Anyone else think the US women's beach volleyball team of Sponcil-Claes got railroaded during the challenge review?
Have to think that penalty was bullshit. Seen it all kinds of ways and cant wrap my head around how it was a penalty. They shouldnt have been in that position anyway against Canada. Been towing a tight line all tourney.

Loved seeing men and women win gold in basketball. As it should be. USA Men's Basketball needs to make some changes, however, if they are going to win again in Paris.
Disappointed about baseball, but kind of expected Japan to win gold. Good effort nevertheless. Still fond memories of 2000 Sydney team winning Gold with Lasorda.
Was happy to have won the most medals in light of everything going on in the world and the circumstances of the logistics. Onto Paris 2024.
Shocking win watching Italy men win the Gold in the 4x100
Baseball is being taken out of the Paris olympics and they are adding breakdancing... yes breakdancing

found this thread of videos of gymnasts with the twisties. Scary shit. All the people giving Biles a hard time should reconsider.
It's a balance. I originally thought that she "quit" on her team when it happened day of. Given what I subsequently learned about the twisties, I think that take is a bit unfair. That said, the OpEds on the other end of the spectrum labeling her a hero for dropping out are equally absurd.
Ultimately, she dropped out because she wasn't ready to compete. It is what it is. I'm more in the camp that she kind of choked given the stage and timing of all this; but whatever, she's still the GOAT.
Also, side note, I think her communication of it all was handled poorly from a PR perspective. She should have been more descriptive about what was going on rather than just saying "mental health issues."
