I don't think a high-end guide for competitive PC players is particularly useful for casual console gamers. There's a legitimate role for every single hero in casual console play so I think it's much more important to find a handful of heroes that work with your particular play style than to worry about who's most viable in the meta.

Regardless of what you think of the ranking, the only tank I left off was D.Va. I don't think it's very controversial to suggest that a brand new Tank-oriented player probably shouldn't pick up D.Va or Zarya--at least to begin with--and that Roadhog might be a struggle unless he's able to land hooks reliably.

But Overwatch is 6 v 6, meaning every player matters and so does strategy. You're not just running around like an idiot, you're thinking and acting strategically as a team.

That's hard to wrap my mind around (I believe you, just sayin) the videos I've seen look like a cartoon version of Unreal Tourney.

It's all good though, I'm good playing fifa or playing my bots on older CoDs...

Thinking about buying a PS4. Mainly want it for The Show, I'd still be playing all the cross console games on my One as that's where all my friends play. Is it worth it in the long run? I generally only play sports titles and occasionally games like BF and Division

The Show is amazing, but it's true sim... If you want to play real baseball on a console, it's close... If you want home run derby on a console,.. Save your money.

The Show is stupid good... But it's not an arcade game, most I see who critique it bitch about lack of scoring or 'I can't hit, fvk this game!'

IMO, it's worth the price of the entire system, but it does take time.

Me in a nutshell. Physically cannot hit the ball in that game. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I spent forever practicing and could not get a freaking hit.

Shoutout to Greyhammer for inviting me to a game as soon as Overwatch got done updating. Didn't even let me finish a training run as Soldier 76 before he forced me into baptism by fire haha.

I didn't know what in the hell I was doing for the first 5 or 6 matches. I kind of figured out what my niche is going to be there at the end, though. I'm going to park my ass against a wall as Bastion and lay down cover fire for everyone else, since my teammates will all be better than me haha.

Pick your pitch, wait for it... Best advice ever given to me with that game.

I had some majorly BS Overwatch competitive matches last night. Two games where a guy on my team quit so we played the whole match 6 v 5, then another game where Battlenet booted me but I rejoined and we won, yet I still lost a rank due to a leaver penalty.

What can I say? It was high noon. It takes a little bit to get used to your abilities because they make the game play so different from your average FPS. You definitely had caught on to Bastion by the end of it.

Junkrat can go suck a giant D. I found my mortal enemy within the game.

Gonna use Whiskey's links to the hero tiers to figure out how to counter him haha. Every time, I was getting pwnd by the Tire of Death or taking massive splash damage from his Junk Cannon.

This is good advice, but still extremely difficult to follow. I usually try to guess for a first-pitch fastball. If I get it, and it looks like it's a strike, I'm swinging for power to try and jump on it.

After that, if I don't hit it, everything goes to hell.

In terms of Power/Contact/Average swing, how do you balance that in your decision making at the plate, and do they truly play to their uses? Like, if I'm sitting on a first-pitch fastball, get it, and put a good swing on the ball with a Contact Swing, what's gonna happen?

Do you have surround sound and/or a decent headset? If so, you should be able to hear where his tire is coming from and kill it with Bastion.

I only caught on to Bastion for the last two matches of the night, but I did take care of his tire a few times in those matches when I heard it coming via Sentry mode.

I just need to figure out what my niche will be for offensive game modes. I liked playing as McCree, but I need a lot of work on using his Fan the Hammer for close-quarters combat, and I need to stay at mid-range to keep safe, but I'm not practiced enough with his regular shot to be truly effective yet.

I am still totally clueless at trying to play a support role effectively. I can only imagine that Greyhammer was shaking his head in disgust the one time I tried to play as Mercy haha. And I tried to play a tank role early on with Reinhardt like Whiskey suggested, but I don't think our team was organized enough to use my shield effectively.

I'll play some Reinhardt when I get back online with you. Reinhardt shield + Bastion turret mode in the corner of a defensive map is a cheese combo.

Can friendlies lay down fire that will pass through a friendly shield? Or is it pick-and-choose in terms of popping your head out to hit the enemy?

You can shoot through the shield. Like I said, it's cheese if the other team doesn't change characters to combat it.

^ Shit n00bs say.

Yeah, you can shoot from behind a friendly Reinhardt's shield. Also, DON'T shoot Zarya when her shield is up. It charges her weapon. Also, Reaper heals when he walks over a dead enemy, but don't do it with Junkrat because Junkrat drops bombs.

I never power swing unless it's like 3-0 count with the bases loaded and I got my star up... basically, I never power swing... I hit HRs with reg and contact swing. I reg swing at everything except 2 strike counts, then I just try to make contact...

I basically do that, and sit high fast ball 75 % of the time... and l'm super selective with less than two strikes.

that base strategy got me from struggling to hit on rookie settings, never walking, and striking out a ton... to hitting consistently on Hall of Fame difficulty, getting decent walks and rarely striking out...

To answer your last question, if you look high FB, get it and contact swing it perfectly... it's most likely gone... even on HoF or Legend difficulty.

I don't know how you guys can enjoy shooters on console, especially a hectic game like overwatch. PC Master Race

Anyone here play OOTP Baseball on the PC? Been playing in an online league with some buddies and it's an absolute blast.

You're playing against opponents who are also on console, so there's no disadvantage. It's just less chaotic overall.

Your question is like asking how anyone could watch college football when the NFL exists.

My statement refers to individually enjoying playing shooters with a controller. I guess I could have spelled it out.

I enjoy it because I'm accustomed to the controls, and it's more of a challenge than "point and click" shooting with a mouse.

A trigger and joystick feel far more natural for shooting (trigger... shooting... get it) than a mouse and keyboard. Yes, a mouse and keyboard are higher-performing, but that doesn't mean they feel better.

I freakin hated playing War Thunder against PC peps... their ability to just move the mouse and aim perfectly vs. the more real world struggle that came with the console controllers pretty much broke the game for me.
