restrictions in Congress to the Yellow Stars of David the Nazis forced Jews to wear.

This should certainly help foster collaborative solutions that benefit all Americans.

But there's one thing to notice here.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...police-ashli-babbitt-exonerated-b1906296.html

The Capitol Police officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt during the Capitol riot has been formally exonerated after an internal investigation found the shooting was justified.

NBC News reported the development after obtaining a memo from the Capitol Police.

The officer has not been named.

During the 6 January riot, the officer fired on Ms Babbitt while she and other Trump supporters tried to force their way into the internal chambers of the US Capitol, where lawmakers were still being evacuated.

In April, the Justice Department announced that no charges were being brought against the officer. The conclusion of the Capitol Police's internal investigation ends the official inquiries into the shooting.

Video shot during the riot captured the moment Ms Babbitt was shot. In the footage, Ms Babbitt - cloaked in a Trump flag - can be seen attempting to climb through a broken window into an interior chamber of the Capitol. When she’s about midway through the window, and officer can be seen leveling their pistol on Ms Babbitt. A moment later a shot rings out and Ms Babbitt falls backward onto the Capitol floor.

Ms Babbitt was declared dead at a hospital a short time after the shooting.

Republican Congressman Markwayne Mullin witnessed the shooting, and said the officer “didn’t have a choice,” and claimed that the officer “saved people’s lives.”

Witness accounts from immediately before the incident report that protesters were shouting “F*** the Blue” and were rallying to push through into the Capitol’s interior.

Capitol Police officers claim that some of the protesters were carrying concealed weapons on the day of the riot, but a search of Ms Babbitt after the shooting found that she was unarmed at the time of the shooting.

Ms Babbitt, who was a believer in the QAnon conspiracy theory, tweeted the day before the riot that “the storm is here,” referencing a prophecy that Donald Trump, his allies and the military would round up his enemies and members of the “Deep State,” after which they would be tried and executed or imprisoned.

"F----the Blue" Tsk Tsk, such language in the face of those of us who believe "Blue Lives Matter."

So it appears the campaign to make Ms. Babbitt the Jean d'Arc of this thing will fail.

She's just another dead terrorist/violent trespasser......

Sounds like what Trump went through every day for four years. Not fun, no doubt.

Biden got a seven month honeymoon though.

Biden’s honeymoon might be coming to an end. Even the media recognizes he’s awful. It must be heartbreaking after all the work they have done for him.

TBH, Trump took a lot of heat regularly for playing golf on the weekends. I can see the POTUS going to Camp David once in a while, but I totally agree that Trump played way too much golf.

The issue with Biden is we have a crisis on our hands and the dude goes MIA.

I am just a casual observer of the political threads on here, because it feels like a lost cause to yell into the void....but this comment did make me chuckle. I mean come on dude, you have got to be kidding me. Trump was busy charging the american taxpayer hundreds of thousands of dollars for golf trips (usually at properties that his family company owned), while hundreds of thousands of american citizens died.

I know I am not going to change your mind about anything politically, but I couldn't help but respond to that absurd comment.
Have a nice rest of your weekend.

The point is that he didn't hide there during a crisis. The golf cliche is old. I thought it was dumb during Trump, Obama, etc. They golf. Biden's too old and fragile, but the next guy prob will too. I don't recall a moment where Americans' lives were in danger during a military crisis where Trump kept running away and dodging the media. What gives me a chuckle are the people defending the dodge the press and take scripted questions approach when he does.

Thanks for the response, I too think the golf cliche is ridiculous...but your comment was just a little absurd for me when he golfed ACTIVELY during the biggest crisis of his presidency. Whether, or not he could have done anything differently (oval office vs. golf course) to slow down the pandemic is up for debate. It is just the optics of it to me, and the failure of leadership it shows to thousands of medical professional who were/are fighting COVID-19 on the front lines across the country.

Regardless, the important thing now is that hundreds of american citizens behind enemy lines get home safe, and are government figures out how to do just that.
We shall see if they can pull that off.

