As in we vote for how many we all keep or that you keep at least 1, but up to 3 and lose draft pics ?

I felt that pain in my high-dollar league. Killed me down the stretch, after putting a nice team around him and finding some nice waiver-wire saviors.

I do think 1 keeper is very soft in a keeper league. I think 1 should be the minimum with a max of 2 or 3 personally. What does everyone think?

I am fine with 2 keepers. I don't think a minimum is necessary. If you don't want to keep you shouldn't have to. I don't want 3.

I've only played in 1 keeper league. We kept 1 guy in that league and it was mandatory for every team. I'm fine with 2 keepers max, but if you chose 1 or 0 do you just get to extra picks? 1st rounds or?

If you keep a 5th rounder from the previous year he is automatically your 4th round pick this year. If you choose to keep no one you pick normally.

Gotcha. And the computer manages this all for us?

I have been a commish in other leagues and you are generally able to input the player into the appropriate spot. Not sure if Gattaca is capable of doing that but he should be.

Another general question:

What's the argument against using first/second round keepers in a snake draft? I'm in another keeper league, and first AND second round guys are off-limits to keep.

I understand not keeping guys with first-round grades, as there is no penalty for their value, but why prohibit keeping guys from the second round, as well?

I understand the need for a snake draft when doing it online, but I hate it. The one thing I liked in the league I hated was we would have re-seeding every 2 rounds.

Theoretically the top guys are being drafted in the first two rounds so not allowing you to keep them keeps a large portion of the top guys in play for the entire league.

Most leagues assess a round penalty for keeping a player. If I keep last year's fifth round pick he becomes my 3rd or 4th round pick this year. You aren't capable of assessing that penalty on a first round pick. And keeping a first round pick effectively renders draft position irrelevant in the round when it is most relevant. Similar logic applying to the second round.

Oh forgot I was the commish. Yeah shouldn't be a problem.

If you allow 2nd rounders to be kept, whoever picked last in the first round has a huge advantage.

Obviously you run into the same problem in the 3rd round and beyond (as someone always will have the advantage) however the impact is not as severe as it would be if you are keeping the #13 overall pick.

My vote would be two keepers. Can keep any round but they subtract a round each year they are kept. If you want to keep two players that have the same round attached to them you have to take the lower (i.e. if you have two players you want to keep and they are both 4th round keepers, you have to forfeit a 3rd and a 4th rounder).

Should I set up a quick poll in the league page on yahoo or is it easier to do it here? I feel like it will be easier to track and quicker to vote if we do it on yahoo.

What are the main issues? Number of keepers and keeper costs?

Gattaca, can you renew the league before we vote? I want to check out my roster before voting.

Can you only keep a player you drafted? What if you picked someone up in the middle of the season via waivers or trade? What would the round penalty be?
