Crazy how fast things change lol. We just talked yesterday, he was planning to visit another school. ND called and said they really wanted him on campus. Hopefully this is it! If offered I’ll be in his ear everyday until he commits lol.

I’m wondering if pOSU and PSU pulled the trigger in response to JJ coming back to ND for another visit and an assumed offer.

Stanford was in today. I hope this weekend it goes down because I’m starting to get nervous about how I’ll spin things lol.

No it was the opposite.

Penn State and Ohio St.'s offers came after you said that he was headed to ND this weekend. Or at least JJ tweeted about getting the offers after your post.

Edit:

I guess Ohio St. may have offered before, Penn St. after.

OSU got ND to panic and tell JJ he had to be at Junior day. That’s really the threat here. OSU, Harbaugh and Stanford. Not PSU. You’re right PSU timing was later.

Are you guys gonna be able to reload next year? Losing a lot with Love, Evans, Blakely, Baker, etc... ?

At what level do you think Diamond Evans could play? I think he has P5 film and he was a monster during 7v7 lst summer.

What's the story with the younger Keeler? Is he a potential P5 DE prospect?

How did Tyler Morris finish up?

Hoping JJ has plenty of weapons to play with next season.

Oh man it’s gonna be tough. JJ will only get better so that helps. We lose such a great senior class. We’ll be different but we’ll be very young at some key positions.

We actually did all this despite losing Blakley (the best of the bunch) the week of the first game and Oglesby (3 year two way starter week 1). Love was Superman, Evans was Batman and JJ exceeded everyone’s expectations in 18.

I couldn’t be more disappointed in how the recruiting process has gone with Love and Evans for different reasons. Schools are really missing the mark on those two. I will never understand how Illinois is not recruiting either. Both are power 5 kids albeit maybe not at top 25 programs. ND should have offered Michael but I also get why they didn’t. Illinois has no excuse.

Here’s the thing with Evans. He’s from the west side and doesn’t really have the family structure and guidance of other kids at Naz. I’ve tried to help him as has man you other coaches but he’s a proud kid. All our guys tried taking him on visits and to camps but he doesn’t want to be a burden. They can’t afford those trips and so Diamond didn’t go anywhere. He will KILL IT at S Dakota St if he adjusts to life out there. They were his only visit, so many schools recruited him and he wasn’t actively responding. I found this out and we got out of ahead of it but it was too late and he took one visit and immediately committed. The kid is a 4.6 student and had the entire Ivy League! He didn’t get it tho and was concerned about proximity and fitting in etc. I don’t want to blow SDSU’s recruiting because they worked hard for Diamond, even when he didn’t respond they kept at it and they hit all the right cords with him but he doesn’t belong there.

Next year you’ll see Ryan Keeler blossom. The kid has a ton of potential. The senior class was so good and had so many kids that were on varsity for 3 years that it was intimidating for our younger guys. Keeler works very hard but wasn’t as assertive as he needed to be, he didn’t go out and take playing time, he was happy to be up most days. Next year he’ll be the man. Two way starter and future d1 DE. I am not sure about power 5 just yet, but the potential is there. He’ll be biggest breakout performer next year.

Ty Morris has the potential to be even better than Julian. Lofty expectations but he’s special as a person and player. He should have multiple power 5’s by this time next year. Ty had about 500 yards and 6-7 TD’s this year. Probably would have been more but soph QB defaulted to Mike and Diamond too often sometimes. Ty will go for 1500 yards offensively next year with 15+ TD’s.

There are questions where the rest of the offensive production will come from. Some kids will need to step up, maybe a transfer or two comes in but who knows. There are 2 freshman that if it works out academically and financially will be in rotation from day 1!

Thanks for the write up. I've followed you guys going back to the Sean Pearson days because I lived in Hinsdale with my ex who was a Naz grad after college. Best of luck filling the roster next year. We'll all be here everyday for the next 2 years until JJ enrolls!

BTW... I saw one of your former players out at the Brook committed to SEMO today and was kind enough to throw a lil shade your guys way. Good for him.

Hah I saw that. He tried to transfer back each of the last 3 years lol. I guess Naz wasn’t so bad. At the end of the day Naz isn’t for everyone, especially those that don’t do their homework. I love AJ but his desire to blame others just shows he didn’t learn. Oh well, we can be the bad guy if that’s what he needs.

I have wondered for awhile how you knew so much, props either way. We need Pearson to get that b-b-ball program going now!

Jim McElwain with the offer for JJ. It just got real real.

In other news, he's on the official Offer Countdown with Baker & Gentry.

No offer. {sigh}

I should also note he had a great visit. He loved it, ND actually improved their chances today. I worry about lack of offer because Harvaugh and Day are coming hard, but after today JJ is comfortable with what he heard in terms of an offer from ND. He willing to wait, ND definitely in top 4.

Thanks for the update. Too bad about the non-offer. Did you (or he) get an impression that an offer is forthcoming?

FWIW, Freeman at ISD posted that the plan has been to offer the 2021 QB/s after bowl season. Why? Not sure, didn’t say, but that might be what’s going on here.

He was led to believe, in his mind at least, that he would be getting an offer in January. I don’t see the point of waiting if they deemed him next offer. Makes me think they haven’t decided which of the 3 QB’s they’re offering. It also leads me to think they’re waiting on Stone/Buchner and buying them time. Stone isn’t happening, Buchner could but would it be soon? I have no idea.

I wasn’t there and can only go off JJ’s word. He’s happy and willing to wait right now so that’s all that matters

Maybe they are waiting so that the new OC gets to have input after Chip takes the Tennessee OC job.

Btw JJ and Lorenzo hit it off. JJ really does believe ND has a chance. I’m not saying we get an OSU legacy but it’s nice to know the interest is very genuine.

Spinzone: Lorenzo will be helpful for OSU recruiting JJ to OSU

Hah that’s a definite possible path. JJ grew up an OSU fan, he LOVES Day. OSU is securely in his top 4. All that being said I’d be surprised if he ended up there. Growing up as a kid and liking a successful localish team and being a fit for a program are two very different things. I’m pretty sure he understands that, I know his family does.

A recruit watching a team practice is one thing. A recruit watching a team practice for a playoff game is on another level. It has to leave a positive mark.

I'll say he's OSU's to lose....based off of nothing.

You’re not crazy he grew up loving OSU. They’ve offered and we haven’t and we have the lead. Now if we wait a long time to offer that could alter things. For now I feel good. Michigan and OSU are there and Stanford is a threat, as of now that’s how I see it.

Now this is old school ND recruiting that I grew up on. Passing on the local kid for the 5* from California. Ultimately missing on both!

Just kidding.
