Hmmm...Per Brian Kelly mentioned that Osita has moved to Vyper DE. Where is my dollar Lucky? And this is why they call me the prophet.

Ok, ok. I remember the discussion but I have a hard time taking an L as he's just taking 3rd/4th string Vyper reps at the present. They tried him out at SDE last year. I'll admit that I was wrong on him being a really good LB prospect. Huge bust in that respect. But I think the jury is out on whether he's actually playing Vyper in games and terrorizing QB's. Bring this back up as Fall Camp comes to a close and we'll keep an eye on this for the season.

apparently has an Achilles injury that might sideline him for fall camp

Bump, bump, bump...

Another Vyper bites the dust.

And another one's gone and another one's gone.

Another Vyper bites the dust.

Thanks for bringing it. I was planning on posting this last night when I read it and forgot. Huge bummer. If Botelho were to miss any time, Osita would probably be the biggest beneficiary of those reps.

II podcast theorized that Justin A would move over to Vyper on some downs or maybe even have Marist blitz off the edge a few snaps a game

Yea, I think the most logical option would be for Justin to cross train. But, I don't know if I'd even call it that. I think you'll just see him on the field more with Myron. It might look like that for a few practices so they can rep it and see what it looks like but I don't see it looking like that on Saturdays.

Yeah. I don't like DE's falling off the active list but I'm also not as worried as most. A lot of experience at LB in all shapes and sizes and Freeman's used to building D's with a lot less talent than he's got here. Maybe we don't have a 240 roadrunner at Vyper like J Okwara. That's ok, we didn't get exposed when 260lb Daelin Hayes played the position. And you won't see any feather merchants like Okwara on Freeman's Cincy lines. Half of his LB's are bigger than Okwara was.

Watching our LBs suck wind and wondering whatever happened to him. He was pretty heralded out of HS.

How many is that so far? Four or five right?

I think it's going to wind up being a dozen guys with eligibility left who are not graduating or going to the NFL that will transfer. 10-15 total maybe.

The NCAA really made a mess of this. It’s the Wild West.

I have to believe Bama will lose a bunch, but get as many back.

Eh. A guy like Ekwuno transferring is not the problem. He has had some injuries, been passed by younger/better players on the depth chart, earned his degree, and now is off to take one more shot somewhere else. Godspeed. I hope he's a game-wrecker for NC State next year or something. (Not if we play them tho.)

But there are lots of Ekwunos out there transferring today who weren't four-star recruits and didn't spend three seasons at Notre Dame and don't have their degrees and I wonder where they land in all this. The portal empowers players, yes, but it also makes it so so easy for schools to process guys out without looking like the asshole.

Wasn’t Osita tabbed as a potential transfer last offseason? This isn’t a surprise to me.

These are the ones that I think the portal actually helps. Guys that got hurt and just passed over because healthy players passed them and you just never look back. He could go back closer to home and play at some decent schools.

Physically he pops. But just couldn't seem to pick up the position skills or find a spot for him on a field.
