Are you guys gonna be able to reload next year? Losing a lot with Love, Evans, Blakely, Baker, etc... ?
At what level do you think Diamond Evans could play? I think he has P5 film and he was a monster during 7v7 lst summer.
What's the story with the younger Keeler? Is he a potential P5 DE prospect?
How did Tyler Morris finish up?
Hoping JJ has plenty of weapons to play with next season.
Oh man it’s gonna be tough. JJ will only get better so that helps. We lose such a great senior class. We’ll be different but we’ll be very young at some key positions.
We actually did all this despite losing Blakley (the best of the bunch) the week of the first game and Oglesby (3 year two way starter week 1). Love was Superman, Evans was Batman and JJ exceeded everyone’s expectations in 18.
I couldn’t be more disappointed in how the recruiting process has gone with Love and Evans for different reasons. Schools are really missing the mark on those two. I will never understand how Illinois is not recruiting either. Both are power 5 kids albeit maybe not at top 25 programs. ND should have offered Michael but I also get why they didn’t. Illinois has no excuse.
Here’s the thing with Evans. He’s from the west side and doesn’t really have the family structure and guidance of other kids at Naz. I’ve tried to help him as has man you other coaches but he’s a proud kid. All our guys tried taking him on visits and to camps but he doesn’t want to be a burden. They can’t afford those trips and so Diamond didn’t go anywhere. He will KILL IT at S Dakota St if he adjusts to life out there. They were his only visit, so many schools recruited him and he wasn’t actively responding. I found this out and we got out of ahead of it but it was too late and he took one visit and immediately committed. The kid is a 4.6 student and had the entire Ivy League! He didn’t get it tho and was concerned about proximity and fitting in etc. I don’t want to blow SDSU’s recruiting because they worked hard for Diamond, even when he didn’t respond they kept at it and they hit all the right cords with him but he doesn’t belong there.
Next year you’ll see Ryan Keeler blossom. The kid has a ton of potential. The senior class was so good and had so many kids that were on varsity for 3 years that it was intimidating for our younger guys. Keeler works very hard but wasn’t as assertive as he needed to be, he didn’t go out and take playing time, he was happy to be up most days. Next year he’ll be the man. Two way starter and future d1 DE. I am not sure about power 5 just yet, but the potential is there. He’ll be biggest breakout performer next year.
Ty Morris has the potential to be even better than Julian. Lofty expectations but he’s special as a person and player. He should have multiple power 5’s by this time next year. Ty had about 500 yards and 6-7 TD’s this year. Probably would have been more but soph QB defaulted to Mike and Diamond too often sometimes. Ty will go for 1500 yards offensively next year with 15+ TD’s.
There are questions where the rest of the offensive production will come from. Some kids will need to step up, maybe a transfer or two comes in but who knows. There are 2 freshman that if it works out academically and financially will be in rotation from day 1!
