FWIW, Shane Walton is a 247 subscriber, from La Jolla, and is now back coaching Buchner. He absolutely gushes about the kid both athletically and personally. His camp thinks if healthy he's going to have a monster year. At this point the staff loves Buchner and where they stand with him. Only time will tell if that is the right strategy.

That's weird. I thought it was usually that the Kearney follow means they are communicating and the Peloquin follow means they are visiting.

Shane Walton the soccer player turned All-American safety? Is his coach? That has to help our chances of actually landing this kid.

Yes, that Shane Walton. He is on the coaching staff, but he is not the head coach. He is also the assistant athletic director.

Loy CB'd him to Northwestern yesterday after he visited Evanston.

NW's not on ND's schedule from 2021-2025 but there are plenty of open spots left to add them.

According to Naz, OSU was the other dream school and they've offered. They've also offered 4 other QB's, none of which who 247 calls warm.

He's visiting PSU today, OSU next weekend, Wiscy on the 30th followed by a Apr 6th visit to Ann Arbor

Is the info about him not being a take at OSU credible? I've read the rumors in various comment sections but I've not seen anyone's name attached to the statement.

The bolded is the part that was most bothersome. People always get their feeling hurt in recruiting and people alway think they "deserved" more/better but I just can't see the above.

Julian Love has always been a professional and deserves all the support. I'm sure the staff really wanted him back, hopefully the two sides made up (if Naz's big dump of a post was true).

Calling it now, Buchner and McCarthy are the starting QB's for the ND/OSU match-ups in '22 (maybe) & '23 (for sure). The What If's will be answered on the field.

While ND isn't recruiting McCarthy any longer, he and Buchner are tied at the hip from now until the end of their college careers. They'll be weighed, judged & compared from this day forward by a lot of people. The fact that they could face off on the field in the future makes it that much more interesting. Who will get the better end of the deal? Will it be a wash? Time will tell.

But don't think for a second that the Buchner vs McCarthy topic is gonna go away. It's gonna come up repeatedly through the coming years, especially if he picks a school on ND's schedule.