Well, for true followers of Christ, what difference does it make?

Did Christ not state that brotherhood and sisterhood and family is based on faith not blood

What did Christ say about flags and nations.

"As a vocational pastor I have been digging into three questions as of late and wanted to present them to interested IE members for mutual growth. I must admit I come to this discussion with preconceived notions of the correct answers to these questions, but I do feel as though I have much more room to grow in my understanding. The questions were stirred in me as I engaged a DVD series called "True U" by Focus on the Family (a conservative evangelical para church organization). I would love to hear your ideas, feedback and dialogue about the three. Humor is welcome, but please no abusing one another through hateful, degrading or belittling speech. Thanks!"

So what indeed are you bobbyok1

A follower of Jesus, the Christ

or just another partisan political secularist

I find it charming, in a Pharasaic kind of way, that your initial post above provides you sacerdotal cover for your rather

comments in this thread.

So what are you?

Getting heated just outside the airport.

Will Joe answer the phone this time?

Gunfire broke out near one of the airport’s gates, where at least seven Afghans died a day earlier in a panicked stampede of thousands of people. The circumstances of the shooting, which occurred around dawn, remained unclear.

The German military tweeted that one member of the Afghan security forces was killed and three others were wounded by “unknown attackers.” It later clarified that it was referring to “members of the Afghan army” involved in securing the airport.

Emergency, an Italian humanitarian organization that operates hospitals in Afghanistan, said it had treated six patients with bullet wounds from the airport, none of whom were in life-threatening condition.

The U.S. military and NATO did not immediately acknowledge the shooting. There was no comment from the Taliban.

The tragic scenes around the airport have transfixed the world. Afghans poured onto the tarmac last week and some clung to a U.S. military transport plane as it took off, later plunging to their deaths. At least seven people died that day, in addition to the seven killed Sunday.

The Taliban blame the chaotic evacuation on the U.S. military and say there’s no need for any Afghans to flee. They have pledged to bring peace and security after decades of war and say they won’t seek revenge on those who worked with the U.S., NATO and the toppled Afghan government.

But their fighters have violently suppressed protests and beat people with batons as they try to control the crowds outside the airport perimeter. There have also been reports in recent days of the Taliban hunting down their former enemies. It’s unclear if Taliban leaders are saying one thing and doing another, or if fighters on the ground are taking matters into their own hands.

As the airlift continues, the U.S. government asked for 18 aircraft from U.S. commercial carriers to assist in transporting Afghan refugees to their final destinations after their initial evacuation. The request fell under the Civil Reserve Air Fleet program, which was born in the wake of the Berlin airlift and can add to the military’s capabilities during crises.

Early Monday, a Delta Air Lines flight landed in Dubai and later took off for Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, where evacuees are crowded into hangars. A steady stream of military transport planes continue to fly people out of Kabul to airfields across the Mideast.

Since Aug. 14, the U.S. has evacuated or facilitated the evacuation of more than 30,000 people on military and coalition flights. Tens of thousands of people — Americans, other foreigners and Afghans who assisted in the war effort — are still waiting to join the airlift, which has been slowed by security issues and U.S. bureaucracy hurdles.

U.S. President Joe Biden said Sunday he would not rule out extending the evacuation beyond Aug. 31, the date he had set for completing the withdrawal of U.S. forces. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson plans to press Biden for an extension.

But Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen, in an interview with Sky News, said Aug. 31 is a “red line” and that extending the American presence would “provoke a reaction.”

Joe has no idea what's going on. He's an absolute disaster. Even looking at the article you mentioned, the Taliban is dictating everything. Blinken's answer is telling.

This has to be pure arrogance. He keeps denying and deflecting rather than answer questions and be honest.

President Joe Biden said Sunday that the U.S. was considering extending evacuation efforts beyond his Aug. 31 deadline.
Joe you told us previously there was no way you would do this.

