UTR better start a new production co. called "Under the Microscope" because the antithesis of" Under the Radar" is being a QB at The University of Notre Dame.

I don't know. Every time I see new tape on this kid, he keeps looking better!

Someone knocked his speed? These are pretty good Tahas teams he plays, aren't they? I haven't seen a team that looks to have anyone of his speed yet. And players are pretty fast in Texas.

Also, is it my eyes? Or does he have one of the fastest releases I've seen in high school?

His school is playing at the highest level of Texas HS football in metro Dallas....and every year a slew of kids go to D1 schools. If we hold onto this kid, it'll be a good thing.

He doesn't have a super rocket arm, but damn does he throw a sweet ball.

His speed of release looks really good. I don't know enough about mechanics but from the time he makes up his mind to the time the ball leaves his hand looks incredibly quick. I would think that is very important in BK/Denbrock/Stanford's offense.

Yeah, he has a quick release, throws a tight spiral (like every time) and has terrific touch. What I was referring to is that he doesn't throw rockets. He doesn't have that Philip Rivers or Jay Cutler zip. That's ok, that's rare. It also doesn't always equate to success. I'll take accuracy, mechanics and decision making over power all day.

Hate his release but damn he has some pop to that ball. Dare I say for comparison looks like a stronger more accurate/decisive Everett?

Outside of the comparison, I would say he is the exact opposite of that. Gets rid of the ball quick and throws a great ball, albeit without pop.

I saw it posted in the Wyatt Davis thread I think, but I think this is true for most of the offensive positions - this year's recruiting class in incredibly loaded. All of these guys are pretty damn good

Sounds like our guy is having a respectable run at the elite 11- currently ranked 10.

Cedar Hill H.S. ranked #1 in Dallas/Ft. Worth area pre-season 6A football. Team is loaded (as usual) with D1 talent. Great school for the Irish to tap, nabbing AD is a great door opener.

These camps and rankings mean nothing to me. You can't rank QB's based on how well they perform in drills. Once you get into a live situation some guys handle the pressure better than others

I think the camps definitely do serve a purpose, just like the 40 yard dash and shuttle drills have a purpose. It's about overall potential and how good a QB can potentially be, overall arm strength and accuracy.

Arm strength and accuracy mean nothing if you can't perform under pressure and read a defense

But being the best at reading the defense and the coolest under pressure means nothing if you can't make the throw. Both aspects are part of a whole. Neither one, individually, is more important than the other.

So should they cancel pro days, the NFL combine and such since they are meaningless?

I'll agree winning the Elite 11 doesn't mean you're the best HS QB but it does say that some guys handled the pressure, made the throws, made the reads, had better footwork, followed instruction better than those they were competing against over the three day event.

You remember that kid from Florida who went to UCLA and won the elite 11 a few years back? Couldn't even make the two deep at UCLA and I think transferred to USF.

Yeah I couldn't remember his name either...

And your point is...?

Combine / camps are worthless?

Dilfer and his staff do a poor job identifying talent?

Dilfer and his staff do a sh!t job evaluating talent?

Elite 11 QB's peak too early?

Elite 11 QB's pick the wrong schools/staffs to further their development?

Great example not like he had to sit behind Hundley or Rosen was coming in.

My opinion only. I do not want to ruffle any feathers. We're talking about a 17 year old kid. He's only 5'11. He plays top tier ball in Texas HS. He was invited to the Elite 11. He is highly regarded and holds offers from lots of great schools. His film is GREAT. He throws a great ball and his footwork, speed and intangibles are great. He will probably grow some. We have Malik Zaire, DeShone Kizer, Brandon Wimbush, Ian Book, and (almost guaranteed) Jurkovec coming in '18. We're in great shape. Avery Davis is a great QB with zero pressure of needing to come in and play right away. No worries here gentleman. He didn't make the top 12. Not a big deal and it doesn't sound like he is bummed out about it. GO IRISH!!!

A lot of talent at QB at ND. We have all been craving this for years. Remember when Kelly played something like 7 QB's in one year at Cincinnati
