What about....

Echols & Calvin or Young and the perceived lead w/ Paschal?

Perceived lead with Paschal?? I did not know this. Nice. VERY nice. I've stated it before. I do not know how this kid isn't a five star. There's also talk of him not being offered by several power five programs leading to some recruit-junkie head scratching. If our DL class ended up Hinish, Ewell, Echols, Paschal..... I'd go freaking BANANAS! Those boys lined up with the likes of Daelin Hayes, Tillery, Tevon Coney, Nyles Morgan......CHAMIONSHIP defense. Let's go Irish staff. Get these boys locked up. Buy their dad's cars. Pay their Mom's rent! Haha. Joking. ND would NEVER roll that way.

Hmmm. What do you guys think...I bet he's worried about losing his spot at ND if he waits too long and has seen enough to know ND is for him. Either that or Oregon has him thinking Ducks. I understand that Oregon would be a cool school to go to for any offensive back. I've been there and it's a beautiful place to live as well. Great people and good weather. With that said Oregon can't hold a candle to ND. I would bet the cash in my wallet he ends up ND. His rankings don't mean $h!t. He's a great WR with outstanding blocking skills and superior intangibles.
Go Irish

I would be surprised if Michael Young was worried about losing his spot at Notre Dame considering Notre Dame doesn't have depth at slot, but he is a guy that can also play on the outside. Notre Dame needs speed and Young has lots.

Love Young but if we can get Calvin with Echols give me dat

If it was an either or...... A D what you said.

Why? Young is head and shoulders above Calvin at this stage.

No he's not. You couldn't have any different style of players at the slot. Young's a pitbull, Calvin's a whippet. Oddly enough, even though they go about their jobs in different ways, they both had nearly identical Sparq performances in all 4 tests.

Young ..... 40=4.67 ..... Shut=4.01 ..... PB=37 ..... Vert=39.1 ..... Sparq=115.86
Calvin ..... 40=4.66 ..... Shut=3.98 ..... PB=36 ..... Vert=37.8 ..... Sparq=105.78

I agree with this. I'd like to have both. Missing on Alloway last year puts CJ-S as the #1 slot and return man with no real back-up. Calvin's a beast in the return game... if he doesn't get broken in half. Yes he is slight. Doesn't appear too many college staffs are worried about it though, 20+ P5 offers with every conference represented.

I understand that testing numbers are an indication of athleticism, but you almost base an athletes talent off testing numbers.

If you watch the highlight tapes or film if you have access to that, I am judging them off being football players. There are a lot of guys that can go out and run around in shorts and put up impressive numbers.

Calvin is definitely the better return man, but Young is an extremely advanced WR compared to Calvin. Calvin is similar to Alloway, where they have quicks and speed, but not elite top end speed. Calvin knows how to use that to his advantage now, but there is very little he does to get open other than use speed.

Young uses leverage and footwork to get open. That's big bc the school he chooses won't have to teach him that stuff, but rather help him advance once he gets to campus. Calvin is going to need a year to simply learn how to run routes and sight adjustments, similar to CJ Sanders.

I agree with all of this except that I've judged these two off of a Sparq score. A quick look back through this profile will show that I'm a huge fan of Young and that I believe he is just as you stated, advanced. The kid's a beast. And like everyone has noted, you aren't going to find a better blocking film from a WR of this kids level.

Pitbull vs Whippet. I want them both, don't know if that's possible though.

Well......I guess we shall see on Wednesday!!! Like Ewell, I'm really excited about this kid. He's from Louisiana, looks fierce in the slot, AND, appears to have had ND out in front for a while.........but, until he commits, I'll table my excitement for the most part.

I love Young's tape so I'd be ecstatic to have the majority of the WR recruiting class completed. Add one or two others at the end of the cycle if necessary but Young is our next "slot of the future". CJ Sanders should be really good in that role this fall but if Young is capable of learning the playbook quickly, he'll push for minutes early.

And I really like CJ Sanders, and I haven't forgotten how he juked Nyles out of his shorts. I think both players will provide healthy competition for the next few years.

Add Young and OSB and this class at WR is pretty stacked. I'm pretty up in the air about Pouncey and even Tarik Black at this point. I just don't see what others see withr those guys.

When I watched Will Fuller's HS tape, I didn't see a 4.32 speed type guy. Our coaching staff not only saw that potential in Will, they were able to unlock it to devastating effect. My hope is that they either see that same potential in Pouncey, or they're going to give him a shot at WR then move him to D. Otherwise, I agree with you in that I don't see why Pouncey garnered so much interest from the likes of Bama and Florida given what he's shown on film.

You need to look at Jordan Pouncey's film. You guys are obviously looking at some other Pouncey's Hudl account.