Biden pointed to new numbers of evacuees as a contrast to the chaotic scenes at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul,

But as his handling of the withdrawal has come under criticism from foreign allies and officials in both parties, Biden claimed that there was no way it could have gone any more smoothly.

There is no way to evacuate this many people without pain and loss and heartbreaking images you see on television. It's just a fact.

President Joe Biden said Sunday that the U.S. was considering extending evacuation efforts beyond his Aug. 31 deadline to leave Afghanistan as he defended the administration's handling of the war's final days.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Biden said there were discussions "among us and the military about extending."

"Our hope is that we will not have to extend," he said.

Biden pointed to new numbers of evacuees as a contrast to the chaotic scenes at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, where thousands of people remain to be airlifted out of the country after the Taliban seized control of vast parts of territory this month.

Biden said the U.S. evacuated about 11,000 people in 30 hours over the weekend. He said about 28,000 U.S. citizens, allies and Afghans have been secured since the Taliban's takeover of Kabul on Aug. 15, adding that 33,000 people have been transported since July.

"We see no reason why this tempo will not be kept up," he said, referring to the pace of evacuations over the weekend.

But as his handling of the withdrawal has come under criticism from foreign allies and officials in both parties, Biden claimed that there was no way it could have gone any more smoothly.

"Let me be clear: The evacuation of thousands of people from Kabul is going to be hard and painful no matter when it started or when we began," he said. "Would've been true if we started a month ago or a month from now. There is no way to evacuate this many people without pain and loss and heartbreaking images you see on television. It's just a fact. My heart aches for those people you see. We are proving, though, that we can move thousands of people per day out of Kabul."

Many of Biden's critics have questioned why evacuations, particularly for Afghan helpers, were not stepped up sooner.

The administration announced earlier Sunday that the U.S. will use commercial aircraft to transport people once they have been evacuated from Afghanistan to speed the process. In addition, Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken pointed to new agreements with about two dozen countries to assist in transporting evacuees.

Earlier Sunday, a State Department diplomatic cable obtained by NBC News detailed the "brutal experience" local staff members at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul faced when they headed to the airport. The cable, which was sent Saturday, said staffers reported being jostled, hit, spat on and cursed at by Taliban fighters at checkpoints near the airport, adding that criminals were taking advantage of the chaos while the U.S. military tried to maintain order "in an extremely physical situation."

An NBC News poll released Sunday found that just 25 percent of Americans approve of Biden's handling of Afghanistan. The same poll showed that 61 percent of Americans believe the 20-year war was not worth it. In addition, a CBS News poll released Sunday found that 47 percent of Americans approve of Biden's handling of the final days of the war an that 63 percent approve of removing U.S. troops from the country.

In response to question about the CBS News survey results, Biden said the choice was to either stay, sending more Americans into battle, or end the 20-year conflict.

"And I decided to end the war," he said.

"When this is over, the American people will have a clear understanding of what I did, why we did it, but look, that's the job," he said. "My job is to make judgments no one else can or will make. I made them. I'm convinced I'm absolutely correct in not deciding to send more young men and women to war for a war that is in fact no longer warranted."

Biden suggested that U.S. adversaries are sad to see the U.S. leave.

"You're sitting in Beijing or you're sitting in Moscow. Are you happy we left?" Biden said, chuckling. "They'd love nothing better than for us to continue to be bogged down there, totally occupied with what's going on. So the idea, I think, that history is going to record [is] this was the logical, rational and right decision to make."

IMO, far too much blame on Biden, giving every other democrat behind the scenes pushing him a pass, most notably the VP. We all know he's the leader of the democratic party more-so than America, he's just easy to sacrifice if the people stop supporting him.

He's carrying out the democratic roadmap and making democratic decisions (Kubal).

He deserves all of the blame IMO. He keeps telling everyone he’s making the decisions and the buck stops with him. Add the fact that he tells us nothing could be done and this was to be expected?

I agree with getting out, but there’s too long a list of problems that have been documented and could have been avoided if he wasn’t bent on meeting a self imposed deadline that has no significant meaning.
