'17 NJ DT Dalyn Wade-Perry (Offer)

His offer list is crazy good:

Alabama
Ohio State
Notre Dame
Stanford
Ped State
Florida State
Florida
Michigan
Michigan State
Miami
Nebraska
Ole Miss
UCLA
etc....

but he's only the composite #357 player. Weird. Would be an awesome pickup regardless.

I agree with the ranking issue. I know there's tons of recruits and all, but similar to Drew White, our current LB commit with a crazy good offer list, how is this guy a three star with THAT kind of offer list?? He has an offer list comparable to some high four star recruits...maybe even five star?? Bama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Stanford, Michigan, Florida State etc etc etc....Doesn't get much better than that!! I know stars don't really matter much, but still...seems very odd.

Happens every year. Plus there are plenty of kids who never report certain offers, or they are never offered based on things not related to their on field ability...not to mention, with the way the ratings systems work, not every kid can be a four star and there can be TREMENDOUS differences in talent level between one three star and another.

stanford
"He basically told me they are recruiting me hard and they want to make sure I get through admissions," Wade-Perry said. "They like me as 3-technique (defensive tackle). He told me to keep working on my speed and mentality. I just liked it overall there. It was great. Those guys know how to get after it. It's just like Florida without the humidity."

Notre Dame
"I just like how they run their program," Wade-Perry said. "They do it by the books. It's classic and traditional. They prepare you for life after football."

OSU running #3

admitted that getting into stanford could be the difference

Scout: No. 29 DT Dalyn Wade-Perry has Pac-12, Big Ten, SEC, Notre Dame in top eight

Dalyn Wade-Perry, the No. 29 defensive tackle in the nation, breaks down his top eight schools, giving his thoughts on each one.

Dalyn Wade-Perry has three schools he plans to officially visit, and the nation's No. 29 defensive tackle also has a top eight covering the country.

The Sparta (N.J.) Pope John XXIII standout has Stanford, UCLA, Notre Dame, Penn State, Florida, Rutgers, Michigan State and Ohio State on his list. He said he plans to make a decision after his senior season, but there are three official visits he plans to make.

"I think I will do official visits," Wade-Perry said. "As of right now, Stanford, Notre Dame and Ohio State (are schools Wade-Perry will officially visit) and the other two, we will see."

In trimming his list, Wade-Perry said it was built around a number of factors. He made spring visits to Ohio State, Stanford and Rutgers, and he will be at Notre Dame on June 23.

He said his top eight are in no order (listed alphabetically below) and he broke down each of the schools with Scout:

Florida: "Florida, as you can tell by some of my tweet when I got the offer, a school that I dreamed about going to when I was a child. I feel like it would be cool to continue the recruiting process and maybe go down there."

Michigan State: "When they first came to my school, they sent their defensive coordinator (Mike Tressel), and we spoke on the phone, and they told me about the program they were building. Like with Florida and UCLA, I want to get on campus and see what they are all about. I talked to their defensive line coach (Ron Burton)."

Notre Dame: "I love the tradition they have going on with football and academics. Their coaching staff is great and I feel like that is a special place and they can help me get to the next level."

Ohio State: "When I went to (the spring game), I really liked it. ...They have a loyal fan base and it was a cool atmosphere to be in for a spring game."

Penn State: "I appreciate how close it is, the coaches are great guys and every time I go down there I enjoy myself. I always see something new. I feel like it is Happy Valley for a reason."

Rutgers: "Rutgers is on me very hard. I've been building a relationship with the coaches since they've been there. I think they're doing a good job with their program with (strength) coach (Kenny) Parker and coach (Chris) Ash is bringing structure to the team, and I feel like in a year or two they will be a big deal."
Stanford: "It's a different atmosphere. It's beautiful. The campus is really nice. It just has a different feel."

UCLA: "Nothing beat that Cali weather, and they gave me a great academic presentation when they talked to me on the phone. Defensive coordinator (Tom Bradley) came by the school. We don't really talk much about the football. They see me as a 3-tech and they talked to me about a lot of things (defensive line) coach Angus (McClure) does with his defensive linemen. They want to get me on campus so they can see me first hand."

This kid is my cauliflower recruit.

It doesn't look very good to me, I generally don't care for it nor want it but... I know it's probably good for me.

I am going to try and like him more. He's an RKG afterall.

My favorite DT we have a shot with.

No, PJ Mustipher is the answer to that statement. ;-)

When the '17 qualifier is added, you may have that opinion. I'd still take Ewell or Cage first, take a hard look at Elliss' film vs Perry's and watch for the OSU DT fallout. If Ewell goes there along with Tufele and Cage doesn't budge... maybe Garrett has a change of heart? OSU's over recruiting of the position, which includes the Top 2 DT's in '18 is bound to change the landscape as it currently appears. BUT the bottom line is, you take whoever commits first of those players.

With DWP, who's a supposed Stanford lean you have to be ready for an unexpected commit to ND. When dealing with Stanford, the end of the recruitment can come quickly. One day you're a Stanford lock, the next day their Admissions office informs you it ain't happening. I would not be surprised if Adebo got that treatment wrapped in a "No more DB's" package because they are talking Holmes if they get a chance. The odds are against getting Holmes, same as Elijah Molden so wouldn't you keep an uber athlete like Adebo on the string if he's openly interested in you? I would too.

We'll see.

You know I meant '17 cycle. And yes I would take the OSU fallouts, but they a verbally committed so I did not count them.

Scout: visit was "great". ND is toward the top of his list. Enjoyed catching up with Wimbush and liked what he heard from Gilmore.

Good, should have Ewell wrapped up by then after OSU left him off their want list.

I'm assuming this has to do with Ewell, he must be close to committing.

Alex Geitman at 247 put in a CB for Ewell to ND and so did an MGoBlog analyst. OSU and UM were said to be ahead of ND going into this visit. Them conceding must mean the commitment is close.

Ewell seems to have more interest in being Irish. At least IMO.

That's what I was saying, after Tate's Big Board came out sans Ewell.

I was coming here to see who DWP was going to cuddle up to next after Ewell switched his lean. PSU or OSU. He's obviously on hold for admissions at Stanford and I thought he might circle back around to OSU and see if they want him as a third wheel in case Tufele stays out west.

This is an interesting case of musical chairs but I can't wait for the DWP - ND story to end. Did not want him committing 2nd and pushing away a Ewell (or Cage if he flipped.) If they bring him in as a Plan C if Cage doesn't flip then I'd be ok with that, just don't want his largeness clogging the funnel at this time.

Ewell and Cage please.
