There are plenty of 'bad' moments to remember.
Some of the losses under Gerry Faust were among the most embarrassing to me.
The collapse against USC of the mid-seventies was horrific. It was like watching a really bad accident in slow motion. Nothing you could do and you knew it wasn't going to end well.
It is one thing to get screwed on a call, FSU's was among the worst. But what happened in the Coliseum that year was mentally crippling, (temporarily.) The team obviously broke down and blew a three TD lead to lose by what, over 30 points? Something like 55 to 24. What made it worse is the media picked up the Anthony Davis one man show angle. What bull shit!
For me the worst screw job, blown game, with lame calls that made me want to cut lumber and burn puppies was the Stanford game last year!
- I really believe ND was the better team.
- The farm field was actually pretty good so there was no easy cliché of an excuse.
- For all the complaints about the defense, they really did a good job in their game plan shutting down Stanford's bread and butter.
- That go ahead touchdown before we scored to take the lead again, and they drove for the final score, was horrible officiating.
Really that Stanford call was worse than the FSU call the previous year. With the Stanford call the putzes didn't have the haze of any rule interpretation. It was clear cut. If you are not the outside receiver on the line, if you are covered or protected by any player outside of you, you are not elgible. Period.
An ineligible receiver caught that ball. And the thing that really pisses me off about that is all the pencil necked Stanford pussies that complained about the fourth down play on the goal line stand and wanted the 'right thing' to be done, didn't peep about giving back that touchdown! Fuck'em all!
